  2. Can you figure out what’s going on here? https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/fender-precision-bass-1962-sherwood-green-refinish-pre-owned/ From my reading it’s half a neck (fingerboard replaced) and some vintage tuners and that’s it.
  3. Well, we are all different, aren't we? I have Schallers on all my Spectors which were / are used for hundreds of gigs and they (Schallers) plus the same leather straps on each keep them in the position I like (see profile pic)
  4. Yeppers, my M5 is on my board as a 'modulation box'; good little unit that's even better with an expression pedal.
  5. Message sent re. the B1 Four
  6. Id jump on that!
  7. Perfectly serviceable basses mate; you’d spend £100 on a knackered squier
  8. Barefaced, GR, alusonic... Something like 1x10", 1x12", 2x10", 2x12".
  9. Never 15. 12s for me.
  10. Just spotted in a local charity shop window. Looks in good nick (through the window). £45 seems like a bargain. Are these decent? I don’t need a new bass. But I do keep looking at black P Basses that are 10 or 100 times this price.
  11. Agreed - I remember posting a fairly lengthy contribution on just this issue around five or six years ago - I find that Schallers permit my basses to subtly tip forward a little, creating a bit of an uncomfortable angle between chest and the top edge of the bass. I jettisoned straplocks in favour of rubber washers years ago.
  12. I'm driving from Bewdley to Manchester on Saturday and could go via Bridgnorth if that helps?
  13. Any recommendations for a relatively inexpensive but lightweight cabinet to use with my Ashdown EVO500? I’ve been using 2 x Hartke 4.5XLs for 25 years now, but they are backbreakingly heavy to lug around now I’m an old biddy. I’d honestly settle for one lightweight cabinet with fewer speakers and the ability to deal with my amp sufficiently now. Bestow your expertise upon me please, fellow Basschatters….
  14. The real questions should be: "Are you getting gigs for weddings where the couple are saying 'We saw you at X's wedding'?". "Are people dancing to your music and having a good time?" Usually after the buffet, but extra points for people staying on the dance floor after the first dance.. If you are, then don't worry about it. We are our own worst critics.
  15. Hi I’ve just bought a Line 6 M9. Anyone else still using the M series?

  17. Ohw! Thanks for that; I had no idea. Ordered! Been a fan for 50 years and seven months. 😀
  18. I’m doing another run of my Jack Tailpiece Clip. It provides a neat and firm fixing for the pickup jack under the tailpiece as shown in the photo. It comes in two sizes, 12mm dia for the chrome jacks and a slightly larger dia for the Gage black jacks. Definitely an improvement on the string afterlength fixings. I’m also now doing a twin clip to tidy up the cables running from twin pickups or pickup and mic. Single clip £10, or £16 for two. Twin clip £14. Postage included.

  21. That's interesting...I thought it was just me. I went from Schaller locks on all basses to just the normal buttons and rubber washers on everything and they all felt more comfortable on the strap. You wouldn't think it would make much difference would you? It seemed to change the pressure points over my shoulder and tuck the bass back into me a bit. That's on all 3 - a Spector Pulse 2, a Warwick Proline and a Zon Sonus

  24. I have the Octopus album and liked it but didn't love it. May give it another go....
  25. Fantastic bass pedal that covers you from overdrive to distortion and fuzz - gated as well. Just not playing in bands so I'm moving some gear - fantastic condition, #006 ☺️
  26. You don't need to spend money on premade shims. There is no practical advantage to buying them. If you have a cereal box or any similar cardboard you can make dozens of shims with absolutely no negative effects.
