  1. The short scale ACG's ead was talking about are typically 7.5 to 8lbs in weight. I have 30.5" Skelf and TKO. ACG currently have a Border Reiver headless 32" scale for sale on their website. That should be reasonably lightweight. http://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0310brss4/
  2. I use a Markbass Blackline 250 as a backup. Nice little amp which would suit the three styles (originals, covers....) you mentioned earlier regarding styles plus it's lightweight.
  3. You could also try Falcon Acoustics: https://www.falconacoustics.co.uk/
  4. ACG can do you a short scale 5 string.
  5. Did we say ACG...
  6. I went on the Status website the other day and they appear to have mostly round wounds but state that they are hoping to fulfill the rest of the range shortly.
  7. I'd contact Spector direct. I had good helpful support from them regarding a part for a truss rod some years back.
  8. The only question is Why? surely there are better things to (ab)use to demonstrate the product.
  9. A little away from you but I have one and work in Coventry so could meet up somewhere if its of any help.
  10. That looks good, well done.
  11. If you find something could you let me know as I am also have a similar sized bass (it's not as long as the Mustang).
  12. I (like ead) would highly recommend talking to ACG about what you want.
  13. If it moves to Uttoxeter let me jebroad and I'll be happy to muck in the organization if required.
  14. I'm with you, they are exceedingly good strings.
  15. Just come across this site if it's of use to anyone for guitar bodies and necks (both skinny and fat): https://www.boobooguitars.co.uk/

  16. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++1 what ped says.
  17. Nice bit of kit there Bridgehouse, glad your pleased with it.
  18. It is a bit of a mix. I agree with Paul S as I have purchased a Silver Series Squier recently and can back up his comments. I also have a heavily modified Harley Benton Shorty P bass which has a Delano pick up and it sounds and plays great. Then again not quite a P bass but I have an ACG TKO short scale with a P pick up which has become my go to bass, but, any of the 3 are extremely usable and sound great but each is slightly different. Conclusion: you don't have to spend megabucks, one of the above was less that £200, the other under £300.
  19. Not sure how mini the tuners have to be but there are both Korg Pitchblack and Boss TU-3 's in the Effects classifieds.
  20. Sad news indeed.
  21. Well spotted and well done Eddie.
  22. +1 for dood's comments especially the last paragraph. Due to concerts and specifically one in my forties I developed ringing in my ears which years later has led to hearing aids and the wearing of moulded in ear protectors when I play so as not to cause any more damage. I will echo the fact that at times the continual ringing can drive you to despair, I don't know what silence is any longer. Be warned, get any sign of hearing damage checked out and instigate the required precautions accordingly.
  23. I use Newtone Diamond Nickel round wound round core 50 - 110 gauge to very good effect on my ACG and HB short scales. Can also recommend their Platinum Nickel round wound on hexagonal core 45 - 105 gauge if you want a smoother less finger noise string for recording.
  24. It's turning into one of those plucking threads again.....
  25. I signed up a couple of years ago after the 14 day trial. Like some have said for it can be difficult to have a regular tutor but being able to 'dip' into the academy when time allows is a god send. I also find that being able to recap and replay the lessons when it suits is a boon. Eventually took the full subscription offer and with retirement on the horizon I will be (hopefully) using it to the full.
