1. My guitarist uses a Simon & Patrick cedar which doesn't sound bad, though it needed a good setup. The finish is very thin which gives it a nice resonance, but he's very heavy-handed and has gone right through the finish round the sound hole. Personally, I find the sound a little boxy. I also own the Ami parlour from the same stable and that's ok, but cheaper. I think for similar money, the Faith acoustics are worth a look.
2. What a strange bass sound.
3. Looking nice. I have 2 questions: Is it heavy? I know it's a short scale, but it looks quite thick. Will you have to take the strings off to change the battery?
4. The Spinning wheel in the front at Paignton has bands on a lot. Always a good atmosphere when we've played there, but we do bring a coachload of folks with us. The pub next door seems to put a lot of bands on too.
5. Last year I learned Wichita Lineman, as it's such a nice song. Tip - it has great chords, but if you want to play along to the original, tune the whole thing down a semitone. It make the chords SO much easier to play! I found out Glen Cambell tuned down, and it makes sense from a guitar player's perspective, as everything suddenly falls under the fingers. Or just sing it in the higher key.
6. I bet that HH combo weighs more than the p.a.!
7. Line arrays shouldn't be all that directional, that's the big point about them, surely? The ones in the link ^ say 120 degrees horizontal dispersion...
8. A little oil will lubricate the paper, and you can get a slightly smoother finish. It may also slow down the rusting process for the future.
9. I've been trying some things out and the most odd thing happened. I've got one quite tuneful track and two atonal ones in a different time signature. I was just reviewing what I'd got down so far, mixed up the atonal tracks, and it sounded like a descent into insanity, like a waking nightmare almost. I had to get up and walk around to shake it off. I really wasn't expecting that. May have to tone it down or sweeten it before I play it to anyone.
10. Is the steel chrome plated? 1000 wet n dry will take out fine scratches ok and leave a reasonable shine, especially if done with a little oil. You'd want to take the pickup covers off so they don't get scuffed, obv.
11. Yes, interesting program.
12. That's a great update. I'm sure someone will find this useful in the future.
13. Hmm, the guy at our jazz jam used one with his db and it never sounded less than fine. I bought one on behalf of a friend and that sounded fine at house volume too, especially for 35 quid or so s/h.
14. At least the lugging isn't as bad as it used to be!
15. You can download a boss tuner app free. Gotta be worth a go for nowt!
16.
The criteria for attribution of your vote are entirely up to you. There is no 'Skol Force' about to swoop down on those deigning to ignore the suggestions, despite all his bravado and bluster. Do as you think best, decide how you wish, invoke the hidden Punk in you, and be satisfied that you've made at least someone happier. 'Does it fit the picture..?' was the original notion, but we've come a long way down the anarchy trail since then (sic Lenny. and a few other rebels..). Feel free, old chum; feel free...
Have I missed something here? What's mr. smalls done?
17. Just sold Jim a bridge for his new bitsa project, great comms all the way, swift payment, recommended! Cheers Jules
18. He controls the decay of the notes very differently, far more staccato.
19. The little Peavey microbass combo sounds surprisingly good and are cheap as chips.
20. That's horrible. What were the circumstances?
21. And he's off! The Fat Womble costume is catching up with the panto horse and the guy in the Deep Sea Diver's costume. Probably too slow a start to catch Paula Radcliff, unless she takes even longer than usual having her mid-race dump....
22. Back up to the top. I'm pretty sure this will fit in a standard Fender 5 screw bridge position.
