1. My main playing bass is a Ric 4003SPC. I recently acquired a MM Stingray 2EQ (through this here forum in fact) and I love it. Ive never been a fan of Fenders, just never got on with them. They felt unwieldy on me so I wasnt sure what to expect from the MM. Happily I can say that my MM is great and i am glad I bought one. Originally it was just to be a back up but it will probably be used a lot more now that ive decided to semi-retire my Ric to the house because i like the MM so much (the Ric is rare and I dont like heaving it all about for rehearsals/gigs so much).
2.
HAve you every been insulted by Mr Hall or his acolytes? I have, just for asking pertinent questions. He recently did so again to a BC forumite. That's my main stance on getting rid of my Ricks; I've just had enough. Furthermore, I have NO problem with a company protecting its rights; it's just the ham-fisted way RIC goes about it that pisses me off.
Not to get involved in this thread topic but i`ll just post something from the other point of view. Ive asked a few times on the ric forums etc questions relating to ric`s, availability of certain models and enquiries as to the best way to go about fixing/improving things, and have always been treated nicely and had my queries answered swiftly and politely (having even had a few good private conversations with said "acolytes"). I have a few different basses, including a Ric, and will not decide that i like or dislike them on my perceived personal opinion of a member of staff of said company. That said law-suits are a largely american thing and not to be approved imho....
3.
Four years of playing isn't a huge amount of time to be fair. I'm on year 32 now and still find things that I struggle with.
I would go with this. Been playing about the same time as icastle and there are still plenty of things out there that i struggle to play. Doesnt make me feel bad though, inspires me to learn how to do them. As a few have said, confidence is a huge part of how well you do play and how well it comes across to others. If you feel a bit crappy or unsure of what you are doing your playing will come across to others like that. If you play like you dont give a f**k what others think, usually (not always!) it`ll come across as supremely confident and sound pretty good too, providing you dont play "too" many bum notes.
4. Xanadu by Rush. Wide Awake by Audioslave shall be learned tonight for tomorrow`s jam - sounds simple enough.
5. I`m currently trying to get a fresh valuation on my Rickenbacker because, apparently, my home contents insurance will cover me but "it must have been valued within the previous 2 years of any claim being made". Having bought it 2 years ago I guess the purchase price/receipt was sufficient but my 2 years are up. Being in Aberdeen its not really handy to walk in to somewhere in London etc so does anyone here have any idea where would do either an over the phone + pics valuation (hard to do i know) or somewhere that isnt 500+ miles away from my house? Any and all suggestions are welcome. Apparently my household contents insurance covers my bass (and equipment) whilst outside the house too - although having bought a nice MM stingray i doubt the Ric will be leaving my house very often now. I guess i need to read up on the small print to confirm that
6. Not bass guitar related but I have an ESP custom 6 string that I have no info about. At all. Serial number is untraceable etc. From late 80`s apparently, maybe. Anyways, slightly sidetracked, Is that ESP message board the best place to go to try to find out any info about it? Tried Selectron, ESP importers in UK but they cant seem to help either. Cheers.
7. Update: Bought a musicman stingray 4 from a fellow forumite on here. Very happy with it so no longer desparate for a Schecter. At least for now.....
8.
black.
I`m with this. Has to be Black.
9. Just listened to your tunes. Excellent stuff. Have a bump on me. Shame you`re so far away from Aberdeen....
10.
Maybe not so close to Aberdeen but saw this on Gumtree (Edinburgh) - seller seems keen as it's been advertised regularly & been reduced from £350 http://www.gumtree.c...finish/97481737
I just dont suit a natural wood finished bass.
11. Hehe. You never know Yeah, i should be heading in this afternoon around 2ish. I`ll give you a call before i head off.
12. Oooh. Arbroath is within an acceptable distance for sure. I`ll PM you with some contact details. As Ou7shined says, i`m also an offshore tigger so any time is good for a visit.
