1. Shame I can't get SoundCloud at work
2.
... and more bolero than tango, but who's dancing, anyway..? Yes, the very lightly-brushed drums do add; well done.
Yes, a lot of boleros! I played it to a mate, and he said it sounded like when you have 2 different youtube sessions playing at the same time
3. If you could prise one end of the handle off, heat shrink tubing would do the job.
4. Agreed, super honest commentary.
5.
Due to rain today and a few moments spare I had a brief fiddle.... https://soundcloud.com/leonard-smalls/the-big-bossa
That's nice and odd. Brings to mind 8-bit video game music.
6. That looks like a handy all-round piece of kit. Great score for £45!
7. Is there a reason the pickup can't be re wound? Should be possible as long as they aren't epoxy potted.
8. You asked for it: ideas, 7, ability, nil, what a thrashing! Here you go: https://soundcloud.com/julian-moss-511168525/tango-triste BOOM!! Early for once!
9. I've just knocked something together. The question now is whether to try and put drums on it and make it worse. I suspect Len Goodman would dislocate his hip trying to dance to it, what with the alternating bars of 9 and 7, and the random odd 8 thrown in there. Despite that, I think it sounds quite romantic. So: to drum or not to drum....?
10. JC aren't amps usually associated with drive!
11. The pink one would look nice being played by Lady Penelope. Good match for the Rolls.
12. I've had a fretless neck done with black lines. Pretty much invisible from a distance against a rosewood (actually, pao ferro) board. Carefully applied Sharpie would achieve similar temporary effect.
13. The solo on the single version of 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago is concise and flippin ace. Terry Kath was the shizz. The horns ain't too shabby either. Could only find the album length version on YouTube
14. These sound decent with guitar too. Re d.I., I run the speaker output through a Studiospares d.I. box, then on to the speaker, records great for that output valve clipping sound. Lovely!
15. Agreed, you can sit or stand on the cabs just like any other. Just out of interest Bill, what does your own Jack lite weigh?
16. The new 10s are designated 10cr250. I think the 250 refers to the displacement in cc. I thought I'd read that on his website but couldn't see it after a very brief squizz.
17. Just repeat the mantra "the funk is in the gunk"
18. That must make you one happy Chrismuzz!
19. Grohl is getting on now, maybe he's outgrown the angry teen cliche?
20.
Then there was the lead singer who told me that one night he was in mid-song when a bloke walked up to the stage and asked him if he had change for the jukebox!
Ooff! That's some indictment
21.
ok before anyone else gets here first... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2wrqnZiugA
Watched that clip with the sound off while listening to Harrison Birtwhistle on iPlayer. Surreal!
22. I've heard it said that nobody notices the bass player unless he's on fire....
23. Live long and prosper!
24. I've changed my vote to reflect the quality of the late entry. There's some good orchestration and phrasing going on there, and gets the mood of the picture well, for me.
25. I can't speak for other folks sound systems or listening environments, but through a 5.1 home cinema (not super hifi by any means) the bass sounded like a thicker, less toppy Marcus Miller tone, certainly not thin, and cranked up nice and loud!
