1. Just never sell it! then you can do what you like with it.
2. Snarky Puppy meets Dirty Loops! Dirty Snarky Poops?
3. Tesco Value Bass?
4. Yes, the Palmer one does too: Passive DI box. Jack input with paralell "THRU" output, transformer balanced XLR output. Attenuable input sensitivity, can handle both line level and speaker level signals. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'd like to build something in, but this looks like a good starting point.
5. Years ago I used to run an old Roland Cube 60 (the orangey ones) with my Sessionette guitar amp sat on top of it. Turned the bass down a bit on the guitar amp. Quite a clean but aggressive sounding setup and seemed plenty loud. Those Sessionettes are pretty much indestructible.
6. Links open fine. Nice one.
7. It's really handy having 2 of the same model - should be a cinch for your guy to pinpoint the issue.
8. Nice one beer, looks just the ticket! Just got to find that transformer from about 30 years ago now...
9. Hi all Has anyone added a transformer balanced DI to the speaker output of a small valve amp? I imagine some dropper resistors would be in order, or is it more involved than that? Cheers MBA
10. If the nut is cut oddly or worn, the string may not be vibrating from the front of the nut, but further back (in the direction of the tuners) This would have the effect of making the lower frets sharp, becoming less noticeable higher up and, of course bang on at 12th, as that's where you checked the intonation. I wouldn't have thought this effect would be very noticeable though.
11. Yeah, just plug n play with 12AX7/ecc83 types. I did this on my Trace guitar amp on Sunday which cured an odd after-note noise completely.
12. ok, more info needed. Are all the notes in the problem range sharp or flat? Check them with a good tuner.
13. +1 to W.O.T.s rapid wit. Makes the rest of us look like Klotz.
14. Could it be that performance anxiety for the recording is making you unconsciously press harder than usual, pulling the notes sharp?
15. Well, a bit of an update. I left it for a while in case the affected area had gone soft or something, but the Autosol still wasn't doing it. This made me think even more that it was the solvent in it causing the problem, as it does smell a bit petrol-like. So I tried something with a fine abrasive but no nasty solvent. So, toothpaste it was!. At first it seemed no better, but a bit of elbow grease brought the shine back. What a relief, and minty fresh too! I count that as a good save, and free too. Hope this may help someone else in the future.
16. Nice one. They're cool little amps, and sound good with guitar too. The eq is a bit quirky to use. I've done my last 2 gigs with one, into a couple of decent 12" cabs.
17. Nah, just a nasty itch!
18. Cutlass reminds me of a Bronco for some reason.
19. I'd say, given the similarity of construction, the tension would be about the same.
20. You can put 2 caps in series to halve the value or in parallel to double. That's probably the range of values most people will muck about with anyhow...
21.
Sorry to hear that. I'm assuming it's a 74 Gibson SG, which means Nitro. So it sounds like a reaction with the Dunlop stuff. There is Silicone in the Dunlop 65, which is not good for Nitro. Can you post pics? I'm pretty sure I've used Autosol on Nitro before, as well as the Meguiars Ultimate I mentioned earlier. This (Ultimate) is more mild in terms of abrasive so I usually use this on Nitro (nitro is generally softer than Poly).
I tried a bit of the Autosol on the back and the reaction wasn't so bad - it removed a scuff but still took some work to polish out. Maybe it is just going over the reacted bit on the front that is not working properly. I wonder if I should try something a little coarser first then go back to the Autosol?
22. I bought some Dunlop polish yesterday, worked fine cleaning finger marks off a poly covered guitar. Tried it on my old SG ('74). Bloody disaster. The finish has gone cloudy and very satin. Tried some Autosol and that is no better. Any of the other products mentioned above remedy this issue? Cheers
23. Just south of Oxford, I can do set-ups and soldering, surface-mount component rework, fret levelling. I don't charge for work, as it's been mostly for friends and bc'ers. I'm Jules, btw.
24.
Reverting to another post by the OP (above), if we were to turn up and play for £250 and then find that she had also engaged a DJ and was paying him £500, that wouldn't worry me. I'm not concerned about how much others earn.
.. And that's why you're happy, Jack
