1.
There was one exception involving an invisible bear.😁 Blue
_
2. Making money? That's a good one!
3. It does seem a pretty massive assumption that all the gear will be laid on without even asking. It's a good job I will probably do all the lending, as I know of many on here who have stated that they would not, and I totally understand why! I'm normally easy going, but this has even got me slightly peeved! My drummer, on the other hand, may turn a bit pissy if he thinks he's being taken for a ride (or a crash!), as he doesn't have the means to replace his gear as readily as I.
4. We're doing 3 gigs in a row with 3 American bands who are on a mini tour. At this point, I should make it clear I am not the point of contact in this band! Our man contacted one of the 'merkins to check what bits our drummer would need to bring for the first gig tonight. Guess what? "Could you bring the whole kit please?". "And we will need 2 guitar amps". "Oh, and a bass rig" This was at 1pm on the day of the gig (today), I packed all the gear I'm taking (amp, cab, guitar amp) last night and going straight there from work. Not going home to get my other guitar amp. I hope the venue has a PA. Can anyone confirm the Beehive in Swindon has a house PA? Cheers. Oh, rant over!
5. I know a friend's band ("Definitely Britpop") who use a pair of the bigger Bose Line arrays with the Bose subs. They get on just fine with everything going just through it, including the bass, I think.
6. It's all happening this week folks: http://www.thearmoires.com/ https://soundcloud.com/huxley-rittman https://soundcloud.com/the-new-moon https://www.facebook.com/plasticsoulmusic
7. I wouldn't give it a second thought, it will make no difference WHATSOEVER to how it plays.
8. Sorted, thanks to ebay. Anyone need 5 of the above off an '88 U.S Strat....
9. Just watching the full thing for the first time in a while, thought there was a good variety of stuff I've not heard before. Pretty good on the whole.
10. Ah, thanks guys! Seems like i might not have been too far off in my thoughts. My google-fu must have been playing up when I searched for vintage DiMarzio....
11. Hi All 3 american bands are touring this month, and we (Charms Against the Evil Eye) are playing with them on 3 of their dates,: Swindon, Beehive 23rd May Oxford, Jericho tavern 25th May Northampton, Labour Club 26th May The American bands are The Armoires, PlasticSoul and Huxley Rittman and the Rusty Hitmen, various flavours of pop, psyche and rock. Facebook events for Swindon, Oxford and Northampton respectively: https://www.facebook.com/events/1921257524816668/ https://www.facebook.com/events/1420201711389107/ https://www.facebook.com/events/1587245251315572/ It would be great if any of you could come along and make our American Friends feel welcome!
12. A friend of mine has a strat with a replacement middle pickup that he loves. While i was at his place, he phoned the luthier who fitted it to ask what it was. The reply came: "dunno, you supplied it!" So, can anyone think of a strat pickup with adjustable hex key pole screws? I first thought DiMarzio, like the bass pickups, but haven't seen any pictures of old ones that bear this out. The cover is very worn, very cream. Any thoughts?
13. Good luck with that, looks like fun. I wonder why they moved it from Culham? It's getting further and further from long Whittenham!
14. My guitarist has an American Traditional telecaster from around that era and some of the parts bear a striking resemblance to my Korean Squier. I thought I'd read they were oriental parts, assembled in the U.S. it was just about the only us Telecaster with top loading bridge, like my Squier.
15. He'd probably have slammed that too!
16. I agree on some recordings the panning of toms and hihats can be a bit extreme and makes it sound disconnected from the rest of the kit.
17.
I find it annoying you can't leave it plugged in , I like leaving a bass set up in my office
Get yourself a lead with a Neutrik silent plug Jack on it to prevent those nasty pops. They're grrrrreat!
18. He's good, isn't he?
19. Ages, just don't leave a lead plugged in when you're not using it.
20. The 2nd tune is also good, but shows perhaps a too-obvious Portishead influence, which I happen to like. Will you be entering our monthly composition challenge? From what I've heard you will do well!
21. Sounds good to me. I like the way you've layered the vocals, very upfront and lush at the same time.
22. Handy if you're playing in a U2 tribute with a dodgy guitarist
23. I think membership includes some health insurance. I know someone who gets a treatment in Germany for a hand condition that isn't available here, paid by the insurance.
