1.
Is this still for sale?
Haven't you been here before Russ? don't think i would ever sell by L2500
2. Superb Dave. Keep em coming.
3. You're welcome to "butcher" ours. Been using it for years and seems to work. PM me an email address and i'll send it over.
4.
I tried playing in shades once because I thought it would look really cool. Couldn't see a ****ing thing and had to take them off after the first song. What
Luminlay fret markers and/or an RH450 with floor pedal. Sorted
5. With The Blues Brothers Tribute it's Black Suit/White Shirt/White Socks/Black Tie and sunglasses. The function band has logo'd shirts in 2 different colours worn wioth black pants. The Jazz guys it's "whatever"
6.
Me, drummer, guitard: Black shirt, trousers, shoes. Girls: Red dresses. Horns: Multi-coloured zoot suits with matching hats, trousers, waistcoats, ties, spats and shades... I know. Apologies for low-quality pic.
Absolutely love that look.
7. Wizard. No contest. Tell Andy what you want and he will deliver.
8. If you do a search you will find a posting, (or 2), already about the Tanglewaters. Chris May brought the first ones to the Moffat Bass Bash last year just before they were released. They do not look or feel like a budget range at all. The contempory Jazz is a stunner. The idea is to provide an affordable enrtry into Overwater and in that they succeed IMHO
9. As it says on the tin. Happening now. http://www.ustream.t...eo-bass-lessons
10. Anyone doing some research would find the BassChat post with it F/S at £450. The eBay item has an offer option. Offer £450. Simples
11. I went to scholl with ian Waller, co-founder of WAL basses. Played the first bass he ever made, a beautiful P-Bass copy. He was bass player in Herman's Hermits at the time but got "replaced" when they got their record contract as he was a real fatty in those days.
12. Hi Pete, It's Preston/Chorley/Leyland, something like that.... All looks the same to me.
13. Have a good un Pete. Would come and see you but gigging myself.
14.
I'm sure the cabs are 8 Ohmns; they're a pair of EA CXL-112
And thereby hangs the problem. Dave Perry had exactly the same issue with a pair of EA Cabs and a Mark Bass LMK, (2 x LM II's in one). Sent it back to Proel who gave it a clean bill of health. Contacted EA who actually confirmed their cabs are closer to 6 Ohms and so presenting a 3 Ohm load to the Amp, (and it doesn't like it). As an aside the person who bought the EA Cabs also bought an EA iAmp 800 off me and what a conbination that was.....
15. Have owned both and much prefered the Sandberg. Build quality is fantastic, (as you would expect from a German company). Fender have had some QC issues in the past. The neck on the Sandberg is fantastic, (but not as nice as Marleaux IMHO), and you get a lot more bang for your bucks. At the end of the day the Jazz hasn't changed in the last 50+ years, whereas the Sandberg is very much a modern take on it. BUT one man's meat as they say.....
16. Snap. Mines a Blueburst/Maple one.
17. Steve, Make sure you use good quality Speaker Leads. pretty sure OBBM Leads are 4mm Klotz and this is exactly what you need.
18. As someone who converted from Guitar to Bass, i neede a good teacher to get rid of my bad habits. Definately a different ballgame playing Bass from guitar. If the teacher doesn't recognise a known method of "muting", that would set alarm bells ringing for me.
19. Similar Story here. Offered to take the lot, buy the bits I wanted and sell off the rest and give to charity. No response.
20. Interested in a MarkBass Little mark 2 in p/ex?
21.
I've thought about doing a standard, Autumn Leaves maybe, melody, bassline, improv, melody type thing. Would definitely be over the 5 min mark too.
It might be worth getting the clarity of what they understand as Grade 8. Not an unreasonable question. If you decide on the "standards route", Mike Dimns book "The Art of Solo Bass" has the transcriptions for Shadow Of Your Smile, Over the Rainbow and a good Rhythm Changes transcription in a Comping/Melody style. Very effective and lots of room for Improv. If you haven't got the book, I would be happy to scan and email for you.
22. Boogie Down - Al Jarreau. Original is on Synth, so an intereting time learning it.
23. Great guys and just round the corner from our K/B player. Had some great conversations with them. Wish them well as there is nothing like them around for miles.
24. I have a mate who runs a PA Hire Company and is a terrific Sound Engineer. He also deps for one of my bands on guitar. Will give him a shout and post details if he is up for it.
25. I've got a set of plans for an EV designed ported cab that suits a Delta 15A just fine. PM me your email address if you want it.
