+1 for ACG

One went on Simon Charles Auctions for £5.

I'd try contacting BF to ask if they use a sealant/adhesive when attaching the control plate. If not a careful bit of prising may be the order of the day, otherwise, front off, remove speaker and do it that way.

Ampeg BXT410HLF4 Replacement Speakers
BassBunny replied to Ted Theodore Logan, III's topic in Amps and Cabs
Why not get Wembley Loudspeaker to repair the faulty speaker? -
That's the same pre-amp that is in some SGC Nanyo Bass Collections and Tune Maniacs, and i know it well. With the bass strapped on and looking down at the controls: Top Left is Volume, Top Right is Bass - Cut and Boost, Bottom Left is Blend and Bottom Right is Treble - Cut and Boost. So your picture is pretty much correct although you marked the right hand controls as "tone" and not Bass/Treble. Regarding the strap pin, cocktail sticks are a good solution. A dab of superglue on the stick before you shove it in the hole is a good idea.
-
You also need to be careful that the matte spray paint you want to use won't react with your existing finish
-
Is it active or passive, (ie is there a battery anywhere.Could be a battery box on the back of the bass or inside the control cavity)? A picture of the inside of the control cavity would help.

What a gent Karl is. I bought his Genz Benz Contour kit from him and as we are some distance apart geographically, we arranged to meet up in Salford where he had a couple of days meeting. Fast forward a week or so and he ended up making a short detour on the way to drop the kit off at mine. You can't have better service than that Thanks for the deal Karl and great Customer Service.

Forgot about Artec preamps if funds are limited. Cracking for the price and I put an SE-2 in the Bass Collection I have just sold.
-
As an owner of 3, (sorry 2 now, just sold one), Bass Collections maybe I can help. All 3 had different pre-amps but the one you have in my opinion is the worst one. It does not seem to have the same degree of cut/boost/volume that the others have. My personal choice would be to replace with a Glockenklang. I have one in my Carvin and am looking to put one in one of my surviving Bass Collections. As you would have to get new knobs for the Glock as they have smooth shaft controls, you could either get the 2 band 4 knob or the 3 band 4 knob. Both have active/passive switching. I am also familiar with East pre- amps which are stonking but twice the price. Bartolini pre-amps are great as well. I have one in one of my Bass Collections but I reckon the Glock is the best price/performance package if you shop around. You could also consider Knoll, standard on the early Sandbergs. Regarding pick-ups, I can only speak of 5 strings but they are not standard Fender size but are a size you can get, (if that makes sense). You would need to measure them. You could get them rewound/rebuilt which would solve any problems of fitting and that way you get to specify the kind of sound you are after. There are plenty of options for re-winds but Aaron Armstrong, of Kent Armstrong, comes to mind. As a long time Bass Collection owner I would be more than happy to have a chat and answer any questions if you want to PM me your phone number.

Just drop Nick Wells a message either on here @nick@ibassmag or on the Beneath The Bassline site and I am sure he will help you out. I guess the "One Shot" process is to avoid people sharing the link and and non payers getting the download for free.
-
I managed to download it OK, although pretty slow. It's worth the wait though. It is a seriously impressive piece of work.
-
You should get a 2nd email with an Apology and the link. Mine is downloading as we speak.
-
I'd say it's an absolute bargain.

New bass options, Vigier/Status/ACG/Strandberg choices hmmmmmm

ACG without a doubt. -
To wire them in series there is only one way to wire them and Geoff's analysis is correct and it is a seriously bad idea. What is it you are trying to achieve?
-
Beat me to it Geoff.

Nobody can tell you what it will sound like unless they have done exactly what you are proposing but the overall output is likely to be around 40W max, so considerably quieter. The combo will only deliver the rated 100W RMS with a 4 Ohm load. You are going to end up with a 12 Ohm load and an output imbalance between each speaker.
-
It is a very bad idea. From memory the Rumble 100 does not have an ext speaker output and as you say the internal 4 Ohm speaker is designed to get the maximum output from the amp. Adding an 8 Ohm speaker in series would reduce the output considerably due to the increased impedance.

This would be my dream gig. wish you were Manchester based and good luck for the future. -
I saw an ad on a FB site where the guy used an Ikea Laptop Support to stop his amp sliding off. I thought it had been fabricated as a one off. It's on my shopping list the next time I go to Ikea. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/smart-home-appliances/cables-chargers/bräda-laptop-support-black-art-60150176/
