That looks superb, is it loud enough for use in a full band context, without PA support?

I think the G&L Tribute L2500 has a good B string for the price point I tried a bolt-on Spector Legend 5 which was about £350, and the B was good on that too

I saw Cannibal Corpse a couple of years ago, Alex Webster is one of the most talented bassists in metal, but he was completely inaudbible, only time I heard him at all was when he hit a couple of notes between songs and during the bass break in Hammer Smashed Face. Very disappointing, but my actual point is that the person on the sound desk was their tour manager! So even when bands bring their own people out, who should know how to mix the band, it's still no guarantee of a decent mix. The rest of the band sounded great, but clearly the bass had been sacrificed for guitar, kick and snare tone.

The whole band really likes playing the Atari's cover of The Boys Of Summer, as a group that's probably our favourite. For me personally though, either Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars or All My Life by the Foo Fighters. In All My Life I match the vocal melody during the breakdown which adds real groove to it before kicking back into the heavy riff before the last chorus. Love playing that.

oh and a very attractive instrument too

Blimey, that's an amazing job they've done there

I'm GASing for one of these at the moment, this thread is not helping

Bassists you like in genres/band you don't
Graham replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I only really listen to jazz-funk / acid-jazz for the bass, so you could say Jamiroquai and Incognito for me. -
Little Book of Ska - now plus gig vid!

That looks like a lot of fun, I've just made a Spotify playlist of most of that set-list to play along with -
I've had deps cancelled because the regular bass player was available again. Even if you've turned down other work, what can you do? Throwing your toys out of the pram and telling the band to take a hike isn't very professional or effective. It's cutting your nose off to spite your face. A gig is a gig. I'd do the remaining gig.
As usual, Chris has expressed it more clearly than I could. I've been in that position, it's annoying, but I'd rather keep the band onside for future work than kick off and possibly loose out later. From the other perspective, there have been times where I've depped out a gig and then closer to the night found I was available, I've not cancelled the dep as I found that unfair to the dep.
You're holding the neck up as you play you mean? From a technique point of view that's something I try to 'unteach' my students. Your fingers and thumb should only be dealing with fretting notes, not supporting the neck as well. Apologies if I've misunderstood what you are trying to say, but neck dive and the way people have to stop it (holding the neck or using the right arm to weigh the body down) is counterproductive. A very well balanced instrument is a joy to play in comparison Even better when it doesn't weigh a ton either.
I don't know - will have to check next time I'm playing, but it's in my hand so surely stops any issue. I've either got well balanced instruments, or poor technique
I've played a lot of different bass guitars over the last 50 years. I still gig with my 1991 Gibson Thunderbird, I might gig it tonight. I've never experienced whatever this "neck dive" stuff is. Blue
Same, never knowingly experienced it, but I'm also failing to see the issue? The headstock falls towards the floor when you're not holding the neck? I can't think of a time when I'd be playing and not holding the neck?
Someone will be along soon to tell us their Class D micro amp and 110 cab blows away an SVT and 810 Ampeg fridge....
I prefer the sound of my class D GK head and neo 2x12 to an SVT / 8x10 But then I prefer transistors to valves.

Which one was the hardest song you have learned and why?
Graham replied to fiatcoupe432's topic in General Discussion
Psychotic Precison by Cannibal Corpse and The Grudge by Tool are two I've been working on for a little while; haven't nailed either yet, but getting there. Alex Webster is a stunning player and makes those Cannibal Corpse songs look far too easy. -
When I started it was Flea, later Martin Mendez......now? Probably Bernie

In fairness, the bassist of doom is Geezer Butler, what with being in the band which invented the genre

Which one is the bass that will end your GAS
Graham replied to fiatcoupe432's topic in General Discussion
No such thing as an end to GAS, a Wal Mk3 5 would go a long way to sating it, but even then I'd still like a Spector NS5XL, a good 5 string jazz, a fretless..........the list goes on At least my four string precision style GAS has been killed dead by my G&L SB2, that one's a keeper. -
She's adorable. Enjoy the moment, they grow up too fast.
Don't it just, the eldest will be 10 next year, god knows how that happened.
