Bass Collection SB310 Active - Pick up installation
BassBunny replied to aquiel's topic in Bass Guitars
I spotted that but the impression I got was that he has just bought them, so maybe they are available. I'm not a massive fan of Delanos but I do have a Bart pre-map on one of my Bass Collections and that might be nice with Bart pickups. -

Thanks Pete. I know Delano make a set as well. -

Bass Collection SB310 Active - Pick up installation

Well if that is how it was wired previously, I'd give it a go. Do you know it will actually fit as I didn't think they were standard Fender size. Only reason I ask is I've got 3 Bass Collection 5 strings and want to change the pickups on one and the only pickups I can find that fit are Delano, which I don't particularly like. -

Yes, I assume they are joined for a reason. Did you not buy it new?' -

I would say the red on on the SD goes where the white of the Bass Collection goes and the screen is the same in both cases. -

Have you tried Dave Lunt in Stockport?

There are tons of free converters available. A quick trip to Mr Google with "flac to mp3 converter free" will give loads of choice. I use Media Human as it's a simple Drag and Drop interface. The saving method you mentioned in your post might not have saved the "tags" and that might have an impact on Sonos. you may have to do some tag editing anyway after the conversion but from memory Media H does the job fine.

+1 for one of the original SGC Nanyo Bass Collections. These were £500 upward basses back in the day and sell for around £200. Made in Japan with Gotoh hardware and excellent build quality and light as a feather.

Or you could buy a Noll Mixpot and both pickups are 100% in the centre position. It would require room for a battery and is a lot more expensive than V/B/T. http://noll-electronic.de/guitar-electronics/mixpot/

I'll leave @Bill Fitzmaurice to answer this as it seems to be a very common topic.

NBD Squier Precision Bass for restoration
BassBunny replied to Grahambythesea's topic in Bass Guitars
I remember reading somewhere that Candy Apple Red isn't actually a single colour. It's made up of 3 different shades that are sprayed on the body. I had a Squire VM in CAR and had the same problem trying to get that colour. All is not lost however as Renault have a colour that they brought out a few years back that looks identical. I spotted a car just outside a pub were playing in that colour and took the bass to compare it and pretty much bob on. Never got to a dealer to find out what it was called though. -
Our vocalist has now bought an Evox 8 for his Solo/duo work, leaving the Maui's to the band. The Evox is seriously loud.
-
Much easier. No stand to erect and no cabinets to lift in the air.
-
We've been using an LD Maui 5 system for about 3 years now and it has never been lacking. It's actually "badged" Fender Expo, (and cheaper that than LD version as some of the unnecessary bells and whistles were removed". When our singer bought one for his solo work and said how good they were, we put the whole band through just 1 of them. That was 4 Vox, Keys, Drums and it filled a function room. Result being I bought a 2nd one next day.

Best piece of advice you'll get today. Absolutely spot on @stingrayPete1977 and something largely ignored by a lot of bands.
-
Yep, that looks like it. Cheers.

Fabulous basses. I had one that was a lot more roadworn than yours, (think Rory Gallagher), but sounded awesome. The mention of knobs has reminded me. @ped did you post a link to a site that had an awesome range of control knobs some time ago? I remember it and have been searching for the post.

Here is the wiring for the 3-way switch that someone did to an OLP so exactly what is needed. they only went for Parallel/Series, but it's the same wiring if you use a different switch. You will need to identify which wires go to which coils so a multimeter would be handy. As there are 2 whites and one appears to be grounded on one of the pots, I assume, (maybe not), white is the ground for each coil so substitute White for Black on this diagram. Green and Red I assume are the pickup hot and black is a common earth. the switch you need is a DPDT On/On/On

@gary mac the last pic shows a red and white wire joined together and not soldered to anything. As suggested it looks like a previous owner has wired the pickup in series configuration. The soldering/wiring in general is pretty bad to say the least.
