Even the headline is terrifying
Downunderwonder replied to Steve Browning's topic in General Discussion
A dozy thing to do but ordinarily one would not come completely undone picking up a chainsaw by the 'blade' You might slice a couple of fingers on the points when it got away away on you but the blade is stationary until you gun it. I am calling BS on the whole thing. It would be a superhuman effort to grasp the chainbar ahead of the drive motor and lift. Like trying to pick up a bass horizontal from the 3rd fret. There is a front handle for that. One handing the saw while operating and using other hand to muck about with the wood and oops/AAAAAAARRRRGGG!!!!!. That I can buy. -

2025 SE Bass Basheroonie! Sunday 9/11/25 *CONFIRMED*
bass_dinger replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Events
So, how do we identify ourselves? Do we wear lanyards with both our pseudonym and our real name on it? Do we have a cut-out of our basschat icon, worn as a mask - and then remove them when the organising committee start to play the basschat theme song? Uncannily, my real name is not bass_dinger, and I only spoke with Prowla and Hamster two years ago - so, I am wondering how I will make myself known as Robert. -
You will find that many, many DB players will have clocked various grain and stuff in the neck as markers,

Do you have enough CDs? 🤨 Those RDs are lovely. They're in way better condition than mine.

Filling and drilling holes for tuning heads

How about finishing the thread of with a pic? -
I did the same a few months ago, it works perfectly, especially if you fit the neck to a new body that hasn't had the bridge holes pre-drilled because you can position the bridge correctly without the old holes showing.

I had exactly the same thought... 🤔 🤦🏻

We played Thursday night. I had no idea we had another gig on Friday last night until I found out on Thursday. Daryl

Dave, it was also good musically. After playing together for over 15 years we just seem to know where everything is going whether we've played the song before or not. We had some cool improvising happening. Daryl

Could someone clue me up about the out of phase pickups? Is it just a matter of reversing the phase of one of them? TIA

bass_dinger started following La Bella flatwound 5 string set with one missing . . .
-
I have a set of La Bella flat wound strings from a 5-string bass (B to G, 3 over 2 layout). Probably Deep Talkin' Bass, maybe the .045" to 0.128" set? However, the D string is missing (it snapped when I moved the string set from one bass to another). So, if anyone wants a partial set of flats, perhaps as spares, or to try out the feel of this brand, do please let me know. Free, because I can't justify charging for them. Robert

I've just taken a punt on a medium scale conversion neck I saw on ebay to try on my P bass. Will let you all know how I get on... (Apologies if these particular ones have already been discussed - it's a big thread!)
