1. Fantastic.
2. Bloody hell !! Your timing's terrible I'm stuck in "no basses for the rest of my life" mode. Always fancied the DX model ever since machine's review on here. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/9244-vintage-v1004dx/ Sold my spalted maple 4 string last year and it's 5 string cousin went in May. Cracking basses, Vintage set their sights high when they released these. GLWS
3. I first heard about these start of May then they were pre-order but promptly got dropped from Thomann's product list. Thinking it was just a supply problem I emailed Thomann and asked them for news when they sorted out whatever problem they had. Start of last month I got word so ordered one. 2 days later they were sold out Few days later my £85 DI pedal arrived. Nice sturdy little box about the same size as my Eden WTDI. Reading L-R you got Blend,Bass,2 knobs for sweepable Mids,Treble. 2nd row is Volume,2 knobs for Compressor and a Gain. XLR,Headphones and 1/4" Amp out, 3.5mm Line-In,Input and Thru. It runs on 9v battery,DC power or phantom power. Ground/Lift and a 0dB/-10dB input switch. Great wee thing for practise with the line-in volume set at source. Been playing around with it for last couple of weeks and must say I'm pleased with it. Just a good wee DI that does its job.Don't really know what else I can say,the differences are noticable soon as you start turning knobs. £85 may seem a lot for something with the Harley Benton logo but I reckon with another name and middle man costs it would hit £160 easy. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_bass_di_expander.htm
4.
For those of us not in the know, what is a Wal JG bass and how do they differ from a "normal" Wal?
Wished I could tell you more but I never played another Wal apart from JG,it's been gone near 30 year. Very chaotic time in my life and I didn't manage to hold on to it long, a leather scratchplate I remember and the pickups had coil tap/phase switches. I do remember it was £500 2nd hand from Monkey Business in Romford
5. Hoped for a moment it was mine,re-appearing after near 30 year in the wilderness. Hopes dashed for the umpteen time this week
6. Looks like it's D.O.A then the Real Mckenzies followed by Subhumans. The Dickies are a possible too. All August/September. Alice Cooper is a goer for November.
7. Haven't played one as chances are I'd buy it.
8. Recently joined the double P pickup people with the Peavey TL-6. Still no idea what I'm doing owning a 6 string but hey-ho nothing new there
9. I've been avoiding Glasgow ever since CC Music got this in. 2 Entwistle Neo P bass pickups and a P bass wide neck I just know my pocket would be £206 lighter
10. I think the laddie did great. His mate with the CNC didn't do the scratchplate so he used a scroll saw (£100), the lad said he could have used a coping saw but that takes ages. The Dremel did most of the work and they're about £60. His finished product looked and sounded good so it'll be interesting to see it when active. Will he go for Ming's/Belcat, Artec or shove the boat out on a $40 Tone Monster
11. Congratulations. That's an stunner
12. Hiya G Ain't you lucky having a decent shop in town, that's if you live in Ayr Again if you live in Ayr there's a project starting for live music in the town centre, good time to be playing bass.
13. Mr Krow I'd still suggest you try them as it may be the very thing for you. You could always stick a Rickenb*stard TR cover on it
14. JH is the whole reason I'd avoid a Rick. I don't want him getting any of my cash and I don't want to advertise his products by playing them. Over the years I heard complaints about poor finishes blamed on the owners, using non Rick issue string as a reason to void your warranty. Ditto not using a Rick approved tech for adjusting the TR. Said warranty started the second it rolled off the line. Owners who suggested improvements were subject to personal attacks of the Rick forum too. I have no problem with him going after blatant fakes but strong arm tactics were used against companies he "alleged" were infringing his IP. Some of these firms would have won quite easily if they'd had the lawyers fees. Could be the best bass in the world but it's a matter of principle with me. Mr Krow. If you do get one I hope you enjoy playing it as your reasons will be every bit as valid as mine.
15. Bought tickets for Glasgow show last Friday so hearing this news today is an extra bonus :-)
16. I wonder how long prices will go up. There's only a small number of folks interested in Peaveys. Posted a poll for Peavey owner age groups and the vast majority were 35+,many of them were buying Peaveys to replace ones they'd sold 20 year back. There were no owners under 18 so once the over 35's are sated where will the continuing interest come from ?
17. Dave Konig sent me a Retrovibe beanie hat. Was crushed I asked if that was me an endorsing artist and he replied " No !! You're a baldie "
18. And I got the TI's from Dave's recent clear out Hassle-free purchase from start to finish. Look forward to the next time.
19. Decent price. Bursts always get a good price, the case fake fur being intact helps too.
20. I put a Warman Jazz blade humbucker in the bridge position on my Zephyr 5 and it was a belter of a pickup. Their jazz might not be your taste though. http://www.warmanguitars.co.uk/product/j-bass-4-string-bass-guitar-pickup/ Entwistle pickups are another top notch cheap replacement. I've linked to the JBX instead of the JBXN. I've 2 Zodiac DE Scorpios but 1 has an Entwistle Neo PJ set in place of the Duncan Basslines, the Neos have much louder output than the Duncans so not really the vintage tone you seek. http://www.entwistlepickups.com/pickup.php?puid=JBX
21. Cheers for confirming that Chris.
22. Saw it. Hard to say what the "Plus" stands for. Axcelerator 5 like mine has similar spec but 35" scale and Wilkinson 3D bridge. Guess the "Plus" must stand for the slightly high mass bridge. Not too common here, bar myself I only know one other Axcelerator owner. Is it worth £375 ? That's hard to say as I'm sure you've noticed by now there's not many folk clamoring to buy Peaveys. They don't appear often so if you're collecting it's worth buying,if not then remind yourself it's over half the price of a Cirrus. You far from Newton Abbot ? The Zodiac DE on eBay is a good bass and the £180 is a good price. Only concern is I don't see the "Basslines" logo on the pickups, might have worn off but I'd be asking the seller to confirm.
23.
£120 for the Peavey Zeyphr in "new" condition
Congratulations. Good price that
24. I had one of these too Great bass, does the P-bass thing well. Mine got strung BEAD and currently provides the bottom end to the tunes a young shredder records.
