1. This year at Band On The Wall on 6th November. The schedule has now been published and all the details are here: http://www.bassday.co.uk/index.html Marcus Miller holding a Masterclass/Q&A. Bernard Lackner. Jah Wobble. Phil Mann. Pat Illingworth drumming for Marcus. Scott Devine and Overwater's Chris May holding an Interactive discussion, "The Alchemy of Tone from Maker to Player." Nigel Clutterbuck. Hopefully Stevie will be bringing his "Most Wanted" band. these guys are awesome and have 2 of the most talented guitarists I have seen. You could even win a 33% discount on your custom bass from ACG. Some nice prizes as normal. I was exchanging emails with Stevie Williams earlier this week and in his words: "It's going great ... gonna be a very busy day. Tickets are selling fast ... I don't think there will be any on the door/on the day tickets left."
2.
I was about to write that I'm happy with my setup, but then I came accross this post and now I'm experiencing a serious gas attack for cabs I haven't even seen nor heard.
3.
I see mention of Adam Nitti on the facebook page. He is down as TBC.
Hope he is on. another Masterclass from him would be awesome.
4.
OK, can anyone answer this one - would I have to pay £25 to get to the trade stands? I'm in the market for a good bass, having just sold the last of my valuable basses, and it'd be handy to have a look/try of various basses in one room (if, in fact, there's anything I'd like, and to be honest there wasn't much rang my bell last year), but I have no interest in Mr Miller or any of the other performers (and Nige I'm more than familiar with (in a good way) ) so £25 to go shopping for an hour seems like a lot of money.
I think the simple answer is "Yes you would have to pay". There isn't a seperate Trade Area . If you look at the Trade Area "map" on the Bass Day UK website, most of it is in the same area as the stage. It is very much going back to how it was when held at Life Cafe'.
5.
MB1. What was wrong with the RNCM for Bassday? Is it not Jazz Club enough?
Martin, RNCM wasn't available on 6th Nov. Having secured Marcus Miller, Stevie Williams had to move the venue.
6. Am I Happy with my Rig? Damn Straight. Been round the block with Amps, MarkBass to Ea to GK to TC .... and back to MarkBass. The EAD Foundation 212 was the misiing link. Stunning Cab and i've stopped looking. A MarkBass SA450, (with a Little Mark II as back-up), and EAD Foundation 212 and a pair of Zoot Cabs as back-up. The GAS Account has now hit stupid levels as the 2xACG's are taking care of the Bass end.
7. Hi James, I did exactly the same thing a couple of years ago and the results were stunning. Here's my shopping list from WD. I spoke to Andy at Wizard and also said I was looking for a "bright sound". Sprague 'Orange Drop' 0.047 Capacitor (.047CAP-OD) 1 £0.68 £0.68 8' x 12' COPPER SHIELDING FOIL (CSF) 1 £4.26 £4.26 CTS® 500k Split Shaft Pot (CTS500) 2 £3.23 £6.46 BASS STRING RETAINER CHROME (RB20C) 1 £1.28 £1.28 TUNING MACHINE SCREW NICKEL (BAG OF 12 ) (TMSC) 1 £1.28 £1.28 Vintage Wire Black - 2 Ft. (WIREBKF) 1 £1.70 £1.70 Vintage Wire White - 2 Ft. (WIREWTF) 1 £1.70 £1.70
8. Have been back to Dave for more. Great transaction and a really nice guy to deal with.
9.
what about insurance? I'm about to pack up and ship off my priceless Overwater - does anyone have any thoughts on which couriers offer which type of insurance (and how much it's gonna cost?!)
If you use Interparcel, all the services offer insurance and you can set, (and pay for), the level you want. I have used Interparcel Economy, ( they use UPS and have always delivered next day), loads of time for Basses and Amps. Touch Wood, no problems. Insurance is £5.00 per £250 insured.
10. Try The Meters "Cissy Strut", in fact most of their numbers. George Porter was an awesome player.
11. Another vote for Minotaur.
12. Awesome Cabs. I have a pair of them (112 and 112NT). Lighter than a fart and as punchy as hell. Someone is getting a bargain.
13. Bargain. One of MarkBasses best heads. Good Luck with the sale.
14. All PM's answered and i'm not really looking for trades. I took this in P/Ex against a Bacchus and am really looking for a cash deal.
15. Hi Pete, If the current switch does Series/single, then they will probably have used a DPDT On/On/On wired as per example 1 of the attached diagrams. That would mean you would need a 4 Pole/Double Throw On/On/On to do it with one switch. OR I would have a switch for each pick-up, that way you get a fantastic number of combinations.
16. Hi Pete, Yep it's a Double Pole / Double throw. i did exactly the same mod on my Sanberg Basic. Worked a treat.
17. Here you go then, You wil need an DPDT, On/On/On switch, (pretty standard and easy to get hold of).
18. Assuming it has Delano Pick-Ups, i have the switching diagram somewhere. Will dig it out.
19. I took this in P/Ex from Jake, (jc_riffs) and I really don't need another Bass. It is still in as new condition. Not one bump or scratch on the guitar. The guitar has been kept in a hardcase all its life, hence the reason for the immaculate condition. Recently just put a new set of DR Marcus Miller Fat Beam's on it and it has never sounded better. Such a versatile bass, you can dial-in a range of tones to suit your sound. Here's what Lakland have to say........... Way off the deep end! Just like the 44-01, dual Bartolini MK-1 split-coil soapbars are coupled with the MK-1 preamp. The 44's and 55's have that deep Lakland cutaway on the high register side of the neck that allows easy access to ALL 22 frets up the neck for throwing licks on top of your grooves. And we have said it before: 35-inch scale necks make for killer low B's! That is why the low tones on Skyline 5-string basses boom with piano-like clarity! Scale Length: 35" Frets: 22 Neck Wood: Flat-Sawn Maple with Graphite Reinforcement Bars Body wood(s): Ash Tuners: Hipshot Lisc. Ultra-Lite's Controls: Cut and Boost: Bass, Midrange, Treble, Panning-style Pickup Blend Control Master Volume (pull for tone control bypass) Bridge: Lakland Dual Access (through body or through bridge) Preamp: Bartolini MK-1 Pickups: Bartolini MK-1 split-coil soapbars Sold Subject to the Usual. It's this one and also in Sunburst. 20. Looks like the BDUK website has been updated and it's a full house. BassDayUK Web-Site Marcus Miller holding a Masterclass/Q&A. There is still room for another main stage performance and hopefully Stevie will be bringing his "Most Wanted" band. these guys are awesome and have 2 of the most talented guitarists I have seen. You could even win a 33% discount on your custom bass from ACG Alan. Some nice prizes as normal. Final comment from Stevie in an email I had from him earlier in the week: "Tickets are selling fast ... I don't think there will be any on the door/on the day tickets left."
21.
My third attempt to get my head round Mark stuff; alas, It 'aint gonna happen ...Quite fancy trying a TC head...
I was t'other way round Mike. Too many bells and whistles on the TC and firmly back with MB.
22. I've used the Maplin, (Neutrik), ones and never had a problem with them. At that price I always have a new spare one kicking around.
23. Just got some cables off Dave. Great to deal with and they were spot on. Happy to recommend.
24. Hi Bob, Found your way off North West Bands then?
25. Me neither. Not getting email notifications of PM's either.
