1. I'm somewhere between GES and GIS, the kit I have does the job very well and I have no pressing need for anything else, but should I get a bonus next year I'll be shopping for some new and improved gear.
2. Plenty of people have GOS.........until they join Basschat
3. Is that the one with the non-wood body? Luthite was it? I remember playing one in GAK in about 2003, sounded really nice - very clear and articulate
4. Last night was my brother's wedding at Hever Castle in Kent, my band played and I joined them for one of the medleys; was great to watch them and dance for a change
5. Nice, I've recently bought the non-Fusion version and am remarkably happy with it, you'll love this I'm sure.
6.
Friday night excellent, Saturday night not so much. Saturday night - Engagement party, upstairs in a golf club. Got there for 7, start time 8:30. Basically ignored by the entire room for the whole gig. Then got a message from the girl on Sunday saying she wasn't happy, she didn't think she got 'value for money' from us. Might have helped if the couple and all of their TOWIE wannabe friends hadn't segregated themselves in one corner of the room (I mean like 20 yards away from ANYONE ELSE) and ignored all of the other people (and the band) who showed up for their party. They were more bothered about having their photos taken / taking selfies than getting on the dance floor and enjoying themselves. Didn't they think that maybe if they got up and had a bit of a dance, then maybe their guests might have joined in and that might have got it going a bit?? And here's the other thing - No one spoke to any band members on the night about feeling disappointed with any aspect of our performance..we did our full set and played music through the PA whilst packing down, always leaving room for potential dancers (there were no dancers) Which is what was agreed. Basically their party was rubbish and they chose to blame us. We provided the entertainment, but they chose to not be entertained. What's the old saying? You can lead a horse to water......?
Jesus, I'd have been raging if I got a message like that the next day.

8. Last night wasn't great, it's a band myself and the guitarist from our main band play in from time to time, but we've not done a gig in the best part of a year. So, between not playing these songs live for a while, the heat and humidity, having to drag all the gear up two narrow flights of stairs and having done about six hours of driving that day, we made a few daft mistakes. The guitarist and I weren't too pleased with the performance, but the party (30th birthday party for the singer's sister) were happy, so okay I guess.
9.
I'll throw in (up?) Love Is An Open Door from Disney's Frozen. The electric bass on all the soundtrack is Abe Laboriel. If you listen past the sugar frosting he rips it up on that track!
Yes! The bass is great on that
10. I hardly go to gigs I'm not playing these days, between the band and the family there's not a huge amount of time to go see bands, but I've got three in three months coming up soon. First up is Anaal Nathrakh in London at the start of September, got Voices and The Infernal Sea in support too which I'm looking forward to. They really are one of the few bands that will drag me into the Capital these days. Then in October I'm taking my eldest to see Less Than Jake and The Skints in Brixton, which will be her first proper gig. In November I'm off too Leeds for Damnation Festival, I used to go every year, but post-children it's harder; however I've managed to wrangle this as a last weekend away before our third child is due in December, as I really couldn't miss Cult Of Luna performing Mariner alongside Electric Wizard, Akercocke, Abbath and Nails.
11. If I was speccing out a custom instrument, I'd probably go 24, just because it gives you more options. However, this would in no way be a deal breaker and would happily buy a 20 fret bass if it sounded great and felt right.
12. At the moment, a Spector Euro LX5 and Bergatino HD 2x10 cabs, but I'm sure that'll change again before too long.
Black plastic moulding, mitred & fitted round the entire front - not expensive (B&Q?) & looks fine.
May investigate this further if no joy with the above Thanks for the feedback guys
A blunt gillette razor lightly scraped works well! My three mini tigers love to kill cabs, which is why I don't have carpeted cabs, and they have covers and i cover the covers
Might give that a go, I hadn't considered the blasted animal will probably want to sharpen his claws on the the cover when I get one!

I think I'll probably have to just live with it, flattening it down against the cab it doesn't look too bad. That and investing in a cover come pay day.
I tried gluing it down, but it just looked like hair plastered down with Brylcreem (anyone remember that ?)
Yeah, that was the sort of look I was hoping to avoid.

damn my dangling modifier
18. My cat has used my cab as a scratching post [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20160718_204156_zpsyugsyiuv.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Has anyone tried to repair this sort of damage before? I was thinking about trimming it with scissors to make it less obvious, but I can see bare wood underneath when I move the clawed fabric so don't really want to do that. I was thinking glueing it down, but not sure what sort of glue? Any advice welcome.
19. Good you have a monitor to bring with you, hopefully you should be fine
20. Also, no bass amps on stage, but also no monitoring provided? Edit: Is this all that's been said about the bass amp?
● Bass: all bands must Direct input their bass.
As my reading of that is you have to DI rather than mic your amp, otherwise my point about monitoring stands.
21. I wouldn't cancel, more down to not wanting to add stress to the bridal party than to secure my paycheck. I would, however pass this on to the bride and groom so they are aware before hand that there are venue imposed noise restrictions. Also, your point about where the 95db is measured is a good one and one I'd be asking the venue as it should bring some clarity.
22.
What's inaccurate about the octave harmonics?
Indeed - I'd have thought that if you had problems with tuning at the twelth fret then your intonation was out.
23. awesome See if you can record some video when you take it out live
24.
Exactly this for me, too.
Same here
25. Play for the audience, that's what gets us repeat bookings. I may not like listening to much of our set, but they're a lot more fun to play than listen to. If I was playing for my enjoyment I'd be in a black metal or doom band
