  1. I wish I had a limber body
  2. Would this be for practicing on your own (along with mp3s) or with others? The criteria are quite different.
  3. I've just scored a SpectraComp from these very pages and looking forward to trying out all the editing options and all, but even as it is, I can see it could be a really useful tool. Even going through a tiny non-bass amp , it adds a chunkiness to the sound I can see will be appealing in a band setting. Just have to wait for my guitarist's hand to heal before I can try it out in that context.
  4. Bought a TC Spectracomp from Andy, great comms, well packaged and timely delivery. Buy with confidence! Jules
  5. I was hoping for a blue and white marbled finish that looked like a massive chunk of blue cheese! What you've done looks nice too though
  6. Discreet must feel So Lonely....
  7. Apparently, Wembley Loudspeakers offer a service where they put the magic smoke back in to loudspeakers!
  8. Yeah, women do that to me all the time!
  9. I've played through one of the cheaper TC cabs live and found it incredibly lacking in treble. It did have a nice meaty sound though.
  10. Certainly ,the BF Compact (G1 & 2) don't have the top end sizzle required at all. I'm not sure what frequency the treble control on a Shuttle acts at, but with the Compact, it made barely any audible difference. I made my own box with a tweeter in it to sit on top of the Shuttle when I felt I needed that sort of sound.
  11. Your cat looks like he quite liked that. In that nonchalant way that cats do best! Nice playing, btw.
  12. Oh yes, I can see that for you, but it's just one more step on a CNC router for the mass produced stuff. They're doing the same sort of cuts for the cavity panels anyhow...
  13. I always thought it would be a nice touch to recess the neck plate so it doesn't catch on things. Same with side mounted jack socket plates, but hardly anyone does that.
  14. I found this recently, I didn't know the guy was filming it. His name was Pier Corona, a well known face on the Oxford music scene, who sadly passed away a couple of months ago at too young an age. This is a performance of one of our older songs (it's about the poll tax riots ffs!), and features guest flautist Phil Freizinger. It's quite long and a bit of a workout for me, and incorporates a bit of the Freedom Chant, by Ritchie Havens. So, here is Freedom and Justice:
  15. Break out the glitter, Mornats!
  16. Maybe Lurks didn't mean you singing? Just sayin'
  17. Thanks for taking the time Lurkio!
  18. Bass chords!!!!
  19. You might be able to do something about the recording with a compressor. If you use a slow attack, you might just get the sound you want without re tracking it.
  20. Here's my entry, I was hoping to do something new this month, but the band has been stopped dead for the month (at least) My guitarist has broken 2 fingers on his left hand, so this is something from earlier. It's another Robyn Hitchcock cover, Driving Aloud (Radio Storm). This is one of those recordings where something occurred that would be difficult to repeat. The quiet sitar-like drone was caused by the guitarist's cuff button catching the strings, didn't notice it until mixdown I'm quite pleased with my maracas playing, the backing vocals, not so much. What do you folks think of the recording, (rather than the performance)? Cheers MBA Driving Aloud (Radio Storm).mp3
  21. More of a solo singer songwriter name, I'd have thought...
