1.
To throw in my sixpen'orth - Just look around on big stages,TV shows,DVD's etc, and see what keeps coming up time and time again- the mighty Ampeg SVT rig. This 300 watt all valve amp coupled with the 8x10 speaker cab is still THE industry standard, some nearly 40 years after its introduction in the late sixties. This is surely the definitive set-up.
Definitive in terms of image more than sound I reckon. A lot of these are rented mate, and chosen for the image rather than the sound. I've known one big festival to use the same bass rig for four bands - wheeled off at the end of each set only to be wheeled back on again for the next band.
2. Cool! Can I be picky and suggest it is located under the effects forum, rather than at the end of the section? That way all the 'gear' type forums are together before you move on to technical forums...? Cheers Steve
3. For my sins I work in insurance. I would be tempted to identify whether the company registered to supply insurance is registered with the FSA. If they are then I would contact the Financial Services Ombudsman reporting the miss-selling. There are rules and regs around demands and needs. However, this could be an internal insurance scheme (effectively a compensation arrangement) which may not be covered. When sending basses, If I'm not sending them in a hard case them I always remove the neck and sometimes send that separately.
4. Is that a Bob Glaub, Peter? It's beatiful. May I ask how you acquired it? Steve
5.
Oh yeah OBBM did me a top class one. The screwdown mini jack is costly but it's worth it. The supplied cable is too long anyway..
Ah - Just after I made my post I thought about OBBM so I have PMed him. Cheers!
6. I've got the Sennheiser 172 also (not the G2 but the older model). It's exceptional in my opinion, apart from the rubbish instrument lead that is supplied with it.
7. Panic Music will fix it but they're always pretty stacked with work so lead time may be an issue www.panicmusic.co.uk
8.
That all seems logical. Thanks
All I can think of initially is that the tuners and the holes won't be the same, but if your replacement neck comes with tuners then this isn't an issue.
9.
the 4PRO isn't THAT loud-compared to some other 'bridged 1200w
Did you bridge it correctly? it'sa very common mistake made with the 4PRO. If you find yourself needing more headroom with the 4PRO then it's probably time to be going through the PA in any case.
10. ..and also basspartsresource.com. It's in the States but delivery is pretty rapid.

Mine has no noticeable delay switching from record to playback - the Jamman is superb and you can record patches on your computer and transfer them back to the pedal. It's a hunking great piece of metal too so if the boss is more solid then it must be hewn from solid granite! ;-)
12. DR Sunbeams - from the States off ebay.
13. I would also suggest trying your local guitar shop also. Many of them are becoming internet savvy and know that they have to compete on price and you are in a position to negotiate face to face as well as trying out the instrument. Just don't take the piss and you could be surprised. I find my local shop very accommodating.
14. I agree with Steve - Apply some matching (car) paint with a toothpick or a matchstick and then let it dry thoroughly. This could be up to a couple of days, then superglue works, but again, wait until it's fully hardened.
