I agree, in theory the weight of the body should keep the neck straight because when it’s hanging the weight is at the bottom

Most of mine hang on the wall and have always been fine ,I’ve a few in cases , and a few on a rack, I’ve found the worst thing for them is temperature change, I keep an old fender jazz bass in my summerhouse which gets cooler at night and always needs re tuning so the neck definitely moves.

I’m looking forward to seeing the end result, it’s great to have a bass project on the go , so much fun 👍

Ub40 were great in the 80s , not so good now .

I have flats on 7 of my jazzes and rounds on my p basses , I prefer the feel and the mellowed sound of the flats for reggae , but a few months ago I put a set of Picato halfround 45- 100 on a jazz and the sound is great they have a smooth feel , no fret noise , but the clarity of rounds, I took the mids down on my amp and still got nice deep lows , really nice tone 😀

LeftyJ how did you fit a switchable bass boost to a passive jazz, I like this idea 🙂

The best was a tokai jazz bass , I didn’t really need it, just a Saturday morning buy , well I was really impressed, the pickups are really responsive, very comfortable slim neck , well balanced and fitted with d addario tapes ,monster sound . Imo better than some of my us jazzes Didnt really have a worst 😀

Yeah DV247 I found really good, I tried the fender jb elite in there really nice guys . . ,apart from the ones you mentioned there’s not much else , I quite like Andy Baxter but he’s a touch pricey

I’ve had exactly the same experience in the Romford branch ,I don’t blame you for walking, you would think they would be accommodating to get the sale
