1.
Can't understand why people want headstocks, stupid primitive things that make a bass heavier and less well-balanced, and more likely to unintentionally jab the vocalist in the ear. With a headless, I have to actually mean it.
"Unintentionally jab our vocalist in the ear" there was nothing unintentional when I gave our guitarist a black eye with the end of my Precision headstock, he doesn't stand so close to me nowadays.... (to explain, I am not some kind of bass wielding physco he was jumping around like an idiot I just provided him with something to crash in to)
2. I have a semi complete Pitbull Rick bass, it just requires wiring and painting now but the standard neck joint was a complete joke and would not have lasted five minutes, I had to do some serious carpentry work on it to make it useable, the bridge was wrong (again the right bridge needed more carpentry work) the pickups were wrong, again more woodwork...I now have a playable bass with a decent action that looks about right....would I recommend the kit....not a chance!
3. Yep, that's definitely a contender!

6. I have an entire albums worth of stuff I wrote some years back, complete songs of drums, keys, bass and guitars, recorded back on Cuebase 1 and an 8 track reel to reel, neither of which I still have, I have them on the media player, we still listen to them sometimes but I have absolutely no idea what I played, the sounds I used or basically anything for them, I have played them to a view people who have said I ought to do something with them....err I think not, life is too short to start trying to work out everything I played!
7. I love it, I am not going to buy it but I still love it!
8. Yodaclub are an Indie band, we regularly turn out wearing a Joy Division tee shirt or a Manics shirt, not had anyone comment that our dress is inappropriate
9. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-73-MIJ-Reissue-case/152764653054?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 Looking at this on Evilbay today, the sellers feedback score looks legit but have a look at the neckplate picture, i am pretty sure the neck plate is not original but that's not exactly a major issue however looking at the paint around the plate it has definitely had paintwork of some form or another and by the looks of things not to a very high quality yet nothing is mentioned in the text for the add!
10. From the OP I think they should change their name to the "Dave's" but I agree it is good to see genuine talent shine through
11. Wake up promotions, Strangling vinyl promotions and Dreaming in colour promotions all in Leicester have put us on at various gigs, they are all decent promotors don't expect massive crowds or paid gigs but it is decent exposure in Leicester
12. Steve, I can't believe you are selling her! This is my old cab and I only sold it due to an impending change of company car, it's hardly been used and is in excellent condition and Steve is a top bloke...GLWTS
13. I saw them on the Night Time tour, I love Love Like Blood, I think it has one of the best drum / bass sounds of anything of its time, I am ashamed to say I didn't even know he had passed away, I will give the album a spin tonight
14. I love some of their songs but still can't listen to any of the albums straight through, if you guys like Siouxsie and the Banshees look out for Lizzie and the Banshees touring they are about as good a tribute band as you will find.
15. Pretty much anything that isn't a Precision! Hence 9 of the 18 current crop of basses are Precisions Hated the Thunderbird I had for all of a week Hated the CMI Rick I had recently Couldn't get on with any Warwick's I have ever owned Can't get on with Jazz basses, don't like the way their sound forms at the amp, I can never hear them on stage! Could never get on with the Stingray sound up until picking up the USA sub, which I really like, however I have just discovered it makes a crap recording bass! Don't really get on with 5 string basses so really need to sell them Can't really understand the point of the bass VI so rarely ever play it, again I should sell it really...... Yet I get on fine with most electric guitars!
16.
I absolutely hate dancing queen, so IMO you can only improve it. If I could have my way, a metal cover would be ideal. Get every copy of the f***ing song that exists, including digital, bury them as deep as you can & pour molten metal into the hole, covering every copy there is.
Nowt as strange as folks! Having grown up with punk rock I still absolutely love this song and think it is probably the best song written since the heyday of the Beatles!
17. Wow my YOB bass.....now where's that spare five grand I left lying about
18.
Slightly OT, but we have an ad blocker and I've noticed a recent increase in the number of sites that can detect when you're using one and won't allow access to their content unless you turn it off. My response: "Fine, I'll get the information I need somewhere else."
Totally agree, I have been struggling to find an ad blocker that works on Firefox as Adblock seems to do nothing, I have just switched on the Mozilla Adguard which seems to work a lot better
19. Black and Tort is a classic combination, do a quick Google search for "Black Precision" the first image that comes up for me is a Black n Tort bass
20. First gig circa 1985 Aston University supporting (appropriately) a band called Stress! In front of about 1500 people, they were number 12 in the charts that weekend I got up that morning and they were on Breakfast TV which did nothing for my stress levels! We got to the venue and did the soundcheck I played everything in double time as my hands were shaking so much, I had never heard my bass through any kind of PA let alone that of a proper big venue! The rest of the band were far more experienced musicians than me and they were extremely nervous which again did nothing to settle my nerves. I went on stage with a Westone Thunder 111 fretless and a Carlsboro Cobra 90 bass head and a pair of non discript 1x12 cabs, after the 4th song my bass stopped working....I stood there like a lemon until a guy ran on and swapped my lead! I still have the gig on tape I still play it and I have never been nervous again about going on stage irrespective of crowd size and up until Yodaclub I still think it was the best songs I ever played on
21. Gutted, as others have said, he was a huge inspiration and his songs have featured in every covers band set I have ever played in.....RIP Tom
22. Nice, 2 eq as well!
23. I brought a mint 5 stringer a couple of months back for £190.00 and that has a truss rod that works as well! There are not that many about but those I have seen tend to sell for £200 / £250
24. I got a couple last time as well, both still going strong!
25. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OLP-Tony-Levin-Signature-Stingray-5-String-Bass/322738257645?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 I know these are decent little basses as I have one myself but currently £435.00 and with a potentially dodgy truss rod.....I think there maybe some iffy bidding going on!
