1. Just listened to them - I think it's fantastic! Best of luck.
2. No idea about the speakers but I have the BA115HP (not the T which has a tube preamp) and it's a great amp. I have tried the T version and I struggled to make out the difference between the tube preamp and the non-tube preamp. Might save you a few pennies? It can get a great approximation of the Ampeg sound although isn't majorly loud on it's own. I use this amp when travelling to venues with good PA support and it handles the situations well. I've used it at The Cavern, Bull and Gate, Dublin Castle etc all with no problems. The top one comes with casters and side handles. I don't think the bottom one does. They're both heavy so the handles and wheels are very useful. Remember the 200R does not have a horn, whereas the HP115 does (the variable attenuator is at the rear) so assuming you use it, you sound maybe quite different. I would imagine at all depends on whether you need the vintage vibe or not.
3. Didn't buy a bass off him (surprise) but did sell him some bits that'll no doubt find their way on to a bass that someone WILL buy off him ;-) Hardly needs to be said, but I'll state the bleeding obvious and say 'top bloke'.

5. Chris - it's Psychoandy's! Check out the 'For Sale' forum... Steve
6.
REALLY? thats one of the ones I had my eye on. Wouldnt mind trying it out somewhere but I doubt anywhere will have one in. p.s. I would never go to the Bass Celler They are a miserable bunch of w@nkers that work there
Well, I think so from my experience, though that're not light by any stretch of the imagination. I don't know if any member currently has one, but it's worth asking, maybe?
7.
The pick up layout is like the old Precision Elite 2. Fender have never bothered to revisit this format, so I'd guess there's probably a good reason for it. So I wouldn't either, though mostly because it just looks wrong.
The Precision Elite was just the same although they had sensor pickups. Don't know whether that was because they were so close to the bridge? They had well chunky bridges too. That looks like a Stingray bridge in the photo there Chris.
8.
Hey Muppet do you still start every sentence with either "tell ya' what" or "now then"? If you do you are a definitely still a Lincs man.
Rumbled And me missus is smelly Skelly born and bred.
9.
I still have her all right - have added a J Retro and Hipshot bass extender, must put a picture up some time. My main bass before that was a Fender American Deluxe Precision and the DJ neck was super slim by comparison. I've since sold the the Fender and now use either the DJ or the Bob Glaub that I got on EBay about six months back P
How do you find the j -retro, Platypus? Did you get John to make it for for you or buy it in from the States? It's such a huge sound with the preamp that I can pretty much get any tone I want out of it!
10.
Mup. We'll have to have a meeting 'round a fire at midnight on a full mooon, running around naked, chant a few olde cantations, slay a few virgins and then debate wether or not you're worthy of Lincolnshire status.....
We used to do that under the Stonebow on New Year's Eve. Then the coppers wanted to join the party in 1988 and it was never the same since...
11. If you do get some I'd be interested to hear your views. It was on BW a while back that I was initially recommended them in the first place.
12. Great sound - Stingray and SWR Super Redhead. Not that I have either anymore.
13.
Are the Dangleberry ones exactly the same as the Schallers but with two nuts? I nearly got a set for the Pedulla Buzz I've just bought, but chickened out at the last moment and found some cheap(er) Schallers on eBay. From the photo it also seems that the screws are a bit shorter, one of the things I like about the Schallers is they don't mess about with fitting the button to the bass.
In my experience they are directly compatible. I swap straps and guitars around all over the place - some have these some have Schallers - and they all fit perfectly. As far as screws go, I have no idea as ALL the screw supplied with all strap locks are just too short in my opinion and I replace them with better ones. I thread lock (as opposed to thread sealant which is different) the Boston ones too though - better safe than sorry. Steve
14. These are they, can be bought from here You can clearly see what I mean about the double locking nuts.
15. Hi Clive I prefer Boston straplocks for a few reasons 1. They're cheaper but still same quality as Schaller 2. They're compatible with the Schaller system 3. VERY IMPORTANT. They have two nuts on the shaft of the strap part as opposed to one. These act as locknuts. Schallers do not have this and unless you apply threadlock they tend to unscrew themselves over time, whereas the Boston ones do not. cheers Steve
16.
but i can't say it's ever been a problem or something i thought needs addressing.
You're lucky in that you always have in house PAs. If you have your own [vocal] PA and rely on your bass amp (and guitar and drums)for FOH sound then it's quite critical
17.
found a strange little shop in Beccles of all places today - arts, crafts & guitars! sells homemade jewellry, pots etc but also has some 'vintage' guitars out the back...very strange. anyway.... there was a nice Musicmaster in there, looked to have a fair bit of mojo, nicely aged, was a dark wood natural body (walnut?). no price on it but the rest of the stuff he had was reasonably priced. maybe worth a look as its reasonably local to Naaarwich peace c
Not sure I've ever seen a walnut Musicmaster, notto say that they didn't do them. Did he have any other secret beauties hidden away?
18.
With 17 people on stage (including a percussionist) it was usually a case of sticking the amp where it fitted. However, having an angled 380w wedge combo made a huge difference to hearing myself compared to the 600w or so 2x 2x10 set up I had before.
Steve- do you use it like a monitor i.e. facing you, or behind you as in the conventional sense?
19. I'd certainly try it. I buy a lot of smaller parts from basspartsresource.com. They ship via USPS (rather than UPS) and I have never been asked to pay any import duty so far.
20.
I'm a left-hander playing right. Why does it matter, though? Shurely you have to use both hands to play the bass, and they both need to be equally dextrous? I've never understood why you'd learn to play the rarer, more expensive instrument, when you need to train both hands from scratch anyway. Just to be contrarian, like.
It's the same principle that leads left handers to automatically hold golf clubs, cricket/baseball bats the opposite way round. One hand is the dominant controlling hand.

Ampeg SVT-HD

I take it that you're putting it through the 610? What setting have you got the horn on just out of curiosity? Sounds really great apart from the fan. Post some pics with the cab when you've time if you can!
22. Can I be honourary member? I live in Lincoln for 20 years and me folks still live there?
23. Seeing Dave’s (dave_bass5) discussion on sitting his cab on a wooden floor with or without rubber feet and also the rear vs front ported cabs question on the Ashdown ABM115 thread I’m going to raise the question about how and where you should place your cab in; a. In relation to the rest of your band b. In relation to the room you are playing in Thing I have been thinking about it whether the cab should be up against a wall, in a corner, in line with the kick drum, with or without casters etc, raised up on crates (!)…. Any good starting points to always bear in mind or any complete no-no's (like I was always told not to stick the bass amp behind the drummer...)
24. To be honest I think the fact that you have a SVT 806HE means that very few people are going to have tried this combination as the cab never sold very well and reasonably scarce. I run a MAG 300 through a SVT610HLF as a backup rig and it's ok, but quite woolly. OK as a backup to my main amplifier (which is what I bought the Ashdown for) but I'd not have it as a rig of choice.
25. You did buy it from a dealer and not privately off ebay didn't you? It's straight replacement time in that case.
