  1. It isn't that difficult. If you feel confident doing the 2 volume wiring, it shouldn't give you much trouble. I probably have some suitable wiring diagrams and will dig them out later.
  2. You could always replace one of the vol controls with a Single/Series/Parallel switch. That way you get instant switching between the coils and only the 1 Vol control to worry about.
  3. No problem at all. In fact if you check Page 9 of the User Guide it shows you how to set it up this way. https://media.music-group.com/media/PLM/data/docs/P0742/BXR1800H_P0742_M_EN.pdf
  4. If you use a mixer you wouldn't need the amps or look around for a JamHub. Although likely to be more expensive than a Behringer Mixer. This would do the job for less than £50. you would need 1-2 Headphone doubler but that would be it. https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Behringer-XENYX-802-Mixer/2A9?origin=product-ads&utm_campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Behringer&utm_medium=vertical_search&network=google&adgroup=1+-+Product+Level+-+Behringer&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=2961d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=111959736799&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4fHkBRDcARIsACV58_HI8gCRBlYwxPMb3pYGJK_IGP0kxmkZNJJKFbylFJlSVpSXCoUdAi8aAm-JEALw_wcB or https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Behringer-XENYX-1002-Mixer/2A8?origin=product-ads&utm_campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Behringer&utm_medium=vertical_search&network=google&adgroup=1+-+Product+Level+-+Behringer&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=2960d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=84219922573&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4fHkBRDcARIsACV58_ENMNMZqd6mak0QsyvbZ4cHQ_phXEyPKKEekTAJqWkLQI5FlR6JNyQaAkzeEALw_wcB
  5. Cort make Lakland Skylines, G&L Tributes, Some Squiers, Some Fenders, Some Ibanez models. In fact if it says Made in Indonesea, it's likely to come out of the Cort factory so chances are you HAVE played a Cort. Because of this they have the skinny on all the clever "tweaks" employed by the marques they build for and some of these creep into their models.
  6. @sumorabbit If, as I suspect, you are the bass player with Le Funk, I've been to one of your gigs when you had this bass. It is indeed a tone monster. Sounded absolutely awesome from where I was.
  7. Here's a set of Bartolini wiring diagrams where they use resistors to ground on their Active/Passive arrangement. Bartolini XCTC.pdf
  8. One "trick" that is mentioned repeatedly in the repairs and technical section is to plug a jack or lead repeatedly in the effects loop sockets, (both send and return). A squirt of switch cleaner on the jack first is even better. Apparently the effects loop sockets can oxidise over time causing exactly the problem you describe.
  9. So what happens with a seller who puts in his description, "Welcome to come and try"? I've seen that many times. Bet eBay don't delete the item and suspend the seller as they lose their wedge on the sale.
  10. It's a shame you can't get Grover Grime Guard anymore. I had some years back and it was unbelievable for removing scratches. I manages to scratch a brand new Candy Apple Red P Bass removing the scratch plate to tighten the jack socket, (too lazy to remove strings, lesson learnt). It went down to the primer. a quick polish and the scratch was gone. It appears to be able to pick up the surrounding finish and use it to fill in the scratch somehow. A bit like some car scratch removers. awesome product.
  11. Altrincham is closing as well.
  12. I think 21st March is the Spring Solstice 😉
  13. Haven't TC recently been acquired by the same company that owns Behringer? This could be stock being cleared out by the old distributor as no doubt the new company will have a different setup.
  14. You could try Mike Walsh of Zoot Bass fame. He has access to some unbelievable "helium filled" ply that is really lightweight. Not sure he would be up for it as he is concentrating on bass builds at the moment and the cab building side of the business has been wound down. That said, if you don't ask.
  15. I'm with Andy on this. There is a club that we play regularly where myself and keyboard player have the same problem. We know what to expect now and just get on with it.
  16. The 12 month warranty thing really gets to me. One of the more useful piece of EU legislation is EU Directive (1999/44/EC) which states that "a two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU. I have successfully used this directive to challenge the "standard" 12 month warranty currently offered by everyman and his dog and to great effect. Fender could argue that a musical instrument is not a consumer item, but you are a consumer and it is an item so it's still worth a shot.
  17. There is a similar post to this in the gear/amps section and one suggestion, that seemed to work, is to insert/remove a jack a number of times into the send/return sockets. These can oxidise over time. Spraying a jack with switch cleaner first would be even better. It is a pretty common problem in most makes of amp particularly when they are getting on in years.
  18. Saw this on a Facebook selling site. Quilter Bass Block for £300. Seems like a bargain and having spoken to the seller he seems a really nice and honest guy. https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/permalink/1493838087416188/?sale_post_id=1493838087416188&ref=messenger_banner
  19. For anyone interested, there's one F/S on Facebook for £300. https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/permalink/1493838087416188/?sale_post_id=1493838087416188&ref=messenger_banner
  20. That is awesome and bookmarked. We always fancied doing a bit of TOP but couldn't get our horn section to score the. Could be a quick win.
  21. Already got my tickets booked for Manchester. They toured UK in 2017 and played Manchester for the first time in 15 years. I got a chance to speak to Rocco for a few minutes. Coming back 18 months later is awesome. Unfortunately Rocco is now "retired" from touring.
  22. Here's a bit of info from one of the "sleuths" on the SGC-Nanyo Facebook page and the accompanying reply to a customer support enquiry fro Deviser: "There has always been an air of mystery surrounding who exactly SGC Nanyo was. All that anyone who happened to play one of these instruments knew was that they had a top quality well built instrument in their hands. I am yet to confirm that SGC stood for Sexton Guitar Company that was an english guitar manufacturer that the japanese electronic company Nanyo (Nanyo Boeki) acquired. Now here's some information that I had confirmed by email in the early hours of this morning. As you probably have seen on other recent posts Momose (Yasuo)(a person not a company) is a japanese luthier/guitar builder who built The Jazz basses for Bass Collection and it turns out and this is the interesting bit that he was the guitar builder who made the neck's and body's for the japanese built SGC Nanyo guitars and basses. As far as I can tell the finish, hardware, pickups and electronics were applied and installed elsewhere in Japan. For me this is important information as this further confirms that our instruments are top quality. Momose Yasuo is a highly skilled and highly regarded luthier/guitar builder just look at the quality of his work and the price points of his current work reflects his skill. But at around £2,500.00 for a boutique hand crafted guitar in all variations the price really isn't that bad. On a final note this background information on our instruments pedigree really should make us realise that our SGC Nanyo Basses really are undervalued and that even if we paid the top RRP from new, we paid a good price. And personally I believe that once people start to catch on to the background and pedigree of these instruments and as they become older and rarer, we might just see the price of these SGC Nanyo's increasing. Here's the email confirming Momose Yasuo's part and involvement in the SGC Nanyo company and brands."
  23. Nope, the serial number will give you the year of manufacture. 1st 2 digits are the year. I found a clue to 2 of mine in the heel pocket. When i removed the neck it had SB*** series stamped in it. The rest of the model would be down to active/passive etc.
  24. There's a massive thread in the Bass Guitars section called "Obscure Musical Backwaters". Tons of information here.
