Facebook is full of scams. I saw one last week for andertons, selling marshal speakers for 9.99. I have seen those before and know they are scammed, so I looked, sure enough it said anderton music supplies, had their logo and everything, then look closer, 120 followers. Reported it as a scam, Did a search for andertons, hundreds of thousands of followers, no little speakers, contacted them they said not to deal with the other thing as it was a scam, I said I knew and had reported it but thought they might have more clout, they said they report them every day and nothing happens. Sure enough, 2 days later got a thing from facebook saying that the complaint wasn't upheld.

Now I assume everything on facebook is fake, as long as meta get their money they don't care who they are ripping off.

Social media companies should be made to take responsibility for scam advertising. They can afford it but they'd rather make obscent amounts of profit rather than spend the money on protecting their users.

Yet they won’t let me advertise my old iPhone on Marketplace - they insist it’s counterfeit!
As if a pro counterfeiter would be bothered selling something for £40!

Unbelieveable.

There was one for Andertons on Facebook which linked to what looked like an Andertons website. I messaged Andertons and they asked me to report it to Facebook. Of course Facebook did nothing.

It's like the wild west out there.

I doubt your complaint was ever even seen by a human being, just instantly scanned and rejected by an automated program, with the the response witheld for 2 days just to give the illusion that some kind of considered process had taken place.

The big social media companies have always taken the position that they bear zero responsibility for how people use the platform that they provide, to the point where they are extremely reluctant to acknowledge that they are even aware that any criminal activity takes place on their services in case that implies they have any kind of moral duty to police and prevent such activity.

If no one used social media, this couldn't happend and quite frankly the world would be a far better place for so many many reasons.

In principle, so many human inventions are originally designed for good and moral reasons, however, inevitably, we as humans coat that good intention in a thick, indelible layer or evil tar that can never be removed once it infiltrates the good.
