As a previous contributor said, the Bass Collection jack socket, I can use an angled jack plug with every other bass but, oh no, not the Bass Collection. Bridge saddle screws of the standard Fender basses, the end of the thread sticks in your palm or the useless thing gradually works its way down whilst playing, cocking up the action

Are you sure Pino played bass on this track, I used to work doing sound for a touring band playing all the big night clubs around the UK back in the 80's, all of the band members were session players of good standing, we played in Wales one weekend and I was introduced to a guy called Chris, bassist for Go West, who knew the guitarist in the band, I was chatting to him about Pino (No Parlez was the hit album of the time) and he said he used to share a flat with Pino and they had both taken up fretless at the same sort of time but Pino just blew him away? I have nothing to substantiate the above but it could explain why the song would have that Pino type sound and style?

Vintage Guitar - 5 basses that shook the world
Roger2611 replied to casapete's topic in General Discussion
Basses that shook the world? I'm biased. . . IMO the first 2 on the list are 51 and 58 P basses, the third is the Jazz, the fourth is the first 5 string bass and the rest come next.
I would tend to agree, maybe the fifth would be the first fretless in the standard electric bass format? -
RIP Rick, I was lucky enough to see them at Knebworth in 1990,a cracking band I can't say RIP to 2016, may you rot in our memories, horrible year

Someone has clearly pinched the back half of it

What is it with Ibanez second hand values??
Roger2611 replied to BaggyMan's topic in General Discussion
Is it their prominent association with the metal genre, I have a catalogue somewhere which lists the endorsee's most play in bands with Hell and Death in the title, I am sure there was one guy called Beelzebub Death Bringer who played bass for the Hell Death Monkeys Seriously though, I love the look of their basses but they never seem to wow me when I play them -
I can't say I am taken with flats on my fretless basses but as others have said damage to the board can be an issue, I have a maple necked precision copy I think I may just put some rounds on it and see how it goes, when I used to gig all the time with my old Bass Collection SB602 I ended up having the board replaced with Ebony, not cheap even back then but made a huge difference to wear....so why did I bloody sell it and where is it today?

Not my cup of tea musically but the bass work is fantastic, I love those bubbly bass lines and the players never looks like they are working hard to play them!
Found myself looking at Rics again when they blatantly don't work for me (Owned about 6 now and all sold on)
A simple answer that has cured me of any Ric desire, I have long since hankered after one but couldn't justify the price for a bass I was unsure about so I picked up an old CMI copy, it's fantastic it has a big bow at the top of the neck, no matter what I do I can't get the electrics to work properly, it is dead uncomfortable to play when standing up, I am told by many it is a dead accurate copy of many older Ric's...basically it hangs on the wall looking nice but serving as a £400.00 reminder that I don't need a Ric
One of the most overrated bands of all time IMO. Two or three good tunes, but Joe Strummer can't sing to save himself. Tuneless caterwauling.
I would agree, not the greatest singer maybe but some earth changing lyrics for me at that age and a massive amount of passion in the songs he "caterwauled" -
There is a real flip side to this argument, some of the smaller "proper" music venues can have horrible acoustics, we supported a 80's top selling act recently in one such venue, fortunately I knew a guy who had played there regularly and his only advise was "use the in house sound man" we did and had a fantastic sound both on and off stage...the main band turned up and announced they had their own sound engineer who was quite capable of managing such a limited PA...they had one of the worst sounds I have heard in a long time! We are playing the same venue this Saturday and will be working with the house engineer again, it will be interesting to see if the main band turns up with their own engineer as they are a lesser known act from the eighties but have a good reputation as a live band

Lefty Bass Collection SB320 at £98.00!!!!

Sweet, baby short scale Bass Collection's...count me in! -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Collection-SB320-Left-handed-bass-guitar-/291965125935?hash=item43fa7a452f:g:AtwAAOSwo4pYR-Zi Surely this should find a Basschat owner? At less than a hundred quid at the moment I am tempted to do a Ronnie O'sullivan and learn to play left handed as well! No connection to advert or seller by the way

Ebay drives me potty at times, OK they don't email me, (not sure why you are getting emails about stuff you only looked at but I do get emails about any watched items ending soon or having ended etc.) what really drives me potty is the way it shows the last items looked at irrespective of who is signed in or out, for 2 years now I have had to buy my wife's pressies elsewhere as if it was the last thing looked at it would still show up on her profile or even on the unlogged in page.....probably something to do with IP addresses but a total pain in the butt and something Ebay seemed unable to understand why it could be an issue!

Bass player, backing vocals, creator of musical harmonies, anything technical, link between self appointed creative types (guitarist and keys) and drummer and general encourager whilst onstage......pretty indispensable really!

Lords of the New Church....knew I would think of one in the end (Stiv Bator of the Dead Boys and Brian James ex of the Damned)

The following 3 guitars have recently been stolen from near my London W9 home. 1961 Ivory Fender Precision Bass Modern Mexican Black Precision Bass with changed tortoise shell pick guard Blonde Guild D37 Acoustic with built in pick up. All were in soft cases. Please keep an eye out for them. A substantial reward will be paid for information leading to their recovery. Many thanks, Glen. Just spotted this on Facebook

I think it is extremely difficult to get it right without looking contrived, our lead singer insists on leaping off stage at every gig, I am tempted to bring a nail gun and nail the fecker to the stage but at least he is visual, in my old covers band I tried to get the guitarist so stop impersonating a tailors dummy and move around a bit, he staggered round like he had been shot, cocked up every song and was happily back to tailors dummy by the third song!

The old industry standard Yamaha SPX90 has a wonderful Harmoniser effect that sounds more Pino than Pino.....I love it!

Help me identify this electric bass guitar....???
Roger2611 replied to elf's topic in General Discussion
I think Jedson would be another generic of this type of bass -
Hi guys, just thought I would post this up, sadly it doesn't look like we will ever release it as the songwriter has decided it doesn't represent us anymore but I just think it is a great tune?

Swap your pick guards amongst your other basses, you can pretend for a couple of days it is a new bass, short term fix I guess but every little helps!
