1. Emperor, I've not managed to see them yet, but they're touring next year for the 20th anniversary of Anthems.... so hopefully ai'll get to see them then, depending on when they do a UK show.
  2. I saw SikTh a couple of years ago, where James Leach was running these with what I think was a GK head. It sounded superb, far better than I thought it would when I saw what he had on stage.
  3. I really like Echoes, it's a really well put together compilation. Pigs (3 Different Ones) is one of my favourite basslines to play, the timing on the intro always throws me though, the first note is never quite where I think it should be.
  4. Looks like I did make up the Stingray thing Wasn't there supposed to be a new album last week?
  5.
I think nearly everybody on this site is familiar with Devil Woman, again just too polite for my tastes, needs some more rough edges on it, but hey if it floats your boat that's good
Better? http://youtu.be/841ue54z-TI

  7.
If I was playing metal I would daisy up 2 Orange tube rigs, one bass and one guitar rig with several fuzz, distortion and octave pedals. Any decent bass would work. Blue
That would sound awful in the vast majority of metal bands. Would sound fantastic in a doom/sludge/stoner act, but would be completely inappropriate for most metal bands.
  8. I used to have one of these, with the pre-amp flat it was quite low output, far lower than the Squier Precision I had before it.
  9. I always thought it funny Mayones made these, I'm surprised they have the production capacity as from my understanding they are a fairly small operation in terms of staff and workshop space.
  10. There's a four string, fretted Mk1 for sale here, £3k https://www.facebook.com/groups/184621401586617/permalink/1127243777324370/
Warwickshire, about 20 mins from Bass Direct and a short train ride from Birmingham.
But far from me in Sussex/Surrey, but if you're ever down this way stop in for a cup of tea and a spin on the SB2

    Where are you based Cato?

I don't use my SB2 as much these days but I never missed the tone control; the bridge pickup is quite weak (I think because it's so close to the bridge), so the way I see it, it's almost like that pickup is the tone control - if you want more treble turn that pickup up, you want less, turn it down. So you have something that works in a similar fashion, but gives a different effect to a tone control. Of course, YMMV.
  14.
Aye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT3sxRK0XCU
Thank you sir
  15.
I also slip The Beatles Day Tripper riff at the end of Alright Now. I pinched it from Joe Walsh who did the same thing on an Eagles DVD
Got a YouTube link for that?
  16.
Good call on the Mikey Way Mustang. I'll find out what I can about it. Couldn't live with that colour, though. Edit: Quick Google search suggests that the Mikey way has a fairly thick Motown-y tone, which isn't quite what I'm after.
Pickup change?
  17. In the chorus after the middle 8 in Counting Stars by One Republic we normally (audience dependent) go into The Bad Touch by The Bloodhound Gang for 16 bars, sits nicely and normally raises a smile
  18.
Doesn't sound like a stingray to me
I might have made that up, thought I read it somewhere.
  19. Wasn't this album recorded on a Stingray?
  20.
Arrrgggghhhh... I live in Paris, and I want it, and I got the cash!!!!!! That is such a shame..
Quick jaunt across the channel wont set you back much surely, particularly as a proprtion of what you'd spend on the bass.......
  21. I'm a big fan of Akercocke, they're on my must-see list for the day; Voices and The Antichrist Imperium are great, but it's good to have them back again, particularly with new material on the way. I watched their Bloodstock performance on YouTube and despite being a guitarist Nathanial did a very good job.
  22.
Lucky swine getting to see Julie Christmas/Cult of Luna... and Electric Wizard... and Ufomammut...
Ufomammut clash with Enslaved unfortunately, but that's always the way with Festival bills
  23. Any basschatters going, or even playing? Looking forward to next weekend, can't wait to see Cult Of Luna play Mariner in full, then there's Electric Wizard, Enslaved, a reformed Akercocke and Abbath. I've also been really enjoying the new releases from some small UK bands playing, particularly Conjurer, Kroh, Venom Prison and Mithras, so looking forward to catching them.

  25. I got a Wal t-shirt in the bass bash rafle last month, quite like that as it's quite subtle and niche
