http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-jazz-bass-lite-/291911928096?hash=item43f74e8920:g:JuQAAOSw8w1YAju8 I must be missing something here but the seller seems adamant it is a Jazz bass despite the very clear image of the headstock! Irrespective of what it is I reckon it is a pretty good price for one of these now

Have you considered building one of your own? There are plenty of necks and bodies available on Evilbay without the need to spend large sums of money, I put one together recently for less than £200 with a Seymour Duncan pickup, decent hardware and electrics, it has no real value as a complete instrument meaning it is easy to justify having about as a practice / backup bass. Mine is actually a perfectly gigable bass after a little simple setting up

GUMTREE Bargain (bashed up) Aerodyne Jazz
You do. Everyone needs another bass...
He speaks the truth you know! -
I had the TA 40 (bolt on neck version) It was a perfectly good bass, not too heavy, well made, played fine and sounded decent, it was nothing special but it did exactly what you would expect a decent Aria bass to do. If you like the look of it I don't think you will be disappointed in how it plays or sounds, I have to say I have missed mine on occasions Looking at the price, I sold my lower spec one for a fair bit more than the seller is asking for this one

I fully expect that class D technology comes with a built in expiry date, probably based on hours used rather than dates otherwise certain models of amps would all fall over at the same kinda time....hang on didn't the Ampeg Portaflex do that pretty much from new?
Does that logo look strange to you? It has a weird shadow around it, like a waterslide transfer...
I had one in Candy Red, that also had a clear outline around the decal, it looks legit to me

I marked all my gear with smart water, when I have sold gear I have used the smart water as an asset telling the buyer to keep my details as if it is ever stolen and is subsequently recovered it would show my details and I will have some kind of record to show who I sold it to and when, buyers have not been put off in any way

Rod Temperton 2016 Claims Another Great

I didn't know much about him and certainly didn't know he had written so many huge songs, RIP Rod -
My mate gigs one of those, I had better tell him to wrap it in cotton wool from now on, seems a tad pricey to me!

My mum was a concert pianist, still is a fantastic player but never once did she offer a single word of encouragement to me in my playing, she has still never seen me play live and has never heard a song I have played on despite friends of hers telling her that she should have a listen as she would likely be very surprised at what the band sounds like.....I did put it to her once but never got a proper answer. My dad was a decent drummer, who worked in the entertainment industry so I got good support there, my step brothers are all cracking guitarists who took up playing after coming to see me play when they were small She taught my son to play piano to a very good standard Nowt as strange as folk!

I am "special" if that helps at all?

I have just bid proper money for a USA Musicman Sub....why....I already know full well I don't like Musicman Basses

I have far too many....but still suffer horrendous GAS!

Battered Mike Dirnt Precision that I paid £80.00 for, I have repainted it and upgraded most of the parts but it sees far more action than any of my more expensive basses

I can't vote on this one, both were massively influential in their own genres, I imagine Bob would have listened to or at least heard the Beatles stuff in his younger days but to choose one over the other is something I can't do Football wise I think Bob would have won, he was a really keen footballer, I don't think the Beatles were?

The painful reminder that technology has moved on and left me behind....it all sounds fantastic, I understand IEM's and even own an IPhone but putting the technology together scares me. From your IPhone can you alter the mix for the other members of the band and just give them loads of lovely bass guitar? Could a member of the audience with the right app totally trash your monitor mix and even replace it with a One Direction song playing in your ears?

Basslines you don't know why you struggle with

Sally McLennan by the Pogues, I gigged it for years with Sack The Drummer and I don't think I ever played it right! It was always played as an encore song, everyone (including members of the band) were usually well lubricated by that point so it always went down a storm -
A local shop tried to sell me a Jaguar bass apparently once owned by the bass player from Coldplay, I suggested it was worth less than one not owned by Coldplay.....the deal didn't happen!

I voted for the MIM jazz, I know the Squier's are excellent basses but I just think the MIM bass is a touch better, but play both and buy whichever you prefer

So, at a rough guess this thread has ordered at least 40 units! When I ordered it said 10+ available, I wonder how many the + equates to?

I started on guitar at the age of sixteen, I wanted to play bass but second hand basses were harder to find back then so I ended up with a "cracking" Satterlite Strat. I got my first bass about 6 months later
If the venue is regularly getting low audiences I'd look at the attitude of the management and then bar staff and the cleanliness of the toilets and general ambience. People have had enough of going to grotty venues with surly staff. May not be worth playing there of that's the actual problem. Plus. How does your music fit in with an Australian beat box and a hardcore metal band. That's just the wrong combination on my mind, it's not going to attract anyone for a whole evening.
You are probably correct, but my frustration was not just with last night's venue, I think my biggest frustration is that we get to play empty venues with some fantastically talented younger, up and coming bands who should be pulling in audiences but end up being watched by the other bands members only, I am far to old to make it in the music business nowadays and I am not sure I would even want to, but they are not, it would be nice to play alongside bands like this and bring them a bit of a new audience.
