1. It's called "Dave's World of Fun Stuff" for a reason, the YT videos and guitar set ups are something he does in his spare time. He works as a movie and TV special effects man.
2. Dave's Rickenbacker story here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4ODN1c_6ik
3. Dave's own Rickenbacker went in the skip on the last night of a tour . I wouldn't say he was grumpy just has very bad memories.
4. I bought a set of Fender VI strings and just used 4 of them. £10.99 on eBay
5. Entwistle PBXN arrived from Graeme . Dead easy transaction. Top fella and a credit to BC. Cheers KB
6. I've been at this a long time and doubt I've ever sounded like the record
7. Good to hear Paul. These affordable basses can be brilliant if folks just look beyond the name. Aye there's folk who get them with problems but the same can be said for any brand. Sold one of my Harley Benton PB-50's this week and I know I'll miss it
8. Saw James wanted a Harley Benton PB-50. He paid straight away, even though I'd said it would take a couple of days to organise packing Great fella and I hope he enjoys the PB-50.
9. Was trouble free for months but that's it started again
10. That's just lovely Rob. Congratulations. Regarding the fretted 4. Tell the good lady, she'll have at least 20 months to calm down
11. PM sent regarding mudbucker and Peavey neck. Had to pass on both. Too many basses already
12. Proof that Fender did try something new
13. Harley Benton Bass Expander. £90 delivered from Thomann. Runs on battery, phantom power or DC. Had mine about a month, great wee thing. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_bass_di_expander.htm
14.
Further to my USA Squire Jag story, I then found one in Germany on eBay which was sent with no problems.
There's "no borders" within the EU so technically there was no import/export going on.
15.
"No basses for the rest of your life".... that's a bit harsh!!
Harsh but true My passion for Peaveys lead to owning at least one example of every model I'm going to post a link on the Vintage FB page.
16. As it happens I've the Dr J too, sadly don't think it runs on phantom power. The Hartke Bass Attack does, should get one for £40 second hand.
17. Nearly half as much again at £90 delivered but the Harley Benton Bass Expander does all you seek. I posted about it couple of weeks back.
18.
So much so that both Google and Amazon have already changed the way they operate as a result?
OK. You think they're being above board. I don't so here we part ways.
19. Nice link TimR only the "loophole" is so good it gets mentioned twice. HMRC can't do a thing unless ‘arrangements cannot reasonably be regarded as a reasonable course of action’. Fine point of law best argued by well paid lawyers which corperations have aplenty. The "The ‘double reasonableness’ test" is an expensive thing for HMRC to prove.
20. anzoid I remember the Tune Maniacs first, the extended fingerboard fretless I had GAS for was £899. That was around 84/85.Well beyond my pocket so nearest I got was the Washburn ABT B-20, £299 in 88. I knew it wasn't the same but the colour was right Late 80's was first I heard of the SGC Nanyo, the Bass Centre started selling them. It seemed there was plenty competition for Tune. Washburn,Bass Collection,Kawai all had fretless models similar to the standard fretless Maniac P/J. Shameless excuse to show off the fretless Tune :-)
21. Spot on Chris. Bonus points for the gratuitous Peavey shots
22. Risky business !! The Tune Bass Maniac review dogged me for 30 odd year before I finally managed to track one down Tell you what,it was worth it
23. I've a pal lives in Totana,Murcia so I'll ask him what it's like.
24. Way to go Chris. I'm impressed by just the thought of that
