  1. Great series and really enjoyed it.
  2. There are probably a number of Luthiers that could make you one and to exactly your specification. I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions to follow. Not sure if it would be cost prohibitive but I enquired a while back to have a custom neck made by Philip Porter in Manchester and he quoted around £300. I know Mike Walsh, Zoot Bass, has done necks in the past and he is Kent way, so maybe not too far from you.
  3. Stonking speakers. I have a set in my kitchen and they sound fabulous. If you were nearer, I'd snatch your hand off.
  4. They are great strings. I got introduced to them when buying an ACG and fortunately still have a couple of sets. I believe they were Jack Bruce's string of choice.
  5. I'd try Wembley Loudspeakers. If they can't do it, not sure who can.
  6. Cracking job and now you've got me thinking. Quick question, when you removed the grill as well as the screws did it have some non-setting adhesive gunk securing it as well? I'm chasing a strange kind of vibration in mine. Only happens on certain notes and when I removed the grill it had the aforementioned gunk holding it on as well as screws. Wondering if that is how they leave the factory or has the previous owner been chasing the same problem.
  7. I got one for my Son, who is a guitarist, and he uses it a hell of a lot when composing. Better than just knocking out chords on your own.
  8. And here it is. I remember seeing it at the Moffat Bass Bash just after Rich built it. In fact he bought a Seymour Duncan pre-amp off me to put in it. Sounded awesome.
  9. Jeez was it that long ago. How time flies.😊
  10. That was the case until about 2-3 years ago but then MB went Class D in the LM series, but not sure if the MoMark went that way as well. The MPT tag is apparently MB's own Class D design. They aren't using the same modules that everyone else uses. Like ebenezer, I don't get on with Class D. Have tried virtually every one and they seem gutless compared to my Class A/B Markbass SA450. If it is indeed true that MB have their own Class D design, I might need to give it a whirl.
  11. I think it sounds like the venue wiring issue as well. I find it quite annoying when YOU get asked for PAT testing certificates for your gear but ask a venue for the certification of their electrics and you just get a "What" stare back. A couple of venues we used to play at would never pass testing purely on a visual basis.
  12. ACG or Zoot or ACG
  13. The Hotrails is a Humbucker not a single coil like the original so do you want it series or parallel wired?
  14. Get the dots changed for larger Luminlay ones would be my choice.
  15. +1 for Steve Robinson but you could also try Philip Porter who is based in Salford. http://www.philipporterguitars.co.uk/ He did an amazing job sorting a neck out for me.
  16. Bit of info here. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/278881-new-cab-day-fmc-1126-neo/
  17. I would say the stray black wire is the earth to the pots and pickup. If it reaches I would say it belongs with the black on the jack socket. If not the jack could have spun round and the wire pulled off. The push/pull could be some kind of coil split which probably won't do anything until the stray black is re-connected.
  18. -1. True but all my 5 ers, (4 of them), have very slim necks so the overall feel isn't as bulky/chunky as say a P Bass and all are way more comfortable than most 4 strings. -2. Again not necessarily so. The heaviest of my 5's is 8.25Lbs. The other 3 are all mid 7 Lbs.
  19. He's been retired. Pineweasel included this link above. https://www.bassplayer.com/artists/rocco
  20. They used to be standard on ACG's and you could buy direct from Alan but as mentioned above he is using Newtone now. The Great British Bass Lounge used to stock them
  21. Ah, I didn't clock that article and it's sad they have had to retire him. He was with them a couple of months ago on Later with Jools and the deed must have been done just after that.
  22. I don't think he is "retired" as such. He has health issues and has a rest now and again. Saw them at Manchester Academy last October and Rocco was playing then. Had a chat with him and he seemed OK. absolutely awesome band.
