Ok I didn’t think that was possible or even an option, I’ve never been that close to one only ever seen pictures and presumed that lacquer was part of the roasted effect

I just, by coincidence, posted on the EBMM forums asking about just such a thing!

Dualit 2-slice Newgen toaster in Buttercream. With matching Stingray.

Lovely bass. Toaster doesn’t look too bad either 😉

Just out of interest, does it suffer from that modern day phenomenon of not being able to accept full-sized bread (the toaster that is)?

😄

It accepts all sorts. Bagels too. I'm quietly impressed!

That’s it then, I’ll ask for one by name.

Obviously I’m assuming they’re available in Charcoal Sparkle. Hmmm, I’m already readying myself to be disappointed 🤔

Probably not Dan, you’ll have to satisfy yourself with the charcoal on yer toast

OK then Ray-men. There's 50 pages of Ray porn here so tell me - do I want a 2EQ or a 3EQ? Both is not an acceptable response.

...or do you want a new Special, or a Classic, or an Old Smoothie? 🤣

You’ll finds pages of this debate with some great opinions if you do a quick search - but my quick and simple response is that for me,  and many folk, the major difference I find is that the 2 band is naturally warmer (the 3 band as a low pass filter), and the 3 band has its own zing. Neither better, just different.

Well worth considering the new Special’s if you can.

You'll only answer that by trying both mate.....IMHO while the differences are there the people in the audience wouldn't give a .....

For my part I prefer the 3EQ on fretted (nice to have mids control for on the fly adjustments on stage) and 2EQ on fretless (seems to just 'work').

Exactly this. I personally prefer the 3 band with the mid adjustment available should I need it.

The EQ on the Stingray Special is more refined than on a standard 3 band version. They’re both great, just a little different.

Unfortunately, there is no correct answer to this question. I've got 10 of the flippin' things and they're all different 🤣

If you get the Stingray bug, it won't stop there either. Pretty soon you'll be looking at HH's, HS's, SLO's and Sabre's. You'll know you've fallen down the rabbit hole when you've bought your first Bongo 😎

Bongo's a Nissan I think? Can't see that happening. Just the one for starters - maple neck, old-school burst finish, and 2EQ if I have a choice... just because more knobs confuse me. Keep you posted.

You'll not go far wrong with that 👍

I was looking for a good Music Man for a while, that needed to have a lacquered neck. I don't like the oiled ones as much..

Today I went for a drive to pick up this 30th anniversary model!

Its such a beautiful bass...

Tommorow I'll be done with the set up and give it a spin. I haven't heard it with proper fresh strings yet, but it sounded great already with dead rounds. So I guess flats would sound great too. First I'll mount a set of fat beams for full Stingray aggression :)

They are indeed. Do you regret selling your one to me? 😀

I think it’s one, on hindsight I should’ve kept, but fortunately the Starry Night is pretty close H
