  1. Holy snit, he should come to one of our gigs, usually one, sometimes two broken strings on my guitarists telecaster. He doesn't even play lead, no massive bends or anything, he's just a heavy handed rhythm player! I bought Graphtech saddles for him years ago, made not a jot of difference.
  2. If you can find one, a Trace Acoustic cube is nice sounding for acoustic. It has reverb and a notch filter, and can be mounted on a Mic stand for use as a personal monitor at head height. They are quite rare though!
  3. A possible downside could be that the unused machines may rattle. Not the pegs themselves as they can usually be adjusted to take up any slack, but the posts. I've seen this on cheaper 12 strings, of course this may be a non-issue with the Ovation.
  4. re: fan noise; I'm sure you could put a thermal switch in series with the fan for turning it off at low volume/temperature.
  5. ..... is the correct answer!!
  6. That looks yummy!
  7. do keep up Dad!
  8. If it's Japanese made, the threads will probably be metric. Might be able to help out with longer M3 screws.
  9. Didn't get round to it this month, but I am sure my title "Leave it Gary, 'e ain't worth it" would have been right up there....
  10. Probably early Pink Floyd, my sister had Relics, and the first pre-recorded cassette I bought was A Nice Pair, which was Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucer Full of Secrets all jumbled up to make both sides almost exactly the same length. Huge influence on me at 13 or so.
  11. That was a ton of fun! I don't know why I don't listen to the Cardiacs more often.
  12. I played a bit of bass through my Wharfedale Titan 8 when I first got them - not really usable for bass at any volume, I'm afraid. Active ones may be better if they've got fancy dsp going on, but not the passives. Hope that helps.
  13. Just listened to the Wargs music (they are advertising for a bass player on here), and there's more than a touch of the Breeders about them too.
  14. I Really like this band, would be right up my street (if my street was in north London)
  15. Are the pickups some kind of split coil humbuckers? It would still be odd if both had failed in the same manner though.
  16. I like the shape, is it a slightly stretched jaguar?
  17. This set out their stall perfectly:
  18. Such a rich seam of great female fronted bands, Echobelly, Elastica, Curve, and loads I've temporarily forgotten the names of.
  19. Good News! Well done that man!
  20. Looks like the same axe too. Probably had six new handles and four heads, mind!
  21. Just catching up with this build. The top has a nice portrait of a spaniel behind the bridge. Nice work!
  22. Dave, aren't you in enough bands already?
  23. All cables will store charge if the inner conductor is properly insulated from the outer braid. It is exactly how (non-electrolytic) capacitors work.
  24. I'm out of the loop here, in what way has Ahmet transgressed?
