  1. I have both jazzes and precision’s and going by what I play most, it’s the jazz with la Bella flats for me 🙂
  2. I’ve been looking on and off for about a year now for an early fender jazz bass but just haven’t found the right one yet for one reason or another, the way I see it is , I’ve no problem investing in something that I’m going to get immense pleasure out of and is going to accumulate in value at the same time, win win I think 😀
  3. Thanks for that GuyR they are fab 👍
  4. I was told in the studio that by feeling the ramp below your fingers it stops you digging in too much and forces you to play with a lighter touch 🙂
  5. You don’t see many of those around, that fingerboard looks inviting 👍
  6. I use one most of the time , they stop the open strings ringing out and they give me the slightly muted sound I like . I also use foam under the strings at the bridge sometimes which gives a nice dampened sound to your fretted notes. They were quite expensive when they came out but you can get them from eBay now for about £4 🙂
  7. I saw this a few days ago as I’m looking for an early 70s jb , the neck binding seems to be in fairy good condition compared to the body , which to me looked like it had been deliberately reliced also there’s what looks like a crack at the neck pocket, the seller said it’s all original as far as he knows.
  8. Yeah I’m not a fan of wire wool , the little fibres go everywhere.
  9. I think they’re great because they don’t scratch like some sandpaper does , they use them in spray shops for sanding in between coats of polish 🙂
  10. I don’t think you will need to take it back to bare wood, I’ve had a few necks that were really sticky even after cleaning with everything, so I decided to take the surface layer off , and I used these nibbing down pads , b&q also sell them , which are used in cabinet making , the necks came out silky smooth 🙂
  11. So many songs, Thanks for sharing .
  12. Really nice looking bass, I imagine it sounds great with the flats fitted 👍
  13. I totally agree and I found the more you involve yourself the more things make musical sense
  14. Really good, I’ve seen a similar list in one of my books 👍
  15. Stunning chewie 😍 it looks like it has the square neck plate aswell
  16. I actually prefer your one over the, little stubby 🙂
  17. Didn’t they use something like this on the original https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F323664374783
