1.
IIRC, only Skylines get Plek'd. On US made basses it's all done by hand.
That's a PLEK machine in the background isn't it?
2. Reading 2002 for me I remember Foo Fighters headlined the Saturday, Prodigy the Sunday - who I didn't see as I wasn't fussed with them back then so The Offspring before them were my Sunday night headliner. I think The Strokes headlined the Friday? Can't remember though as I didn't watch them, I did see Feeder though who headlined the second stage that day; it was the second performance they'd done since the drummer committed suicide, the first being a small warm-up show the day or so before. I remember the look on Grant Nichols face when they opened with Can't Rewind and the whole tent was singing it back to them, must have been a very emotional gig for them.
3.
sometimes you just have to admit that nothing beats leather for such things Just remember the animal was already gonna die for it's meat, the leather is a by product. And if it wasn't killed for it's meat it never would have been born. I know this won't sit with a vegan but it's the truth. Is anyone making hemp straps?
Is this really necessary?
4. Pre-Spotify I'd have said Metallica, however these days I'll only buy something I've heard and like; probably end up buying it on Bandcamp if I can. Metallica's last record really was dreadful, god knows why they put out a double album when there wasn't enough good material for a single record. Edit: That's not entirely true - there are some bands where I'll pre-order their new albums before hearing them - Frank Turner, Opeth, Electric Wizard, Anaal Nathrakh, Akercocke; but I'm fairly confident on the quality of their output.
5.
There's a phrase I've never really understood, though I get fully what you mean. Vanilla. Vanilla isn't cheap, it has a unique flavour & just about everybody likes it. Cheap "vanilla" ice cream on the other hand, not many people like it & it doesn't even taste of vanilla!
Like an all valve SVT then - expensive, unique sounding and lots of folk like it. However, I don't want my amp to sound like an SVT
6.
My new band played a 2 tune guest slot at the Indigo Jazz Jam in Manchester last night. It was our first live appearance and we were really looking forward to road testing the band to a crowd that would "get" us. We opened with our own arrangement of Actual Proof by Herbie Hancock, it's more of a hiphop groove than the original and instead of following the form it riffs around the Cm for solos. We intended it to be as stanky as possible! Very well recieved and the crowd was bouncing! We moved quickly onto a similar hiphop based rendition of Billy Cobham's Red Baron, our drummer keeping it dirty with a "sloppy 8's" hi-hat groove. Awesome solo's from everyone including a few other horn players. Finished the set on a massive high with people cheering, amazing feeling considering this was our first outing as a band. Lost of people coming up to us afterwards wanting to get to know more about the band. Probably the best jam night I've ever been to to be honest, it was a proper "jam" in that people would just get up an improvise. The house band were incredible, the crowd were super enthusiastic and the beer was excellent! What more can you possibly need? It should be noted that the caliber of musicianship there makes it practically criminal that you can see this for free too, even if you don't get up to play it would definitely be worth going down just to watch! All in all, an awesome night!
That sounds fantastic
7. A fun wedding last night, I think this sums it up [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20170611_074745_zpsyf01stxt.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> I'm in the beret
8. PM'd
9. Oh man, wish I had the cash to spare right now - got to get one of these one day
10.
It is worth the trip if you can make it.
Oh aye, last year was my first and I had an absolute blast - really looking forward to this year and will drive up to wherever it is (within reason) Just saying that as the south-east is a pretty big area, you can't really complain about where it's held as it's going to be a fair drive for someone
11.
Worthing would be a bit far for those of us coming from that London
Surrey's quite far for those of us coming from the south coast
12. Bernie Goodfellow serviced my HD350 recently, he's at Seven Dials http://www.gbguitars.co.uk
13. Surf green [Img]http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/PisAAOSws65ToIpK/s-l400.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
14. I played one of the 4 string P/M models at Bass Direct a couple of years ago - didn't really like it. The neck was very comfortable, but I found the tone pretty uninspiring - just a bit bland and lifeless. Hope that helps
15. Not my sort of metal, but well played and that Status sounds lovely
16. My band's called Naked Bass, so I do get asked this from time to time My usual answer is that all things are negotiable....... In fairnes, I suspect the question is asked more often when my dep is playing, as he's quite a handsome man
17. Easy - EBS HD350, my main gigging amp, wonderful bit of kit; if it broke or was stolen I'd get another.
18. Oooh, I like the ATK at the back
19. I was heavily into pop-punk when I started playing - Blink 182, Greenday and The Offspring were my favourite bands; though whilst learning I probably played Rage Against The Machine abmnd Red Hot Chili Peppers the most.
20.
I need to get this. I can't wait to see them live next month... EDIT: ah, it's on iTunes... After I listen to the new At The Drive-In I shall listen to it...
I saw Oxbow supporting Sumac last month, absolutely brilliant, better than the headliner.
21. Martin Mendez of Opeth uses one for the song Windowpane http://youtu.be/3LMxLIcRWy8
22. If.....this is still available next month, AND my landlord doesn't try to steal too much of our deposit......I'll be calling you about this
23. Metallica's intro tape - Ernio Moriconi's Ecstasy Of Gold really gets the atmosphere going, when it starts, you feel the show begin.
24. Gigged it last night - no issues, massive grin on my face
25. There's also EGC in the States and Alusonic in Italy who both some tasty stuff.
