He's a really good clinician too...very entertaining and knowledgeable, not to mention great playing.
Which is exactly why Stevie wanted him for BassDay.
Hi there, Just wanted to pass on the info that yes, this is being steered by Nick Wells and I know he has big plans so watch this space! Being able to combine and embed audio and video footage is going to be a huge plus for this online magazine format. I'm hoping to be involved too in a tuition sense. All still to be finalised, but the team are planning on getting it out in October so keep your eye out! Cheers, Andrew
Sounds great and glad you are on board Andrew. BTW love your recent articles on interpreting Chord Charts

Had a call from Stevie earlier and he has taken on board the comments and it is now simply £25 On-Line or On the day at the door, if tickets are still available. It WILL be a full day from 12:00 midday to 10:PM and there will be another 4 live performances in addition to Marcus Miller and the Trade will be well represented. As Stevie is now on organising his 7th, (I thought last year was 7), Bass Day and believes this will be the best one yet, I tend to agree. BOTW has an awesome sound system and it could turn out to be the perfect venue. More to follow as the planning unfolds with some surprises, I am sure.

Just my 10penneth, but try as many as you can first. My first liughtweight amp was a MarkBass LMII. I tried TC, Genz, EA, etc.etc, (never sold the LMII), and am back with MarkBass again. Now have an SA450 and the LMII. You will have your own idea of what if right for you. Maybe a trip to Bass Direct or The Bass Merchant would be an idea even though it is a bit of a schlep.
£27 is a bit much for Marcus Miller,on his own, though it isnt for the whole day.
If you check the Bass Day website, there are 4 other performance slots scheduled on stage. Bernhard Lackner is one and the rest will be confirmed over the next few weeks, so it isn't a single MM performance. I totally agree that moving it from RNCM is a retrograde step but it always worked at Life Cafe, so no reason why it shouldn't this year. I was talking to Stevie about it last week at his gig in Stockport and there may be some interesting surprises in store.

Fender Bassman 50 with original 2x15 - £300 BIN
Aaaaaaaaaaand it's gone...
And only up the road in Liverpool too. -
tickets for bassday are now £27 on the door. How come its £7 more ? It should be £7 less surely. Last year we had 3 main guests players with 4 or five extra workshops/lectures as well ?
If you check the Artist Profile area, there is room for 3 more artists to be confirmed. Bernard Lackner is already in there so who knows. As it is a Masterclass and Q&A with MM, I personally reckon it is worth it for him alone. As I said before, you have a choice and I paid way more than that for the last concert I went to.

Don't shoot the messenger guys. I am just repeating what Stevie said on Thursday night and told me "You are the first person who knows the changes". He said the website would be updated this week-end. I am with Doddy on this one, the artists are more important than the gear for me. The London show was all about Equipment, Manchester always used to be about players. Last year did nothing for me other than Dave Marks session. Victor Bailey was obviously pretty ill, Stu Hamm was quite funny but Billy Sheehan bored me senseless. The last year at Life Cafe we had Joseph Patrick Moore, Alvin Mills, Lucy Shaw, Janek Gwizdala, Yossi Fine, Yolanda Charles and band, Adam Nitti, Wojtek Pilichowski, Jonas Hellborg and Stefan Redtenbacer with his band. It was awesome. Funnily enough Band on The Wall was used on the Monday night after BassDay 2009. It had just re-opened after a massive re-furbishment and there was a post-BassDay gig with Adam Nitti, Pookie Bell and his band.... At the end of the day, if you don't want to go. Don't.
I Played there a couple of months back and its in no way big enough for all the trade stands. Maybe they'll have the trade shows at RNCM & Marcus at the band on the wall?
From what I can gather talking to Stevie, it's all at Band on the Wall. It would be too much of a schlep between RNCM and BOW. Guess it's going back to how the first Bass Days were at Life Cafe. Small and intimate....

