1. 2nd time buying from Mike. Top fella. Peavey Dynabass 5'er has joined the clan. No messing about with Mike, deal gets struck an that's that The Man's a credit to BC.
2. @Al Krouw Not much chance of trying one here yet. B&M the UK distributor can't give any details and Sweetwater over in the US wont ship them to the UK. Another seller in the US told me they wouldn't ship as they have rosewood boards. I took this up with Peavey themselves asking " What the bloody hell you doing releasing a bass with restricted materials ?" and " What idiot approved the idea, has he since started work with your competitors ?" Peavey replied saying all Cirrus came with CITES paperwork but gave no answers to my other questions. Sweetwater started taking pre-orders end of Feb this year but as yet I've only found 2 reviews. Oh there's plenty of opinions but most of them are confused with the earlier BXP Cirrus, and most of them are further confused and concern the later 34" scale mega cheapie BXP. Here lies a big problem. The only place so far to buy the re-issue is in the US,getting honest reviews from Americans on products outsourced to the Far East is neigh on impossible. This Scotsman would be hard pressed to admit Indian Whisky was Whisky, but I would drink it Anyway the only honest IMO opinion I heard from Tony in St Louis (TB'er Dr Cheese). He reckoned the re-issue nailed the Cirrus tone (very mid intense) and felt the build was nearly as good as the discontinued US models. The "Power Plate" throws a few folk but it's only a sales point, the patent on the old "FatHead" plate expired years back so this is Peavey's take on it. The Cirrus is a reasonably lightweight bass,2 of mine will around 8-8.5lb. Have Gotoh tuners and ABM bridges,3 band EQ and are 35" scale. As to how they compare to other basses is a toughie, they were top of the line for Peavey and I've never owned anybodyelse's top of the line bass
3. Aye. Swapped the cable and tried all 4 channels. Got same result, the bloody thing don't work. Oh well now starts another round of email sending
4. The Harley Benton Bass Expander says it works off phantom power and I thought it did till it stopped working Opening up the box I found a 9v connected so I swapped mixer incase the mixer wasn't kicking out enough juice. The Alesis has 4 XLR so should easily power a 9v pedal. But it didn't Returned the unit to Thomann and yesterday I got the exact pedal back (matching serial numbers) with a 9v fitted again. I'm getting the same results. When connected to mixer with no battery the lights are dim and zero volume. It works great using dc or the battery. Thinking it may need a battery in place to complete a circuit I stuck a dead 9v in but that didn't work,no lights or sound. Anybody came across phantom power that needs a battery to work ? I'm giving the pedal the benefit of the doubt as the original mixer was a wee Behringer and may not have been up to scratch. What's your thoughts folks, faulty mixer or faulty pedal ?
5. PM getting sent :-)
6. I bought the Kinsman stand last year which has extendable legs and neck rest.No problem for my DB even fully extended. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003BNHJFW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
7. Following on from my post 3 year back I did put Entwistle Neo's in the Zodiac DE. Bloody hell they are loud Easily twice as loud as my other Zodiac with it's stock Duncan Basslines.
8.
Haha, no rush Davie. Cheers matey.
Shamed myself into action Lewis. Template transfered to MDF, just warming up the saw now. Will be posted tomorrow. edit No longer shamed :-) Cut,shaped and sanded .
9. The PB-50 with Super-Ferrite/TI jazz flatscombo definitely is a winner Mind you the fact my PB-50's all had great necks, working tuners and decent bridges helped.
10.
How many have you got??
I briefly had 3. 1 was a "deko" bought for parts, quick fix later and it went to a pal's lad. Sold my 1st one, with the lovely roasted maple type grain on thefretboard, last month to a BC'er. Just my trusty Peavey SF powered PB-50 left
11. Looking and sounding great. Makes me want another one
12. Don't know about the factory fretless but the serial number says 1994. Have one myself. If it sells for £200 I'll be upping the house insurance
13. Those are stunners alright The house here is overrun by Peaveys so I doubt there'll be more basses. Dave-K can be very persuasive so the Super-P is going nowhere.
14.
they look like they make some nice bass's like this one but would prefer the squared head not the P bass type. great value, do they play well. http://chownybass.co...chowny-vantage/
Never played one since Chowny took over production but I had 5 of the original Retrovibe basses and they were great basses. Really wish I hadn't sold the Evo
15.
Couldn't find the gold paint! It was your kindly-donated template I used for the headstock, thanks.
Was happy to help That reminds me I promised LewisK one. Better get the saw out this weekend
16. Looking good. Still preferred the gold scratchplate though
17. 1400 euros is big money for a first bass. Of course the Sandberg is a great bass and will serve you well for many years. If you decide bass is the instrument you want to play ! I'd suggest returning it and spend the next few weeks trying many different basses. You have a very good budget so the one you choose will not depend on money but what feels right. Don't get catch up with brands and prices there's great basses out there at all prices. Like PaulGibsonBass I've basses costing £1-2K but I spend most of my time playing a £90 Harley Benton .
18. RetractionTime Got bum info from US eBay seller. Mike Brown at Peavey CS just sent me an email saying yes they're rosewood but the CITES paperwork is included with each bass. Indonesia asked for an abstention until July this year if I mind right. Off to Retract moans elsewhere now
19. Something is seriously wrong in Meridian. The ELF saga is bad but the Cirrus tale is worse January 2016 they annouce the Cirrus re-issue,I contact B&M but they can't tell me anything. Sweetwater start taking pre-orders in Feb 2017. Again B&M have no info so I contact SW,they can't ship to the UK.Dealer protection rules. There's been a few on American eBay and last week I contact a seller. This is where it gets bloody stupid. I ask about the fretboard,SW have it as Pau Ferro. The seller has copy/paste the blurb from the Peavey website which states a rosewood fretboard. In fact the specs for every model say a rosewood board and no paperwork regarding CITES. Yes folks 1 month after the ruling on rosewood Peavey goes ahead with rosewood board basses. To cement the stupidity there's a bubinga/rosewood combo too.
20. 7lb !!! Can see why it's named after light infantry. Congrats Mick
21. Last few days it's been Celtic Punk Radio. Strangely it's via the internet from Germany.
22. Must have owned 12 maybe 15 HBs,never needed to do any work on them. The dirt cheap PB-20 stood head and shoulders above the Squier Affinity p bass I had. Must say its good to see a PJ with a P bass neck for a change.
23. 930 mile round kinda hampers me going for this Any chance you could PM me the box size and weight so I can get courier quotes ?
24. Fantastic price. Sold my Stingray combo to a rehearsal room fella last year, great bit of kit. If I didn't already have one as a spare I'd be having this. GLWS
