fleabag
Never seen one of those gadgets before. DIY foam yes, but not a factory built mute. Then again, it's not something i'd ever use, so it's a gadget thats new to me.
SpondonBassed
I don't want to put a dampener on things but I already do that with my palm.
Rich
I'd actually find it quite handy, but at £106 posted I think I'll pass. I don't want it that much.

Hellzero
Thanks @fleabag, this reminded me that I have one of these bass-mutes in my big "unused things" box that I have to sell...

ianrendall
I always thought the Zeta Crossover bass was a neat ‘gadget’. But since I first saw them in Bassist mag in the 90s I haven’t heard hide nor hair since, let alone ever seen one for sale. Either they’re brilliant and nobody wants to sell, or they didn’t take off. I never actually thought about that the gadget mutes from the bridge not from the nut so it would mute the whole string

The Bass Gallery had one for a long time. Might even still be there.

I had two, one four and one five, nice fretlesses, but no double bass sound at all... Also had a lot of Godin Zeta Z1's or other brands names : these were terrific basses especially the fretless ones. And also had two Zeta Prism basses, terrific looking and sounding too, the Zeta BP-410 bridge and electronics were brilliant ideas !

I suppose a wrap would be useful for muting unfretted open strings that would otherwise ring out if one's muting technique wasn't quite 100%. ped
I used to have one, really liked it actually. Used it quite a lot but since then every bass I’ve had has had no room in front of the bridge for one!

SH73
I want to be heard not muted. Surely a diy gadget can be used for a fraction of the price.
Reggaebass
My 62 ri came with these which I suppose would do the same job but unlike the gadget you can’t unmute without taking them off
SpondonBassed
The Musicman system requires that you stop for setting it doesn't it? If palm muting is off the cards and you aren't able to instinctively mute with your fretting hand, the gadget might help To me it just seems like more paraphernalia to distract from inadequacies in my technique. Oh, and I bet it's shyte for metal. Edited June 30, 2018 by SpondonBassed
