A lotta bass for the money!!!
BassBunny replied to Schnozzalee's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Still at £650 with no bids. Someone might get a bargin
And they did. 1 bid, gone for £650 -
Thanks everyone, I'm going to try and see if I can get me near an Eden - everyone seems to be out of stock of Eden stuff near me at the moment.
You will struggle to find anyone with any Eden gear. Since Marshall bought the company stocks dried up whilst they sort out their distribution network. I was really lucky in getting hold of an ex-display WT550. Have to say Marshall customer service is fantastic and it might be worth a call to see when they expect some to be available. Have a word with Sounds Unlimited, ( where I got mine), they might track one down for you.
I have used the SE-2, the SE-2A and the SE-3 in the past. Had no problems with the SE-2 and SE-3 but had two SE-2As fail on me (the concentric pot both times - horrible pops and thumps when you wiggle/turn the pot). Sound wise they do a good job - especially for the price of them. Pretty easy install, it's all soldering to circuit boards, no need to muck about with pots as they come ready with leads and use connectors to attach to the main board.
Same problem with me. Had an SE3 in my Bass Collection but the pots got really "scratchy". Shame as it is a pretty good pre-amp.
Yes I think the new ones are made in China, like most of them these days.
Probably the new micro stuff and certainly the WTDI pedal is, (as i've got one), but my WT550 was made in the US in April of last year. You might find the GK stuff is as well.
I realise this might be a touchy area, but classing Class D as clinical or without fullness wouldn't be the way to judge it. Some Class D amps are voiced to be very clean and super tight in the low end. Some are not. It has nothing to do with the Class. The RH450 for example is Class D and due to its design sounds closer to more traditional amp. The Genz Streamliner is Class D and absolutely slams in the low end, and has serious volume on tap. I owned a big heavy Trace GP12400SMX for over ten years. It was great, but you don't need that weight to achieve a similar tone. My Class D Shuttlemax 9.2 (FET Channel) sounds very similar and is louder/has better EQ and is more reliable, (touch wood).
Well put and probably the wrong way to put it on my behalf. The one thing i noticed with both the Eden and MarkBass is that you set them flat, plug in and it's pretty much there, FOR ME. Never had that with a Class D power section.

As they say "What's source for the Goose etc.". I've been using Markbass analogue amps, (LMII and SA450), fore years, as well as trying just about everything on the market. I've got an Eden WT550 and a MarkBass SA450 at the moment. I've had TC and Genz and have tried the GK's and Big Bang. Eden for ME. Very similar to MarkBass BUT bags more "welly" due to the heavy transformer and tube front end. Loved the others but far too clinical for me due to the Class D Power Amp section. I've come to the conclusion I like analogue Amps. BUT what works for me, might not work for you. You really need to hear them yourself.

Russ, I've got a Fenix P-Bass you can borrow if you want.

I wouldn't mind a look. Loved the first one.
Using Parcelforce (but booking via Parcel2Go), next day AM delivery is £15.59 - let's just call it £15. That includes £200 insurance cover - bizarrely (1) slower services only offer £100 cover, and (2) they won't let you pay to enhance it for musical instruments. It's my risk that's being covered, so I'd be happy with that. Any offers, PM me.
Try Interparcel. Use the economy service and it will still get there next day. UPS are the couriers and you can insure up to the full value.
I met up with Bill this morning to collect the head. You were right Stu, it's a belter !! Cheers Bill, chuffed ta bit's with it. Pete. Stu, If you want me to send you the rack ears so you can copy them for yourself just let me know. I can wait a few weeks before I rack it.
Thought you might like it Pete. ACG and Eden, killer combination. I might not need to take you up on the offer. I decided to do the obvious and contact Marshall, (who now distribute Eden in the UK), to try and get some. Hopefully they are on their way. They couldn't be more helpful. Customer Service as it should be. If they don't turn up, i'll get in touch. -
PM'd
You'll love it if you go for it Pete. I've just got a WT550 and it is an absolute revelation. Just plug in and it's there. I had a massive bias against them for some reason, but it was the only amp I hadn't tried. I could have saved a shed load of time and money if I had sprung for one some time ago. -
Manchester bassist seeks wine-bar vibe...
BassBunny replied to solo4652's topic in Bassists Available
Hi Steve, 1) I thought you were sorted! 2) Not many of those type of bands around our area as there aren't many wine bars anymore. Just joking on point 2. I think I know what you are after and I'll keep my ears open. -
Is this wire ok to use as a ground wire in my bass?
BassBunny replied to dave_bass5's topic in Repairs and Technical
Maplin sell most wire by the metre, but you won't find out which until you get in store. -

I've had both and also a Kingston Heir. All great Basses but i've still got an L2500. It's my "Get Out Of Jail Free Bass". I reckon the G&L is the most adaptable Bass I have come across and i don't think I will ever sell it.

Just returned from Ibiza and saw 2 Muso's using iPads. A Sax player and Guitarist. They had their Backing Tracks and Scores on iPads. Lokked a really nice compact setup.

Am going to see his band next week so will ask the quuestion.

I don't think it is going to happen. Drew from Manchester Bass Lounge has heard on the grapevine that it isn't going ahead this year. Edit: Just spotted Stevie has a Band Gig on 11th Nov, so looks unlikely.
