I can't comment on whether it handles a 5 as I' don't use one. But I can't see any scenario where this cab wouldn't work. It's a cab I expect to keep forever (famous last words). However, there have been small gigs where it has not been the most appropriate cab for the job, and I've used my One10 for those so far. Occasionally I have felt the One10 to be not quite enough, so I've ordered another one. Hopefully by Christmas I'll have all the options covered, 1x10, 2x10, and 3x10 depending on the gig. I love the sound of Barefaced 10" cabs. Rob

I'm currently learning how to play my band's Christmas song. We have a gig coming up on the 28th November which is our last gig of the year so we thought it would be good to include it in the set. It will be an interesting proposition to play live as it was originally pieced together in the studio. I don't think I've ever played the bass/guitar part all the way through in a single pass and the part was written first and foremost to make the song sound good rather than as something I would be able to perform standing up on stage. There's some big leaps from one end of the neck to the other between the verses and choruses.

Check out the OKKO FX Motorbass pedal. I don't know if it's what you want, or need, but it's meant to be instant Lemmy.

Trace Elliot - Rescue & Restore (and bargain finds)
SimonK replied to SimonK's topic in Amps and Cabs
Good job - life is always better with a bigger Trace Elliot stack! Re the badge on the 15, lots of people who like this orientation took them off because they didn't like the badge on sideways (I do, and then hook them back on). I suspect if you look closely at the grill on what would be the top right in the picture above you may see some signs of it being removed. If the logo on the 2x10 is riveted on this will be a very late example of these cabs, possibly left over stock from when they went to Peavey. Although I haven't got this specific head I'm pretty certain there wasn't a black light. Instead everything green will fluoresce under black light. I bought some very cheap black light strips from ebay when I did my cab project and they make the amps look awesome: -

If you want to try anything on top of a clean bass, use a X-over and push the higher frequencies with some dirt pedal(s).

I have a MB58R 12” combo, superlight and the head is removable. Very impressed with mine, covers a lot of genre territory. If wanting ultralight I can also recommend a TE Elf and a 4 ohm MB58R 2x10” pure, fabulous setup.

If i didn't have a Nux Mighty Plug and a Bighead headphone amp, I'd be looking at this. I still might have a look. Perhaps the phone app makes the interface usable. However given IK Multimedia haven't got the world's best UX team, that might be a forlorn hope. I suppose they could have contracted the work out? Rob

The only fool proof method might be buying a new case. My case for my 2000 MIJ Fender P stinks. It's the old glue that causes the stench. I won't tell you what it smells like. Lol Daryl

To get the best placement of a sub in a pub you need to get in before opening. Put your sub in the middle of the dance floor designated area. I say designated because it could well be a dining area during daytime. Play some music with a little booty in the bottom. It doesn't have to be loud, only discernible. Check out the possible actual locations for the sub for best bass thump. When the sub is swapped in there and cranked up, hey presto, thump on the dance floor.

I THINK I can see why this didn't go into production based on the failure of the Fender Dimension to gain traction. Stingray fans will nearly always go for an actual Stingray. What we want our favourite brands to be can nearly always be found elsewhere in my experience 🙂
-
do you ever get the feeling that the best bass you have ever played is whichever one is in your hands at any given moment?
-
Wall placement gives not only up to 6dB more output, the equivalent of doubling the sub count compared to well away from the wall, but also eliminates reflection cancellations. Uneven room response is seldom an problem in typical pubs and small to medium sized clubs. Every room is different, so experimentation is key to find the best spot to place them. Where you'll usually get the worst result is below mains, so that should be avoided whenever possible.

Small world... we've just been offered a gig at the tunnels so in my research I spotted a band called Butane Skies and the name just stuck in my head. Then I start 'window shopping' here for basses I don't need and there's that name again...hey @SteveXFR what's the Tunnels like as a venue, hard to gauge from the website

Yup, me again... Pickup and some books. As always, Lawrie is one of the good guys. Thanks
