1. had a 1024 and a 1025 and both were superb. But so was a 424 I tried in PMT in Manchester. My conclusion is Yamaha make great basses so im tempted by the new range. 434 or 734a does anyone know if the new pups are std sizes? if so that would open up to a lot of possibilities with trying different p J pups in them
2. I expect I will be drooling over these soon! Had a 1024 and a 1025 both were outstanding. Also had a trbx 305 and an rbxA2 4 string. people will like some features of the new and prefer some of the old. One thing is for sure I've never played a bad Yam. one of the best P bass tones I've heard was a BB424 at the cheaper end of their range. Lots of bang for your buck!
3. I have a 2016 twin of this and its great. Proper bargain! Lovely pattern on the tort guard too glwts
4. got one myself same year same colour but as stock condition. great P basses this is a total bargain GLWTS
5. had a classic 50s nitro superb bass in every way. quite light and monster tone. Eventually settled on a usa std but only cos i got a great deal with the pros coming out and it was a similar price to the classic 50s.
6.
The price differential is just silly at this point. I've seen USA Stds selling for £4 - 500 less than the new Pros, in the same store. That's a massive difference, for almost no difference. If I wanted a new Fender right now, I'd be grabbing a USA Std, without a second thought. I do like the new Olive green though.
I did just that and bagged a NOS 2014 P bass and a 2016 Jazz for a few £100 more than a single 'Pro' P bass would have cost. Have to say I'm presently very pleased, same bridge, machine heads graphite reinforced necks etc etc. 2 of the best Fenders ive played. Price hikes have now taken the Nate Mendel and other Mex basses such as the classic NItro P bass (both awesome basses btw) above the cost that Am Stds were going for a few months ago.
7. Ive had a 1024 and a 1025 the 24 was very good but had a loose nut (not the end of the world). The 1025 was black and set up brilliant from the word go. I moved back to 4s and a p bass but the yam was something special. Those pups cut through like nothing else I'd had. Unless like me your a serial buyer/seller a good one could easily be 'the one'
8. ive just sold an AVRI p bass and bagged a couple of bargains in the form of a new 2014 p bass black/maple and a new 2016 3TS/RW Jazz usa stds. they were sold off as new pro range was coming out. 2 of the best feeling basses ive ever owned. if I could only have 1 bass (as has been the case most of last 20 odd years) itd be a P but im loving the jazz I have to say. Now my band is a 3 piece the P bass played with a pick fills the space really well but I find the jazz with fingers cuts through better than the p with fingers used to and the other band members commented on how good it sounded and cut through but that could be down to new strings. its horses for courses really and if it fits it fits. Just watch Bobby Vega and tell me a jazz doesn't work, a pick doesn't work etc. P bass J bass Ray all good IMHO
9.
Got it on the bench last night to have a look and there was no issue with it choking when played acoustically. The saddle on the G is a little low compared to the other strings (My dodgy set up, not a QC issue) but the string rung out fine. I think it might be an amp issue as I was playing through the rehearsal rooms old knackered Ashdown combo, I'll try it out tonight on my gig through my Orange rig. I also had the 3TSB RW on the bench as I have an unlocatable buzz on the E string. I can't find it for the life of me. Body end, not a fret or nut buzz. Held everything down and it still buzzed. The only thing I can think it is is the silk on the bottom of the string almost comes over the bridge and I think the buzz is where the ringing string causes the string rather than the silk to hit the bridge ?? Sounds unlikely I know
I had a hard to locate buzz on my AVRI p bass, turned out to be a spring in the bridge just slackened the intonation screw stretched the spring out and it was sorted once the intonation was set again
10. Is the pick guard original? I thought with headstock truss adjustment it wouldnt have the cut outs
11. I had one on approval for a few days and sent it back as the sale of the bass i was trying to move on fell through! Gutter as i had a killer deal on it. Dv247 seem to be cheapest at the min. I was very impressed with it simply as a p bass. Love the vintage tuners and bridge. nitro very thin and soft and was marking easily so would wear relatively qiickly. Great bass regardless of nationality. Good bargains ahoy on std usa i reckon tho as old stock will be moved for the new 'pro' range so might be worth a rethink unless nitro is the biggest factor
12.
The PB62-US is Alder. Lots of high spec' CIJ's are Alder including the 'US' non-export models. The PB62, which also had smaller tuning keys and a standard bbt bridge was basswood for example.
Cheers Dood Well done on a quick sale Bargain!
13. Lot of japanese fenders seem to be basswood are you sure its an Alder body? Looks a beauty Cheers Bri
14. Ive owned one and it had a great range of tones a very versatile bass with a comfortable neck. Plus its a Yammie they don't do poor quality
15. What!!! No lower Bobby please I haven't got the cash to buy this back If this is still here come the end of the day the world has gone raving mad!
16. I sold this to Bobby and saw him play it live with The Christians it sounded a lot better than it ever did in my hands! Deal with Bobby in full confidence he is a gent and a true BCer as well as an excellent player. This is a pro quality 5er for a snip. I don't think you can buy them new now as they have been discontinued. I guess it is because they are so close to the £2K 2000 series. (same pups, spline body etc) sure i had the weight at 4.1-4.2kg using the bathroom scales method. regardless its very well balanced and never felt too heavy playing for long periods to me and I'm only a little fella! GLWTS
17. have a bump from a p bass lover currently holidaying in Cavtat. Lovely country. Nice bass, glad I didnt see this earlier.....
18. Mike bought some fender flats from me, another faultless transaction. No bainer!
