made by the same folk that make lakland skyline
And G&L Tribute series, also make for Fender and ibanez and wouldn't mind betting the Sterling range. They are the most underrated instruments on the market IMHO. I used to have the previous GB74 and regretted parting with it. I've just got one of these: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/177014-nbd-a-corberg-or-is-it-a-sanort/page__fromsearch__1 and am absolutely made up with it.

Ok... Your top 10 Bassists of all time?
BassBunny replied to bassickman's topic in General Discussion
Something like....in no particular order: James Jamerson Marcus Miller John Patitucci Geddy Lee Pino Palladino Stanley Clarke Alain Caron Bernard Edwards Jaco Pastorius Bruce Foxton I stuck Bruce in there at the end purely because, he may not be a virtuoso, but he is the reason I play bass. His tone and lines stood out for me among all the other bassists of his generation.
No Richard Bona Pete? -

What Bass do you swear buy? Any thoughts on Sandberg?
BassBunny replied to bassickman's topic in Bass Guitars
I am a massive Sandberg fan, but just bought one of these and it is still amazing me. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/177014-nbd-a-corberg-or-is-it-a-sanort/page__fromsearch__1 -
Nice one Stu ... especially with those pups.
Cheers Rich. It really is a stonking Bass
what do the pups say on them?
They're Delano Desonics.
Who picks the names for these basses? http://en.wikipedia....Arona,_Piedmont http://en.wikipedia....Arona,_Tenerife Looks good though!
Haven't a clue, and don't really care . It looks good, Fantastic to play. Nice and light and hopefully will sound good when used in anger. Never really been bothered by what's on the headstock.

I've always been a big fan of Cort Guitars and Basses, ( I guess building for Lakland, G&L, Fender, Yamaha etc. is a good pedigree), and Sandbergs. Don't know how I "tripped" over this, but Sandberg have joined up with Cort and come up with this: Called the Cort Arona, it is designed by Sandberg and built by Cort. Prices seemed pretty reasonable until I was ordering something from Thomann and realised that at current Euro/£ exchange rates they are selling it at less than £350. Bearing in mind it is all Sandberg hardware, a Sandberg designed Pre-Amp and Delano pick-ups, I thought it must be worth a punt, (and they have made a mistake). It has just arrived and I cannot believe it is soooo good. It is very much a Sandberg Basic, but with 2 pickups. Only weighs 7lb 6oz. Has Sandbergs Open-Pore finish and the build quality is fantastic. I used to have a Sandberg Basic but felt it was a bit "one dimensional" due to the single pick-up configuration. I can confirm that this looks and feels every bit as good as my Basic was, but with the additional J type P/U. Probably the only downside is the 2-band pre-amp, but at this price it could be changed. Not had a chance to play it in anger yet, but through a pair of headphones it is really nice. A very, very happy BassBunny
I'm looking forward to see what Bass guitars and bass gear are there.
Probably very little. it is very much a "guitar" rather than "bass guitar" show. Great for leads and odds and sods, but that's about it.

Chris has just bought his ACG "J" type back. I know when he sold it to me he didn't want to do it, so a pleasure to see it going back to it's rightful owner. Really nice guy to deal with. A VERY quick simple transaction. Anyone considering a deal with Chris, do it with confidence.

Weird, an email from Scott Devine just popped up advocating exactly this. http://scottsbasslessons.com/improvisation/the-importance-of-melody.html

I don't make up words but DO sing/hum the bassline when trying to learn something. It's a pretty classic way of doing it. But never words.

I would get hold of Rich, (Ou7shined), as his work is fantastic. Well worth sending up to Scotland. If you want someone local I can also recommend either Steve, (manchester guitar Tech), or Ged Green.
Any chance of posting it, if I cover the cost? Shouldn't be too much if the neck is taken off.
Asked the same question yesterday but haven't had a reply yet.

I got one from US and it worked straight out of the box BUT, it won't be guaranteed. TC don't have Worldwide Warranties, (which is a bit weird with a Worldwide friendly power supply).. The guarantee only applies in the country of purchase. Shouldn't be an issue as they are pretty reliable, but a point to consider.

This popped up on a North West Band Forum and is nothing to do with me, so any questions, contact them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are looking for an experienced Bass Player to join us on our 2012 UK Tour. We are a traditional circus that travel for nine months each year. You can have a look at our website at www.americancircus.co.uk or our Facebook page www.facebook.com/american circus to get a feel of what our show is about. We have an already established band, however our current bassist is leaving due to personal reasons and we need a replacement. We are looking for someone to play bass throughout the show. The style ranges from current pop, to rock, jazz and big band styles. All our acts have a different set piece, with the overture/finale to play as well. You would also be responsible for the building up/packing down of the band stand and the equipment within it. Also we ask that you help with publicity for the show in the mornings. We need someone available for immediate start, but even if you could only join us for a couple of weeks until we find a more full time replacement then give me a ring anyway! We work five days a week, mostly with two shows a day. There will be plenty of time to relax as we usually change ground once a week or every two weeks, in the summer we stay in one place for four weeks. Accommodation will be provided. Good weekly pay- around £250 - £300 a week with the opportunity to earn more. If all goes well, there could be opportunity for a repeat contract for nine months in 2013. Own transport is preferred but not essential. Please do not be put off by the word circus! We have a great company of artists, work staff and families that travel with our show from all over the Uk, Europe and America. Its a great experience and if you take to circus life, you may never want to leave. If you think you may be interested, or know someone who is - heres my number 07428590456 Thank you, Candice Taylor.

Why is this still here? This is an insane price. Probaly because of the "Watts/Loudness" discussion that has spilled over from TalkBass. I did an afternoon of A/B ing with my RH450 / LMII and SA450, and IMHO it is louder than the MarkBass heads. It's a shame that people can't take a product for what it is without getting caught up in the crap that is spouted sometimes. Good Luck with the sale.
I got my white FJB6 yesterday and love it. It was £149.99 delivered. It turned up set up really well, plays great and sounds fantastic. I'm knocked out at the quality. Whilst I havnt used it on a gig my impressions at home are very positive. If anyone wants a simple, well made jazz bass for a stunning price this is it! Thanks again for the review Scott. Geoff
You did well Geoff. looks like they are back up to £229.

Very difficult to see the problem from the pic, but my G&L neck fits in the neck pocket as snug as a snug thing on snug day.

I would get the mods to move this to the Wanted Section.

I did just this a few years ago. A band i played with used to gig at a couple of pubs where it was always going to kick off. I decided I needed a bass that would suit these venues. I figured that I would rather have a bass I could crack someone over the head with, without worrying, than a prized possession that could get ruined. I fairly quickly discovered that most of the "bargain basement" basses have really crap pickups/hardware, but can have reasonable bodies/necks. I bought a "no-name" P-Bass, (built in the same factory as some known brands apparently ), and dismantled it. I went through a mountain of boxes to get a nice 3TS one with a crackin Tortie Scratchplate. Cavity screened, CTS Pots, Sprague Cap, Switchcraft Jack and a Wizard Thumper, (bought 2nd hand off here), took care of the electronics. Replaced the bridge with a Wilkinson Vintage, (brass saddles and a bargain IMHO), but the machine heads were really good so kept them. The neck already had a lovely tint added to it when sprayed and gave it that Vintage Vibe. Added a "Fecker Pretender" transfer and Roberts Your Uncle. It ended up a really nice bass. Played well and sounded awesome.
unfortunately I'm not a L-1500 guy.
You mean "Fortunately", don'y you Rich? Wallet won't suffer.
