So this just popped up on my Facebook. Thomann I know very well, I've kept their business afloat for years now.

Unfortunately, Factory Outlet Shop I also know very well. Hmmmmm.

Log in to my Thomann account. Am I bombarded with -80% stuff? Am I hell ...

Don't know what's going here, but I'd recommend treading carefully.

Is anything on Facebook genuine?

Well, I’ve been waiting outside this bar for the “Hot MILFS that want to shag me” for 3 days now.

I even sent them money for a taxi, but judging by the money they took it must be miles away!

They've just left, should be with you soon. I know what you mean about the money, fortunately there's a Nigerian prince who's going to sub me.

Another reason to not have any social media... Genuinely, the world would be a FAR better place if it didn't exist at all.

Chancers were around long before social media, right alongside those desperate to buy into their "too good to be true" claims.

🙄 You absolutely know what I mean.

Well, only the social media we don't like.🤔

I use Facebook and have bought & sold things there, met people, chatted with distant friends & family, got local info, etc., and it's beneficial.

I'm about to go out for a jam with some folks from another site.

I can't be doing with the daily diary, influenzas, stupid reels, and suchlike, though.

I've used Twitter for trains info and that's about it.

I don't know if I have accounts on the other mainstream ones.

Has anybody with Facebook access contacted Thomann themselves? I’m sure if they are made aware of it they would move to protect their legitimate commercial business interests.

You guessed it……………I don’t have an FB account.

And they would ignore them too. This is where facebook gets their money, promoting scam sites.

My experience of reporting a similar scam page to Meta on Instagram was that the post in question did not breach any rules.

I also contacted Andertons directly and got the response that they also struggled to get the scammers impersonating them shut down.

The bottom line is that Meta's complaints procedure seems to be entirely automated and unable to detect this kind of scam so it refuses to remove the ads.

Meta must be fully aware of the issue, it's been going on for years, you have to conclude they value the revenue from scam ads more than they value protecting their users from scammers

Facebook could slap the word "SCAM" in bright red bold typeface above the post, won't make a blind bit of difference; folk will still place orders then cry "victim".

High time the general public started accepting responsibility for their actions .

We're not the customers, we're the product.

To be fair, they also get their money from selling our data!

I've given up reporting stuff to Farcebook. The other week I reported a hideous individual who was ranting on about immigrants, referring to them over and over again by a very derogatory name beginning with W and rhyming with 'snogs'.

Perhaps predictably, I was informed that apparently it didn't contravene any of FB's "community standards".

Yes, over time you get to realise that their standards aren't the ones of any community that you would want to be part of!

Social media's 'community standards' are just American cultural imperialism. As long as you remember that the only racial slurs that might get pulled are those seen as such over there - the N word comes to mind here - and portraying the destruction of life is fine but its creation is verboten, then you won't fall foul of their malgorithms.

If I didn't need Faceache for band promo, I'd have ditched it long ago.
