1. Alan, I went through a similar situation with my RH450. Got a sensational sound with headphones but it didn't translate to gigging volumes with speakers. I was reading an article by Alex Clabber that went into the reasons why an amp needs to be set up at gigging volume. If you want a "get out of jail free card", you can borrow either my Little Mark II or SA450, (you know and understand them) or even the TecAmp Combo. The TecAmp would easily suit you. I have used it without PA support in a large club and it easily coped. I am rehearsing in chorley next week so you could drop off there, no need to bring it back. It is so easy to get a great sound out of it as it has a control similar to the MB VPF/VLE You've got my number. Just give me a call if you need anything.
 2.
Hmmmm (twirls moustache) verrrry interrrresting.I noticed that the 'Fake' slur was for a Fred Perry shirt. But I still like the bass.I wonder which of the 2 prices is the most realistic though.I only paid £80 for mine second hand, but it's just the regular P5 with 2 J-type pickups.
Last one went for £277.
 3.
STOP PRESS.The cheap one's been removed!Maybe he's seen the other one.lol
And here's the story: "Hi, seriously interested in your Squire P Bass but can't figure out the model. any chance of some more details or better pictures, particularly close up of the headstock. You can send to [email protected] Also, would you package up for collection? Cheers, S" Answer within minutes: "Hi, unfortunately my girlfriend put a photo of this guitar on e-bay. i have two red bass'. cheers for your interest though...think i would buy it again for that price! cheers - mrbrownesq" Think he's pissed his girlfriend off?
 4.
Just been round to Andytoads and grabbed his L2000... will give it a go for a couple of days. If i like it, i then have to consider if it is worth shelling out for a USA model?!
Good move. In my opinion it isn't worth the extra dosh for the US model. I have owned and played both and there is so little difference it ain't worth it. The pick-ups are US made anyway.
 5.
Given the gentle whooshing sound of tumbleweed, I am going to keep this and put it on my Bacchus Jazz and see how I like it
Got one in my Bacchus. Awesome
 6.
hello folks as the title suggests, i am looking for some advice to help choose between these short scale basses. both seem like a good size for me & both are around the same price. unfortunately i will not be able to try before buying so any input is appreciated thanks in advance
As Cort make a lot of guitars/basses for Ibanez, I guess it's down to personal preference. The Ibanez, being a 2 pick-up jobby is likely to be a bit more flexible.
 7.
Thanks for all the help... I have spent nearly all day looking at various basses online and im going out of my mind! These suggestions have opened my eyes to some basses that i never even considered before... I am trying to narrow my findings down to a short list of a couple of basses that i could track down and test. Currently interested in - ESP ltd as mentioned at the start (question marks over it being a LTD?) Gibson SG (are they all short scale?) Stirling Musicman (no idea how good these are, but i like the look!) Fender Jaguar (cant find any for sale!) G&L Tribute SB-2 (i dont know a lot about G&L but did enjoy playing one last week) So there you go... feel free to comment on any of those!
G&L , No Contest, unless you can find a Cort GB74. Cort make G&L and Lakland and Ibanez and some Frnders and wouldn't mind betting they make Stirlings as well. I would persoanlly go for an L2000. THE most adaptable bass on the market. I ended up putting a very expensive boutique bass away after Set 1 last night and got my trusty G&L L2500 out. Have never failed to get a great sound out of it. You should be able to score an L2000 Tribute for a decent price. G&L was Leo Fenders last company in partenship with George Fullerton, so he took everything he learned with Fender & Musicman and built the G&L range. I've had 3 L2500's, (only to get the right combination of Blueburst/Maple), and would add to the collection in a heartbeat.
 8.
