If I am honest, it was Sid Vicious, covered in blood, bare chested wielding a battered Precision, he just looked seriously cool and my parents hated him....the innocence of youth and all that!

Where have all the Carlsboro amps gone? They never seemed to go wrong so they must still be around, they sounded OK and were not overly heavy, Westone Thunder 1/1a through a Carlsboro amp seems to be a bit of a classic starter package of the 80's

Take a day trip to Norwich if you want to be certain, Norwich is lovely (ish) I went down to Eastbourne to collect a bass last year, brought the good lady wife fish and chips on the seafront after collecting the bass, make a day of it?

Aston University circa 1986 supporting a band called Stress who were no 12 in the charts that week Westone Thunder 3 fretless bass (with an alloy necked Kramer as back up borrowed from the band's guitarist) Carlsboro Cobra 90 head 2 x 1x12 unnamed bass cabs ( actually from memory 1 was a guitar cab of some sorts)

Anyone bought a bass from Cash Converters website?

I brought a lovely Tokai 335 in a battered but functional hard case for £200.00 the guitar was mint the case was fine, it was delivered pretty well wrapped, no complaints from me, I sold the guitar on a week later for £325.00 -
I actually invented a new style, Happy Jack, this may suit you! It's called banging Bungalow it's like Hard House for those too old to want to worry about stairs

Our front man said what he wrote was for a Precision bass sound so I used a Precision for a bit, then I used my Precision Lyte, he liked the sound of that more! So I used the Jazz for a couple of gigs, he really liked that so I swapped to a CMI Rick, he loved the look of that one but we agreed the sound probably didn't work...now I use the USA Stingray Sub for gigs! He has been persuaded from writing songs with any particular bass sound in mind I shall probably stick with the Ray now he has stopped imagining he was writing with some mythical bass sound in mind!

Which one is the bass that will end your GAS
Roger2611 replied to fiatcoupe432's topic in General Discussion
My USA Sub bass seems to have cured my GAS for Musicman basses, but as others have correctly noted, it will only be a temporary cessation of the dreaded GAS.....now where's that 5 string USA Sub I so definitely need -

I have spent loads in PMT Northampton, they have always looked after me really well, if there is one downside to PMT it is the lack of used gear

Number #3 in the series...why buy a roadworn bass??
Roger2611 replied to BaggyMan's topic in General Discussion
How far away is your nearest GuitarGuitar? Many of these kinds of questions can be answered by simply going to a shop & playing one.
I have to agree, I only ended up with mine because I wanted a Sunburst Precision with a maple board and a guy I knew locally was selling a Roadworn, it is probably the best Precision I have ever played, I still feel the reliced look is cheating but purely as a bass guitar it is a fantastic bit of kit -
What bass do you regret selling? Was it love?
Roger2611 replied to vinorange's topic in General Discussion
I really regret selling my Bass Collection SB801 as it appears to have been the only one in existence, my SB601 Fretless because it was the best fretless bass I could ever want and my first Fender Precision because I didn't know what it was and got offered very silly money £1400 (considering I paid £300 for it) by a local dealer who promptly sold it to someone who was looking for my exact bass, some years later it was divulged it was a 1963 body, electrics and case mated to a mid 70's maple neck....which still at the time suggests £1400 was still decent money for what was a bitsa bass! -

If I am honest, I don't really understand flats, if a sound is too bright you back the treble or tone off a little? If the sound is too dull and the tone or treble is up full then you put a nice new set of Elites on? Flat's seem to exist to give you that played in string feel? I understand the use of flats on a fretless to protect the fretboard but personally I don't like the feel of them on my fingers, they are so smooth it feels like I will get "rope burn" if I slide my finger too fast, which on a fretless seems to defeat the object of a fretless? Sorry, lots of question marks in the above but I really don't understand flats!
Manchester Guitar Tech do a nice range of coloured nitro and are not too expensive. They can also mix custom colours if you want. If you use a spray you will need good ventilation, whether poly or nitro. The advantage to nitro is that each coat will merge into the previous. Poly will form distinct coats, which will be visible if you sand through. Basically nitro is a bit more forgiving.
Totally agree, I have ordered loads of paint from them I have never had a bad can and the results I have achieved have way exceeded my expectations, I find Nitro much more forgiving than the current Halfords car paints

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/shampoo-polish-wax/autoglym-intensive-tar-remover-325ml I have always used this to remove glue residue on my poly finished guitars, I have never used it on a Nitrocellulose finish, if you were going to do that I would recommend trying it on a tiny unnoticeable area first

Dunc, I can highly recommend the Squier Mike Dirnt basses, you can pick them up for less than £200.00 in decent condition, they are nice and light, mine plays fantastic, I have replaced the electric with a Seymour Duncan and CTS pots and I have refinished twice so far, once in Shell Pink and now in a TV Yellow colour similar to the Telecaster colour. It was a cheap bass so I don't mind modding it and I actually gig it more than any of the other Precisions because it is light and great to play, if you are ever down my neck of the woods you are welcome to come and try mine and I guarantee you will be seriously impressed!

Fatboy stuff is fantastic, I have a pickguard and knobs on my Strat it looks absolutely gorgeous
