1. Just watching the full thing for the first time in a while, thought there was a good variety of stuff I've not heard before. Pretty good on the whole.
2. Ah, thanks guys! Seems like i might not have been too far off in my thoughts. My google-fu must have been playing up when I searched for vintage DiMarzio....
3. Facebook events for Swindon, Oxford and Northampton respectively: https://www.facebook.com/events/1921257524816668/ https://www.facebook.com/events/1420201711389107/ https://www.facebook.com/events/1587245251315572/ It would be great if any of you could come along and make our American Friends feel welcome!
4. A friend of mine has a strat with a replacement middle pickup that he loves. While i was at his place, he phoned the luthier who fitted it to ask what it was. The reply came: "dunno, you supplied it!" So, can anyone think of a strat pickup with adjustable hex key pole screws? I first thought DiMarzio, like the bass pickups, but haven't seen any pictures of old ones that bear this out. The cover is very worn, very cream. Any thoughts?
5. Good luck with that, looks like fun. I wonder why they moved it from Culham? It's getting further and further from long Whittenham!
6. My guitarist has an American Traditional telecaster from around that era and some of the parts bear a striking resemblance to my Korean Squier. I thought I'd read they were oriental parts, assembled in the U.S. it was just about the only us Telecaster with top loading bridge, like my Squier.
7. He'd probably have slammed that too!
8. I agree on some recordings the panning of toms and hihats can be a bit extreme and makes it sound disconnected from the rest of the kit.
9.
I find it annoying you can't leave it plugged in , I like leaving a bass set up in my office
Get yourself a lead with a Neutrik silent plug Jack on it to prevent those nasty pops. They're grrrrreat!
10. He's good, isn't he?
11. Ages, just don't leave a lead plugged in when you're not using it.
12. The 2nd tune is also good, but shows perhaps a too-obvious Portishead influence, which I happen to like. Will you be entering our monthly composition challenge? From what I've heard you will do well!
13. Sounds good to me. I like the way you've layered the vocals, very upfront and lush at the same time.
14. Handy if you're playing in a U2 tribute with a dodgy guitarist
15. I think membership includes some health insurance. I know someone who gets a treatment in Germany for a hand condition that isn't available here, paid by the insurance.
16. I see. Flipping nuisance either way.
17. Can't you fill and recut? 0.5mm is less than the width of the fret either side of the tang. A bit of flame maple binding might look nice too...
18. ^ that's actually really good advice, save yourself a horrid job!
19. Thanks, the first link looks good, I find the smaller ones a little too fiddly.
20. Why not put a link up and let anyone who fancies have a crack at it? Like a Great British Master Off?
21. It's a pain in the @rse! I did it with an 80s Vox Standard. I tried Nitromors, heat gun and scraper and sanding. It seemed to take ages. I suppose the yellow seemed a good idea at the time...
22. So, how does it sound?