Good evening, all... Just for the anecdote... Back in 2006, Macao Parker was billed at our festival in France (3 elephants...); in the afternoon came a message that a 5-string active bass was looked for. The bassist (Rodney "Skeet" Curtis...) had a problem with the electronics of his Lakland, could we find an equivalent..? No, we don't have top-level instruments spare in this corner of France; my son had recently got a bottom-line, run of the mill Cort active fiver, by coincidence with the same pup configuation (although Cort quality, not Lakland...). We offered it for inspection, he changed the strings and action and did a fine set, solos included, with the Cort, which cost just over 200€ new. No-one in the public was disappointed. He signed the back of the bass before leaving (it's worn off since...). Charming bloke, red-hot player. I can confirm that a good bassist can get hot funk from an entry-level instrument (the Ampeg stack helped somewhat...). Just saying...
Not surprising as Cort make Lakland's Skyline range and are pound for pound the best value on the market.
 9. I'm an ex-guitarist and actually never thought of short scale basses when I made the transition. Jumped straight in and went for a 34" scale, although I have a couple of 35's as well.
 10. Have seen them 3 or 4 times, including the latest incarnation that is really just Earth. They are members of the Magic Circle and their stage act was always sensational.
 11.
I've plotted several drivers on WinISD and believe it or not the Eminence Delta 15A is coming out on top overall. I've tried the Celestion BL15-300X & BN15-300X and Eminence Basslite 2515 & the mighty 3015 but the humble Delta 15A seems to perform best in this cab
Believe it or not, I've just sold 2 brand new Delta 15's. Surprised the 3015 didn't do it.
 12.
She's said she's busy, so i guess so.
Figured that. She is one busy bass player.
 13. So a Female Singing Bass Player is looking for a Female Singing Bass Player.
 14. Al, If you bought as a "New" Item, if you are not happy, sent it back. If you are happy to keep it at a reduced price, get on to the retailer and have a go at them for selling you an ex-demo item at a new price and try and get a partial refund.
 15.
The one and the same .... how ya doing bass bunny?
I'm good ta. Took ya long enough to find your way here if you have been playing 30yrs.
 16. Welcome to BC from a fellow North Westener. Same Piggery Bandana as on North West Bands?
 17.
I don't know if this helps at all... All I know is from what I've heard from a lot of Markbass users, it's their heads that shine rather than their speaker systems. Steve
+1 to that. But it does seem to work for some people.
 18.
gone!
Who got it? I have a spare Eminence driver that would be perfect to fix it.
 19.
I agree, personally I wouldn't touch it, it's a beautiful piece of wood. I can't really find any differences between this and the Bacchus Standard, not sure what makes it a Venus??
Me neither. The only difference that is immediately obvious is that mine has Bartolini P/U's and had a Bart pre-amp until I swopped it for an East.
 20.
Would a standard Fender (5 string) scratchplate fit on this?
Mike Walsh of Zoot/Purple Chilli would make one to fit. http://www.purple-chili.com/iceni-zoot/ser...atch-plates.htm That said I used to own the Bacchus Impression that has just sold and now have a Bacchus Standard, (which looks virtually the same as this). Both had clear scratchplates that I didn't think I would like, but in the flesh you realise it would be a sin to cover up such a fantastic piece of wood.
 21. If you decide you CAN live with a 2x10, I have a TecAmp Puma 210 Combo i'm considering selling. Same head as the 212 and as someone who normally uses 12's and 15's, I was staggered by the sound. They are amazingly loud and the "Taste" control is fantastic, (just like the MarkBass VLE and VLF in one). I have played clubs with it, no PA support and been told to turn down.
 22.
I'm about to order decals and lacquer from this lot http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Dec Art Decals are spot on and really great is you want something different as well. Fantastic quality.
 23. I'll have the SIT's. If you PM your PayPal details and jobs a good un. Is your Recurve a 34 or 35 Scale?
 24.
This is a gorgeous bass, and I'm not a massive fan of J basses. I'd be really interested to hear what this sounds like...any sound clips anywhere?
Pretty sure if you check YouTube you may find som demo clips.
 25.
yeah pretty much! are the sizes specific to models/makes or is it pretty much one size fits all??
Try Maplin they do Neutrik ones for about £2. Likey so: Link OK this is a Stereo one, but if it's a Passive Bass, it will still work.
