Got it back today, Bernie couldn't get it to display the same fault - but he's stripped it down, cleaned everything up and swapped over some internal wires. Hopefully that will sort it out, he reckoned maybe the fan wasn't working correctly as it was gubbed up with dirt, so the thermal protection circuit was kicking in. Got a gig tomorrow night, so will use it then. Bernie was once again a lovely chap, thoroughly reccomended.

We play predominantly in Sussex area - East/West Sussex/Surrey/Kent borders. You're probably looking at £250 - £300 for pubs, some pay up to £400, but that's typically for proven acts who draw a crowd. Clubs can be more, some up to £500, but then smaller ones may pay half that.

I've played a bolt-on Legend 5, can anyone comment as to how the neck profile would compare to a Euro 5LX?
Hi. I'm just about to purchase an Aguilar dB 212 4 ohm cab to use with the TH500.I absolutely love the tone, exactly what I was looking for using an Ibanez ATK 400, really warm and rounded sound with clarity.
Sounds like you've found the answer

Any famous guitarists good at playing bass?
Steven Wilson.
Good shout Also, the fellow from Galssjaw, forget his name but he played the bass on Worship And Tribute which has some great playing on it -
Fingerless gloves are the way forward for outdoors shows. I once played at a bonfire night event which was outdoors, being Novemeber it was a bit nippy; I've kept fingerless gloves in my gig-bag since.

I got fired from a band when I was at uni because I wasn't good enough, they were kind about it, but that was the underlying issue and it was the right call for the band.

I initially thought this thread was about Aaron Rieseberg, which would make the YOB bass a Rickenbacker or EGC However, back on topic, I'm an '85 baby so a Wal, Status or G&L would probably be the best shout from that era.

Band names - how did you come up with yours?
Graham replied to AdamWoodBass's topic in General Discussion
Naked Bass got their name from their first gig (under a different name) where the original bassist dissapeared offstage mid-song with his wireless unit, still playing, and returned dis-robed. I've never felt the need to follow his example. -

I've got real GAS for a five string jazz at the moment........we'll have to see what happens when I get my deposit back on our current rental place in the next month or so Are the post 2012 American standard jazzes held in high regard? At the moment I'm contemplating a Skyline Darryl Jones 5, a Fender Professional Jazz 5 or maybe a used American Standard.

Nearly a year ago, my EBS HD350 was giving me grief, there was an intermittent problem with it making it cut out at gigs; not a great position to be in with a run of weddings and parties coming up so I bought a new head (GK MB500) with the intention of getting the EBS repaired at some point. About 11 months later, I've got a little cash put aside, so finally get the opportunity to get it fixed. When the bulb went on my old Fafner head, I called Bernie Goodfellow at GB Guitars in Brighton as he was the UK distributor for EBS back then. He suggested instead of replacing the bulb, he fit an LED cluster, which he did, very well. So Bernie seemed like an obvious port of call this time, he no longer distributes EBS but knows the range very well, I dropped the amp off with him this morning and he seemed confident he could sort it. Can't wait to get it back now, the GK is a brilliant little amp, but there's something really special about the EBS. Bernie was a lovely fellow too, couldn't have been more accomodating.

That's grand, thanks very much

A mate of mine has an Ashdown head which has died (I think it's an Evo II 900), I remember people on here saying Ashdown's after sales service was really good, does anyone have contact details for anyone at Ashdown who might be able to help?
I've been waiting for a Battle of Mice release since January, but it kept getting delayed. Release date is now May.
Is that a new Battle Of Mice or a re-pressing of A Day Of Nights?

Dep gig last night, it was a school ball at a posh golf-course but must've been for the staff rather than pupils. The performance itself was good, fun songs and an enthusiastic audience, plus I hardly made any mistakes, which is good for how infrequently I play with them. However, there was a lot of waiting around - arrived at half six as had to be set-up by seven so the guests could use the room for dinner, then first set at nine. However, it obviously ran silly late and we didn't start until quarter past ten. So we cut a few songs, ditched the break and juat played through for an hour and a half. I quite like playing without a break, but I never remember to bring enough water on stage with me.

This photo popped up on the Gallien-Krueger Facebook page, Snoop Dog's live bassist Robert "Buddy" Lewis, who's new MTD 6-string has a 20mm spacing, he must have massive hands [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/FB_IMG_1492755223288_zpszoidhpnu.jpg" class="ipsImage" />

Who Buys Downloads From Independent Artists?
Graham replied to BigRedX's topic in General Discussion
I had a quick look, all the Japanese bands I know (Sigh, Church Of Misery, Coffins, Gallhammer) are on there, as are the Taiwanese Cthonic and Singaporean Wormrot. I guess it comes down to which labels have wanted to deal with company, perhaps the business model doesn't make sense for Electronica and J-pop artists. -
Does anyone buy anything from record shops these days? We have a Rough Trade here in Nottingham, but the selection is pitiful. For a name that was associated with all that was cutting edge in music in the late 70s the current incarnation is depressingly mainstream. For Spotify users do you not find the catalogue too incomplete? I suppose it very much depends on your taste in music, but when I was asked by the Death Notes (the band I've joined recently) to contribute a Spotify playlist or two to their Facebook page along with the other members, I found that in the two genres I wanted to highlight - J-Pop and Post-Punk Electronica were severely limited and many of the tracks that I considered essential listening simply weren't available. Spotify seems to be fine for anything released in the UK and US since 2010 (if you release your music through an aggregator you'll be on Spotify by default), but once you start looking for older tracks by non-mainstream or artists who aren't UK or US there are massive gaps in the catalogue.
I find Spotify fine for the genres I listen to - some of it fairly obscure black metal and doom, be it new or old. The only bands I've had trouble with are small UK and Icelandic black metal acts and the occcasional older artist like Hellhammer. For the most part, almost anything I'm after is on there, I've had more trouble with some big name pop for dep gigs - Taylor Swift, Emile Sande than more obscure stuff. -

I use Bandcamp to buy releases by smaller bands who don't have their music on Spotify, and in some cases (for example the new Weigedood album) buy it there even if it is on Spotify. I don't get to many live performances these days, due to kids and my own gigs, but if I've enjoyed the band and have the cash on me I'll buy a CD. If I didn't have the cash, odds are I'd add it to my Bandcamp wishlist for later. I've bought 8 albums/EPs on Bandcamp over the last year, not sure how many CDs, maybe 6 or 7 and streamed hundreds of hours on Spotify.
