1. A mate of mine is in urgent need of a PA tonight in Ipswich, anyone have a recommendation for a company/engineer who might be available?
2. At least they know what they want
3. I didn't really rate the new Gojira, did very little for me, the new Dillinger is superb though
4. I'll listen to the album, but I have very low expectations, of the two new songs they've released, Hardwired was okay - nice, old-school thrash sound to it as I recall, but Moth To Flame just bored me - far too long, with parts that were neither memorable or necessary. Here's hoping I enjoy the album and it hasn't been compressed to death like the last one
5. Diago Gigman pedalboard, a really well made pedalboard, in very good, though not immaculate, condition. This is the smallest of the three pedalbaords Diago make, there's a sizing guide on the link below, I'll measure the internal space to confirm though. http://www.diago.co.uk/pedalboards/diago-pedalboards.html Due to the size and weight, that price is for collection, I may be able to ship it, so drop me a PM and I'll get a quote. If you want any more photos from any other angles, let me know.
6.
Damnation does look good this year!
I can't wait to see Cult Of Luna, plus having Electric Wizard, Enslaved, Akercocke and Abbath on the bill is just a great big bonus.
7. Damnation Festival in a couple of weeks, then that's it for the forseeable future; baby number three is due in December and they do tend to limit the number of non-essential evenings out.
8. Been thinking about this over the course of the day, but the one I keep coming back to is Thelma Houston's Don't Leave Me This Way, particularly the intro.
9. Got Pro17s and they're fantastic, as above a slight change in sound, but certainly the flattest I've used. One of the best things about them is using them at gigs I'm watching rather than playing - now I'm using hearig protection at gigs, bands have never sounded so good.
10. I'd love one of these for knocking out Megadeth covers.
11. My mum's watching Mary Poppins with the kids, so currently listening to A Spoonful Of Medicine.
12. I vaguely remember Alex saying something about Tim having an A and B rig in another thread and that the A was replaced with Barefaceds, but the B was waiting on another shipment of drivers that didn't arrive before the tour started. Either way, he clearly likes the Ampegs too.
13.
The 'Update' is a rumoured new US series called 'Professional' speculation I've heard/read is that not much is gonna change, but there are some features that will be changing, truss wheel, compound radiuses, bone nut. These sorts of changes bring the 'Professional' more in line with the Elite series released this year.
Sounds like rather desperate marketing, the American Standard brand has been established a long time and people know what to expect from it. I'm also put off by people who put "professional" in their brand name - always makes me think it isn't; like Tywin Lannister put it "Any man who must say "I am the king", is no true king".
14. Hopefully this will work better
15. Hmmm, same thing's happened, not had this problem with photobucket before - I'll try the Basschat uploader
16. Bump - I can't see the photos on my phone, can eveyone else see them?
17. I like it, kinda reminds me of the sleeve from Converge's Jane Doe record
18.
beyer dt-770 pro 80 ohm, great sound quality
Same I think, got a set for mixing at Uni, now just get used for home rehearsal
19. I've got Wal GAS so bad, it has eclipsed all other GAS. Unfortunately, I am simply not going to be in a position to buy one for the next few years.
20. We'll be seeing The Lounge Kittens at The Boileroom in Guildford on Wednesday, really looking forward to this, should be really fun
21.
Mariachi El Bronx are awesome! Probably 1 of my favourite support bands I've seen when they toured with Gogol Bordello, you're in for a right treat!
They were great, I also enjoyed The Skints (nice to see a five string on stage), but I think my favourite band of the nught were seven-piece Japanese ska-punk band Kemuri. They were on their first UK, spoke broken English, but were just so happy and energetic. We only saw the first song in Less Than Jake's set unfortunately, as my daughter had fallen asleep three times by the time they came on stage, so we decided to call it a night.
22. Less Than Jake, The Skints and Mariachi El Bronx tonight; taking my eldest for her first proper gig, she doesn't know yet