Went to see Stevie Willliams band on Thursday and it's "All Change". Date moved to 6th November and now at Band on The Wall. He has managed to get Marcus Miller so it has moved to accomodate his schedule. He said the web-site will be updated this week-end. Daz, might be worth changing the date on the first posting and have it moved to events....

SWR Triad Bass Cab For Sale ***Sold***
BassBunny replied to BassBunny's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Folks, Recently I was round at Bassbunny's house. I was picking his brains about heads and speakers. This SWR Triad quickly became the standard against which we compared Markbass, Zoot, Barefaced and TC rigs - it's that accomplished. Bassbunny is a nice guy too - hugely knowledgeable about all things electronic, and a hugely experienced bass player. He'll see you right. Steve
You've got me blushing Steve Thanks for the kind words. -
I had been looking for a "1-Cab" solution for some time and this really hit the spot. I reckon it is the best cab I have ever used. 3-Way design with a 15" & 10" Driver and a horn. The 10" is housed in a seperate chamber that is rear ported. It's a MKII version with twin speakons and twin jacks. It's in great condition. It houses an Eminence Delta 15A and an Alpha 10A as well as an Audax Horn. Although it is rated at 400W RMS, the drivers are rated at 600W RMS. The Crossover is really clever having a Low Pass filter on the 10". Frequencies above 5 kHz go to the Tweeter Frequencies between 5 kHz and 100 Hz go to the 10 & the 15" Frequencies below 100Hz go to the 15" Thomann still have them at just shy of £800.
To be honest Martin yes it's easier to sell it together but with this rig the sum is definitely greater than the parts. I reckon that the impedance of the two 112's is nearer 2 ohms than 4 and the amp thrives on this. Peter
I can confirm how good this rig sounds. I met up with Peter at Perry Towers one afternoon where this rig went through it's paces and it is sweet. To me EA Cabs really bring the iAmp to life. good luck with the sale Peter.
I've specced the blue ones for the Marseer 5 that Robbie at RIM is building. Looks like the band will have to get used to playing in the dark then.
Yep you need to get your money's worth. Stop eating carrots as well.

I have Luminlay Fret Markers in both my ACG's and thought a review may be useful for anyone considering trying them. Alan is offering them as an option on his builds so if you are considering them, here goes. All the information about them is here: Luminlay Website They work on a similar principle to the luminous markers on watches. I have the 3 mm Green ones in both my ACG's. They are energised using a small LED torch, (provided or purchase from Luminlay), whch shines blue light on the markers. According to Luminlay, Blue is the best colour to charge them up. It is the quality of the light rather than intensity or duration that has the optimum effect. After a 5sec charge they are initially quite bright and then fade very slightly keeping a constant glow. As all the bands I play in use LED srage lights, these will have an effect on the duration the dots glow for. They easily lasted a 1hr set and even after a 15-20 min break they were still glowing prior to a re-charge for Set 2. One band I play in is a Blues Brothers Tribute and even wearing the required Ray-Bans, the dots were clearly visible. Even when they have lost their charge the dots do seem easier to see than conventional Aluminium or Plastic ones. They are a little larger, (which helps), and the nature of the material seems to help as well. Are they an alternative to LED's? I would say yes. They are much cheaper for starters, particularly when specced at the start of the build as they are just fitted in place of normal dots. They do seem to get you through a typical set without "dying", although stage lights will help. Even a quick re-charge mid-set is no real hardship. Just do it whilst your singer is waffling or guitarist tuning up, (again).
If I just continue to build up layers, then flat it all down, should this disappear? Ta!
Think you have answered your own question. In an ideal world you would flat each layer of laquer down to the decal from coat 1 until the edges dissapear. Then apply a couple of all over coats, but I tried that and buggered the decal up so next time I just appplied a couple of thin layers and left it.

New 8" driver needed - suggestions please
BassBunny replied to franzbassist's topic in Amps and Cabs
Get it repaired at Wembley loudspeakers. At least you know when repaired it will match the other 3. http://www.wembleyloudspeaker.com/ -
Check the Affiliates Section. There is a guy there who does re-sprays.
