  2. For sale or trade: 2013 Fender Nate Mendel Road Worn Precision Bass. Hey SSG's, As I predicted, this one is not long for my stewardship, which is a pity, as it's got an almost nuclear punch to it with the standard Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickup set. But at the end of the day, I'm a Jazz bass player, as opposed to a Precision bass player, and the chewy punch of my Aguilar equipped '95 Stingray is capturing all of my attention at the moment. 'Nathaniel' here has been set up beautifully with a low action curved to the 7.25 radius of the fingerboard, currently running on 40-95 Elixirs, so it's a dream to play. Comes complete with a seriously thickly padded old gig bag (pictured). This is one of the early Mendel Signatures with the original BadAss II bridge. If you haven't played one of these before, they're a big favorite of people with either small hands or classical DB technique, as the nut width is 1.615", so not far off a Jazz neck. There's no point in me pointing out dings and marks, as it was RoadWorn from the factory. I've not added any more dings to it, or kicked the body around a gravel carpark, but the Mexican workers at the Ensenada plant probably did. It's actually quite a nice subtle job, with aged maple parts and metal hardware. The nice part is that you can see the gold undercoat underneath it, as if it's a well gigged refinish of Candy Apple Red over a previous coat of Shoreline Gold. Candy Apple Red Ash body with lightly Road Worn Nitro Cellulose lacquer finish. Maple Neck with Rosewood Fingerboard. Slim "C" based on 1971 Precision. 7.25 neck radius & 1.615" nut width. Leo Quan BadAss II Bridge. Seymour Duncan Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound split coil pickup. Foo Fighters Tour Bus and Platinum Records not included. £925, or make me a sensible cash/trade offer with a little extra money going either way. Buyer to collect, or will meet at a reasonable 75-100 miles from Derbyshire DE7.

  4. Smash The Mirror - The WHO
  5. Very nice, but something about it feels wrong to me, hand and head movements at time look like there's some video artefacts in there? I might just be imagining it of course...... Either way, lovely bass line 👍
  6. Recently I stumbled across a YouTube video called 'Mind Bending Bass Exercise' and it looked pretty insane. It was the same 4 notes played over and over but by video creator Andres Rotmistrovsky, but he constantly changed position on the fretboard while doing this. So, is this video a fraud or a very good exercise? Click the link below to find out in my latest YouTube video. There’s a link for the free PDF of the exercise with the fingering patterns in the video description. Have fun with this!
  7. Bits and pieces - Dave Clark Five
  8. Hey all, Just answered a wanted add from Brian for a comp. Quick communication, trustworthy and no issues whatsoever. Would definitely deal with again. Peace.
  9. Tonight I am in total control of the PA so to add to the usual gig nerves I have that to contend with! Add the tantrums of a muddled aged child (singer).., However I have worked through things many time at home and I should be OK😀
  10. What are you using as the control unit?
  11. Probably not but as the camera moved about it was picking up a decent sound out front wherever it was so you are doing something right. I've had many gigs where i thought it wasn't sounding great out front and it used to worry me until i heard recordings and it was usually fine. We now are all pretty happy that if the sound we hear on stage sounds good then its usually good FOH too. To be fair we are starting to use PA hire more often these days with a view to almost every gig from next year rather than me humphing blooming large PA cabs in and out my car are ridiculous hrs after a gig and either the drummer or singer trying to do sound from on stage. Its been pretty good TBH over the years but having a dedicated PA guy just takes the pressure of the band. Dave
  12. The Octabvre Mini is now sold but the Proton MK3 envelope filter is still up for grabs folks! £200 including UK postage
  13. You now have no excuses 😂 Dave
  14. Please feel free to and I'll send some settings over. No problem my dear boy. If I were going off the shelf I'd be getting a Schecter Dug. They're really good and I did almost get one myself. I eventually realised, having a Hamer, why should I get another one?!! As regards the wait times. I remember Waghorn was reasonably long when I asked them too. It wasn't 3 years though. Maybe 18 months to 2 years. It was a while ago. As regards Grainger, my Hades took 3 years to get. However, most of that encompassed covid and it's aftermath where both Darren and Gavin were ill for some time consecutively as were members of their respective families, so there was a great deal of time where nothing happened for the obvious illness and social distancing reasons. It's worth saying I specifically measured neck profiles and asked for circuit wiring they'd never done before and they did it flawlessly. Its also worth noting, they're the only people who have ever managed to set up a bass almost to where I have it which is so stupidly low action a lot of people struggle to play them. Any one of Brookes, Waghorn, Shuker or Grainger will do you an amazing instrument. It's just down to what you want.

  16. I’m afraid ‘bulky in the mids’ rather accurately describes me!😁
  17. Nothing to loose... But, have you tried it passive? I've passivated 2 SR300, one with a P and Artec QTP Passive Tone, tother with Maida Vale Stacked Coil Jazz pickups, an SR400 with Twin Coil DiMarzios, both Vol and Pan and a SR500 with the Std Bartolinis and a 3 position switch, and no on-board tone control.
  18. I've fitted the SE3A to a couple of Bass Collection basses (4 pot) and they are pretty good for the money. One of them developed crackly pots after a few years, the other one is still OK.
  19. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot
  20. Trace tone you can lift comfortably. Handles a low B with ease.
  21. Bought some acoustic bass strings from Joel. Well packaged and just as described. Top Basschatter and would ( and probably will 😅!) buy from him again. Thanks Joel
  22. Price drop - now 200 Selling this lovely Bitmap in great shape with original box - it's basically mint apart of velcro. These received significant software update last year with additional clipping modes etc. Red Panda has also very convenient web editor for presets. Happy to trade (with price adjustments) for interesting dirt pedals. Bitmap occupies my "loose spot" for additional dirt in pedalboard and I'm just happy to experiment. Basic overdrive I'm covering with Capo. The ones I would love to try are EAE, Damnation Audio, Broughton, Bearfoot, Hiero etc. Would've thrown 3leaf in but what are the chances
