1.
I haven`t removed the knob. I tried it but it didn´t came out so i gave up. i was afraid to damage the pot. I belive it´s the issue is with the pot and not the knob itself.
Probably best to return it then for a replacement, if it's the pot. It certainly doesn't sound like normal behaviour. edit: I just saw that this was B stock - this could be why?
2. Bought Peter's JamMan pedal and it was here within 48 hours in perfect condition. It's what Basschat is about. Excellent.
3. Just checked mine. There is the standard amount of resistance in turning the knob that you would expect from any other quality pedal, the same as my other TC pedals. Have you removed the knob to see if the splines inside it are broken?
4. I find that on a lot of items Bax are the last ones to raise their prices if the RRP has gone up, but in general their prices are hit and miss. Worth keeping an eye on for a bargain but not yet a 'Thomann' for me..
5. The whole is not necessarily greater than the sum of the parts.....
6. Cold? Condensation etc? I had an amp that started fine but wouldn't work (on purpose) until conditions were right.
7. Interesting - what's wrong with it.....?
8. The BTB675 is £629 most places so I guess they got confused. Seeing as you're applying for credit and haven't paid upfront I reckon your chances are slim but fingers crossed eh?!
9.
The amount of R&D that went into the B Social....I mean...????!??!? How many bassists do you know who own one?
I've played through one. It's pretty decent. Just not £600 decent. But I don't know anyone who has bought one, no Edit: Bax Shop have knocked £200 off the B Social Price.....
10. New pickups (what was wrong with the custom shop 60s?), revised neck profiles and a couple of new colours. Better to get a bargain on a new American Standard...
11. What settings have you settled with for the compressor? I'm running the Sansamp pretty much all the time but haven't sorted the octave yet.
12.
Sorry mate. BTW you havent got the badass bridge on it. Did you not like it?
Erm hadn't you already decided a few posts back that this photo wasn't actually a Nate Mendel and therefore wouldn't have had a Badass (or hi mass as is now) fitted? Confused....
13. Have you tried this at volume in another location? It could be poor acoustics in the venue......Would be a shame to condemn the bass before ruling out other factors!
14. Have you turned the Tweeter control on the back all the way up? Also try angling it up a bit towards you. I had one and it was fine - mine was on casters so I took the back wheels off to add a little bit of tilt to the cab. You do need to be a little bit away from the cab to appreciate the full sound though. Close up it does sounds a bit muffled. The grill is on a wooden frame and is held on with pretty tough Velcro - it just pulls off the front but needs a bit of oomph!
15. Steel wool is ok for rosewood BUT use the finest grade you can get hold of and be gentle, mask off well everything that is electronic as little steel slivers get everywhere, and vacuum up well before removing any masking tape. Then condition the fret board afterwards with lemon oil or other proprietary fret board conditioners (plenty available in guitar shops). Old toothbrushes are your friend! Take the knobs off to clean them - it makes life much easier. I use Autosol but any metal polish will be ok.
16. I rather like the Markbass NY121 as a light and compact 12" cab
17. 6k€ and you probably still have to pay for travel, accommodation and subsistence on top of that? That's a lot of T-shirts....
18. If your neck relief is ok and you can't lower the bridge saddles any more then yes a shim in the neck pocket will usually help.
19. I retired my M-audio Mbox2 in favour of the second gen 2i2 and am so pleased. The difference in quality is like night and day but it makes me want the 2i4 now....
20. Yup fair point. It's true bypass isn't it? I can dig mine out to check.....
21.
To be clear, you are saying that your bypassed tone is quieter with the pedal in line, than going direct into the amp?
As I understand it, he's saying he's expecting unity gain at the noon position?
22.
.......the Level control on the VMT is set at noon to keep my overall volume the same whether the effect is on or off.
Right idea, but you need to set the level control to whatever setting actually does give you the same volume. Noon position might not be it! Set the gain, blend and era to the sound you want, then adjust the level knob to give the same input to the amp with the effect on as with it off (assuming you do want the same level) That could be 2 o clock or 4 o clock even. The noon position doesn't have any relevance.
23.
Thanks for this. I've modded my RI as per the above .....
Good news - what schematic did you refer to (if any) to rewire?
24. Ah ok so in summary, re-wire the existing 'Gibson' config for the Ric config. Straight forward enough once you discount doing all the gubbins through the F holes! I attach the original wiring diagram if you're interested.
25. Ok I'm interested, what next? "Get the wiring done" is a bit vague. New pots, all existing wiring just rewired, new wiring etc?
