Becominga bass player at 60 in 2018 means one will never make money at it and will, quite frankly, be laughed at.
You are never too old to learn bass ,or any instrument for that matter, and not very friendly advise imo
I have one and IMO they’re great you can get some serious low end but the mids And highs are crystal clear the tweeter doesn’t really seem to do anything much. They are very light and really well made. I was using the ashdown mag 115 deep which I still have but the markbass is far superior in every way If you’re in east London or Essex area you’re welcome to have a go on mine
You are definitely doing the right thing trying different approaches, 2 years ago I decided to really improve my muting techniques and switched to the’ moveable thumb’ technique and it really works for me, just find what works for you 😀
As Norris says And imo You can overthink these things just get some solid Basslines together play how you feel comfortable and then you can start refining your techniques in time ,the more you play you will find you start to do these things automatically
I bought a set of D'Addario half rounds 45-100 for my jb they feel very smooth and are a nice quality string , they are definitely a brighter tone than all my other flats and I don’t get the finger noise that I get from roundwound strings
