1. That's my bum well and truly kicked! Thanks Douglas.
2. You're right, they are the most comfortable things to wear. I had 3 at one point!
3. I liked the play of the day, sometimes brought to notice things I'd missed on first listen. Still waiting for my back-reviews, when you feel up to it
4. I'm with you on this - it's the journey, not the destination. Like you, my ideas, especially for the drums, outstrip my ability to perform them by so far. One time I might get our drummer to play on one of them, that should be a quantum leap in performance quality!
5. Another thing I find about this challenge is that I tend to do it all very quickly (this month's was 1 session of about 3-4 hours, most of that trying to decide what to play on the drums, and how!), and not redoing any of the takes, and when I come to listen again some days or weeks later, it's almost as if I'm listening to work by someone else, which somehow makes it more interesting for me to listen to, as I can't remember much about the process, unlike recording demos with the band, where you get sick of the tune after all the overdubs and tweaking the mix. Is this just me or do others find this too? Apologies for the ridiculously long sentence above btw
6. The most difficult thing is definitely getting started. I find once you've got just any old thing down, the fleshing out process takes on a life of its own, that's why the picture is so useful, it gives that certain nudge.
7. Is it universal voltage input?
8. Which did you go for?
9. It's Mr. Alpha to you sonny! You're welcome. My bass has no scratchplate, so the routes are on display, so a super neat job was done, managed to not chip out any of the paint, he had t make his own templates too! I can't remember how much he charged, but I was happy to pay it, for the amount of work he must have put in.
10. Steve Kendall in East Hanney did a nice job re routing my Masters bass for emgs. He'd be ideal.
11. Sounds like someone lost an eye....
12. Don't beat yourself up about it! It's just a bit of fun and games (until someone loses an eye.... )
13.
Change your job.
That's easy for you to say! I actually love my job, and if I had any more distractions, I'd never get owt done. Who wouldn't love being hunched over a microscope all day, like today, for instance. Still haven't found my drumming skills yet though... maybe I need x20 eyepieces! By the way Dad, good job this month, my favourite of all your efforts to date. I've got 2 of my 3 sorted.
14. Shame I can't get SoundCloud at work
15.
... and more bolero than tango, but who's dancing, anyway..? Yes, the very lightly-brushed drums do add; well done.
Yes, a lot of boleros! I played it to a mate, and he said it sounded like when you have 2 different youtube sessions playing at the same time
16. If you could prise one end of the handle off, heat shrink tubing would do the job.
17. Agreed, super honest commentary.
18.
Due to rain today and a few moments spare I had a brief fiddle.... https://soundcloud.com/leonard-smalls/the-big-bossa
That's nice and odd. Brings to mind 8-bit video game music.
19. That looks like a handy all-round piece of kit. Great score for £45!
20. Is there a reason the pickup can't be re wound? Should be possible as long as they aren't epoxy potted.
21. You asked for it: ideas, 7, ability, nil, what a thrashing! Here you go: https://soundcloud.com/julian-moss-511168525/tango-triste BOOM!! Early for once!
22. I've just knocked something together. The question now is whether to try and put drums on it and make it worse. I suspect Len Goodman would dislocate his hip trying to dance to it, what with the alternating bars of 9 and 7, and the random odd 8 thrown in there. Despite that, I think it sounds quite romantic. So: to drum or not to drum....?
23. JC aren't amps usually associated with drive!
24. The pink one would look nice being played by Lady Penelope. Good match for the Rolls.
