As the title says, the full TC Electronic Rebelhead package. Probably one of the most flexible Amps I have ever had. Being able to dial 3 different sounds and switch at will is awesome. The Mute/Tuner at your feet is a fantastic idea and one that i wish other manufacturers would follow. I just prefer the sound of my MarkBass. It is insanely loud and unbelievably clear. 4-band EQ, (each band has adjustable mid-point), tube tone, 3-band compressor, 3x user memory, chromatic tuner, digital recording out, preamp out, preamp in, Speakon & Jack speaker outputs, speaker mute switch, headphones out, balanced line out. Excellent condition as I am a bit "Anal" about looking after my gear. Now Sold

Welcome from someone else who has defected from the "Skinny String" brigade. Interesting to see if you make the full transformation. i don't go anywhere near a 6 String now. Much prefer Bass duties.

Hi Jake, Since Keith, (Yorks5stringer), moved South, I guess there isn't anyone to take up the mantle. I have been talking to Drew from Manchester Bass Lounge about a Manchester/North West one. Will give him a prompt and see how he feels about it.
Your credit card company will charge you a poor exchange rate though. Just check what it is first so you don't get a suprise
Nationwde don't. Got a crackin rate on my last Thomann deal.

Funnily enough we played a Wedding last night with a Noise Limiter. The venue had already run an extention from the room next door and told us to use that. This place went even futher, opening the Fire Doors also cut the power. Most of the issues with Limiters is poor installation. The levels they are normally set to go off at are pretty damn loud, and if installed properly you would need to be deafening to trigger them. We played a club last week that had one and it was perfect. We are a pretty loud band and it never even got near going off all night.

I've got both Award Session and OBBM Cables. Same cable, same plugs, same quality. Wouldn't use anything else.

I've developed Tennis Elbow! Should I change my technique?
BassBunny replied to BigJim's topic in Theory and Technique
+1 for the Physio suggestion. I had it recently and a couple of trips to a physio and then leaving armed with some excercises really helped. I took what the physio had to say on board and adjusted my strap position and also looked at my technique. At the end of the day it is a similar condition to RSI. The other thing that really seems to have helped, and stopped it coming back, is sticking with 1 bass. I found that the Marlleaux neck, which is really slim, is the most comfortable and if I go back to a thicker P-type neck, it aches like hell after 1 gig. -
Booking Public gigs for function/wedding/covers bands
Unfortunately our Keys player won't go out for less than £50 so that kind of dictates what everybody else gets paid. We don't really play pubs as they're after rock/indie band more and they can't pay as much. We tend to go for classy bar/club type places where they can afford to pay a little bit more.
That sounds just like the keyboard player we have just ditched. Absolute moron who had no concept of the current market. As a fellow Manc whose band does do the occasional Pub gig, you will be lucky to get more than £200 in the North West area. I often think all the LL's got together and agreed a standard fee. There are a few exceptions that will go to £250 and if we are doing the Tibute Act, (Blues Brothers/Commitments), they seem happy to do it. There is one pub I could mention that only pays £80 + the contents of a bucket passed round at the end of the evening. I would join North West Bands, get yourself known on there and then do the legwork. If you rely on emails, CD's in the post then you won't get anywhere. LL's will keep shoving the info to the bottom of the pile. The ploy that works for us is to go in when the place isn't busy, armed with a DVD and portable player, and ask for 10 mins of the LL's time. -
I use a Dremmel, (or something pretty similar), works a treat. If you can't beg/steal/borrow one, then a round file is your best friend.

A Vinyl Wrap is the answer. A pal of mine has done a few.

£50 for Vintage HH gear is a steal. Their stuff is built like tanks and you will always get that back if you sell. Funniy enough our K/B player has 2 HH Amps and the rehearstal studio we use has shed loads of them. I can always get a great sound out of them and this from someone who gigs using a TC Electronics RH and an EAD Cab, not cheap by any means. Don't worry about the perceived 100W output, they are bloody loud. As long as it is working nick, I would go for it.
I sent it to my pub-rock band as an example of less-is-more. As a counterbalance to that 2-overdriven-guitars-and-heavy-handed-drummer-rock-covers band, I've startely like the stripped-down vibe, and I just love the singer's voice. For me, that's the type of band I've been looking for for years. Steve
Beat me too it Steve. Completely agree that the "stripped down" vibe really works especially as the Stevie Wonder version is pretty busy. Awesome job Jake. Incidently are these guys from RNCM and do you gig around Manchester? Would love to catch one of your gigs.

We have just renewed with these peeps. http://www.insurance4performingarts.co.uk/ Years cover, £75 for £2M or £125 for £5M cover. Instrument insurance is reasonable as well.
Have you seen the weather forecast for the North West this weekend? I really hope you're under cover at Tatton park.
It's next week-end Steve, (30th June, 1st July). Although it will still probably be raining. Previous yeras it HAS been a 32ft Covered trailer as in the pic here. Electric Drums through a PA is no problem. I play in a band using them and the drummer uses a small amp for monitoring and then into PA. Works a treat, (except he is a crap drummer. ). Regarding a PA outside, 100W will not be enough IMHO. You could be OK as the drums ar electris, but I would try and beg/steal/borrow/hire something a bit bigger. We are playing an outdoor gig next week at an American Car Show and are taking a 6Kw PA.

I put one of the Pretender Bass decals on a P-Bass Bitza I built. The guy does a "Fecker Jizz Bass" decal as well.
The whole band should be going through a PA system with FOH engineer.
+2 Steve. The Blues Brothers/Commitments band I play with are doing the American Car Show at Tatton Park next weekend and we are taking a 6Kw PA system and everything will be going through it. Stage is a trailer so another challenge there.
