1. Made a list of mine last night. In 36 year I've managed to own 99 basses When I hit 100 I'll post the list but careful thinking is needed,be a shame if the century bass was a £20 beater

It's Peavey time again but for a change it's acoustic Peavey time First off I know absolutely nothing about this bass. There's a purple Peavey Aberdeen somewhere in the UK,it was owned by Ken Achard when he was MD for Peavey UK. As Ken's was the only 1 I was aware of I thought the Aberdeens were a range of acoustic guitars and they'd built a bass version just for Ken. Not so !! I now know of 3 others (including this one) I'm guessing it has a mahogany neck, back and sides with a spruce top.and I'm thinking a Far Eastern origin. The preamp is an Artec ASE-4 with a Peavey logo and kinda nice wooden veneer. It's a 34" scale and the nut width is 42mm. Just picked up a set of La Bella tapes for it as I'm not too keen on the rounds.
3. Last bass on the bucket list is a Vigier. This thread is not helping GAS,it's definitely not indigestion I'm feeling just now
4. 8 hours after my complaint about only1 tuner, they reply saying "very sorry, there's one on the way " Currently opening can of alphabetti spaghetti so I can eat my words about the £2 refund
5. Thought my 2 arrived last month. Opened up the envelope last night but there was only one in there Expect Reverb will just offer me the £2 refund
6. Some fella called Hadrien Feraud is playing one of his other models in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swp6unWYLag Background noise is terrible. Bit more about the man on the Russian guitar player forum. https://forum.guitarplayer.ru/index.php?topic=223276.0 If you use Chrome right click and choose "translate to English". Must be loads of fellas working in East Europe we never hear of,still kicking myself for passing on the Polish Langowski earlier this year.
7. Hey folks. Is there anybody near Bodmin ? Bass on Gumtree and while I'm waiting on word from seller regarding courier I'd like to have other options. Would involve collecting and couriers. TIA
8. Take a walk up Nicholson Street, Scayles and it's sister shop Live Music are up there. Head down towards Leith and there's Rikki's on the left hand side. Duncanson & Edwards is the big pawn shop on Queens Street. http://www.duncansonedwards.co.uk/ http://www.scayles.co.uk/ http://livemusicshop.co.uk/
9. I've still got mine. Sunburst with blades, natural with toasters, natural with toasters converted to 5 string and natural with toasters and active EQ.
10. I always measure mine, open string at the 17th fret.
11. I've had some quite low actions on basses. The Harley Benton PB-50 that I choose to play 90% of the time is set to 1.5mm on G,1.75mm on E. Plays wonderful with the TI flats. The 1.75-1.5mm is the norm for me but generally the bass dictates how low the action goes. Lowest I've had was 1.25mm on G and 1.5mm on E. That was on a Cirrus and as a reaction to a Hipshot endorser complaining the ABM bridge didn't go lower than 2mm. Fella had the same trouble when Hipshot sent him a replacement bridge bridge, just to spite him I set the Cirrus with a Hipshot down to 1.5mm & 1.25mm aswell Highest I've heard of was 4 & 6mm. That was on a Vigier up for sale. Asked ped if anything could be done and wisely followed his advice to walk away.
12. Lovely basses. Had the spalted maple version in 4 & 5 strings. £195 was a steal alright :-)
13.
You need big hair and spandex to get the best out of that model
There's a law in Scotland forbids me from wearing spandex. I take that law seriously
14. Don't know about "flamed bubinga" but bloody hell John that's pretty :-)
15. There was a Chinese version of the Aria Silent bass that I knew was a mistake straight away so doesn't really count. Oddly for it's 2 Peaveys I had 2 Millennium BXPs and they were lovely basses. Looked grand, set up like a dream and sounded great. Kept reading about how amazing the US versions were and how there should be a law against the BXPs Bought one, cost me twice what the 2 BXP's did. I got a graphite gray bass with an extra inch scale length and a sweepable mids knob I never use Nice well built bass but I believed the hype and buyers remorse kicked in. Bought another !! Same result but it's got a Violet quilt top so looks pretty Peavey Sarzo Love the way it plays and feels. Buggered if I can get a tone I like
16. Set my heart on owning this fretless back in 1984 . Took me until 2016 to actually find one In Japan. Never mind it was worth it Extended fingerboard Tune Bass Maniac, piezo only and 2 band EQ
17. My pal replied. He played 2 x 50 mins sets 12 days after the op. Says it knocked his recovery back a few weeks.
18. Mate got this done 23rd of last month so I've sent him a message asking what he thinks.
19.
Yeah, been noticing that one. Not buying though - I think someone else ought to have a chance at one occasionally
Trust me, I came close
20. Such is my passion for Peavey I'm always looking but know I have to stop buying This fine looking Zephyr 5 popped up at the weekend and it's nicely priced too. Seller says he's open to offers so the deal could be sweeter Prices on Grinds & Zephyrs have been doing well this year, could be a good time to buy. http://www.ebay.co.u...4%257Ciid%253A1 34" scale thru neck. 2 passive pickups, Hi mass bridge. 44mm at the nut and 17mm string spacing. If it weighs the same as mine expect 9.5lb. Got an Aurora Reds 5 string set on the one here and the B rings loud and clear.
21.
I think these days she puts on the Scottish accent. It doesn't sound very authentic.
Aye, and she's not alone. These days the Big Yin sounds like he comes from Milngavie Years back Lulu sang in my old local, folks still say those were great nights.
22. Missed the "Why" part I don't really think about "why". Only had the plexi 5'er cause I thought it looked cool but with the T-40's ? They weigh what they weigh. At work a 14lb hammer weighs 14lb,quickest easiet way to drive panels or knock a wall down. Same goes for basses,if the one I want to use weighs 12lb then I'll use it.
23. Plexi Jazz 5'er beat all my T-40's in regards to weight, easy 13lb.
24. Never tried tapes on a jazz but I've meant to do it many a time. Been a long time fan of tapes, ever since I bought a set of Roto Tru Bass for £5. This was back in the early 80's and the very skint punk rocker that was me suddenly had cash for drink Funny how those moments stick. I no longer use Tru Bass,it's La Bella or Status Hotwires ( I still have a stash of them )
